Reborn As Super Heiress

Chapter 259: Chapter 256: Fiancé? Chapter 259: Chapter 256: Fiancé? Huo Sining was stunned, looking at this man, she inexplicably felt somewhat guilty.

The man smiled with a flicker of hurt in his eyes, “He’s not right for you.”

The man’s tone was very familiar, which made Huo Sining feel both strange and suspicious, “Who are you? Do you know me?”

The man was taken aback, only then realizing that Huo Sining’s gaze upon him was unprecedentedly unfamiliar.

“You don’t recognize me?”

Huo Sining shook her head.

The man immediately furrowed his brows, sizing up Huo Sining for a moment as if eagerly trying to confirm whether she was lying to him.

“Could you stretch out your hand for me to see?”

Huo Sining hesitated for a moment.

Seeing this, the man immediately smiled, “Don’t worry, I won’t do anything inappropriate to you again.”

Upon hearing this, Huo Sining then extended her hand to him, though her eyes were still warily fixed on him.

The man wasn’t annoyed, he lightly clasped Huo Sining’s wrist with his hand.

It was then that Huo Sining noticed this man not only had a handsome face, but even his hands were exquisitely beautiful—slender and delicate like green onions, more gentle and delicate than the soft hands of ordinary girls, so much so that Huo Sining couldn’t bring herself to look away, somewhat unwilling to shift her gaze.

While she was lost in thought, a red thread emerged from the tips of the man’s fingers, directly penetrating the skin at Huo Sining’s pulse.

A warm current flowed through her veins into her entire body, causing Huo Sining to tremble, and as she regained her senses, she realized the red thread coming from the man’s fingertips was not a physical object, but condensed spiritual energy emitted from the red bead on his body.

Huo Sining had done similar things as well; by forcing spiritual energy to her fingertips, she could slowly form it into shape.

But this man performed these actions with obvious ease, clearly much more adept than she was.

Huo Sining felt both pleased and puzzled. How could this man also possess a bead, and why did his bead seem to have a different color from hers?

Just as she touched the man’s forehead, Huo Sining had seen a red bead emerge from this man’s brow.

What on earth was going on? Was the bead on this man’s forehead of the same nature as her Water-Repelling Pearl, or was there some other difference?

As Huo Sining was lost in her thoughts, the man withdrew the red thread from her wrist, his expression becoming somewhat grave as he muttered, “How could this be?”

“What?” Huo Sining didn’t understand.

The other party wasn’t ready to explain. Instead, looking at the position on Huo Sining’s forehead, he asked with a smile, “You must be very curious about who I am, and also want to know how I acquired the bead on my forehead, right?”

Huo Sining nodded.

The man said with a smile, “I can’t explain much to you for now, I can only tell you that I came here looking for you.”

“Looking for me? Do you really know me?” Huo Sining asked in astonishment and urgency.

The man nodded and then shook his head, “I don’t know you, I only recognize this bead. I followed the scent of the Ice Spirit Bead to find you.”

Huo Sining became more and more confused as she listened: “A smell? How can this pearl have a smell? I didn’t notice anything, and how do you know this pearl is called the Ice Spirit Bead? What do you want with me?”

The man chuckled but did not follow up on Huo Sining’s questions. Instead, he explained on his own accord:

“You must have just awakened the power of the Ice Spirit Bead not long ago and haven’t fully mastered the mental method to control it.”

Huo Sining was stunned: “Mental method? What are you talking about?”

The man smiled and said, “The Ice Spirit Bead is a divine object, which cannot be used by a mortal body. You accidentally lifted its seal, but using it is still not right. To fully and comfortably control it, you first need to learn the mental method.”

“How do I know if you’re telling the truth or not, who knows if you’re just a scammer. Also, you haven’t answered my questions, how do you know the name of this pearl, and what do you want with me?”

Huo Sining looked at the man before her with a skeptical eye, feeling utterly confused by his earlier remarks.

“What I’m here for, I can’t tell you now, but when the time comes, I naturally will,” the man responded with a glance at Huo Sining. “As for this pearl, I not only know its name, I also know its origin.”

“Origin?” Huo Sining frowned, “It’s a family heirloom passed down in my family, how would you be aware of its origin?”

The man laughed lightly: “Indeed, you remember nothing. It’s fortunate I found you before those people; otherwise, the consequences would be unimaginable.”

What a bunch of gibberish, none of it seemed to add up. Speaking with this man was exhausting for Huo Sining, as they were simply not on the same wavelength.

“Who exactly are you? And how come you also have a pearl?” Huo Sining was on the brink of losing her temper, but after taking a deep breath, she managed to calm down and sort through her jumbled thoughts. She looked at the man before her with a confronting air.

Upon hearing her question, the man with the narrow and enchanting eyes looked up: “My name is Su Lan. Although this is our first meeting, we are betrothed; to be exact, I am your fiancé.”

“Psycho!”

Hearing this, Huo Sining rolled her eyes at the man named Su Lan and walked out.

A fiancé? What a joke. How could she possibly be engaged to someone she didn’t know at all? She wasn’t out of her mind.

In this life and the one before, she’d only ever been in one romantic relationship, which had been exposed by a woman named Wu Jingyi. She had been deeply involved, only to discover on her deathbed that it had all been a long-premeditated deception.

Huo Sining could now be certain that this man was not only gravely injured, but his mind must have also been damaged. Otherwise, he wouldn’t speak in such a disjointed manner and spout such nonsensical things, would he?

“I know you won’t believe me, but this is indeed the truth. My Fire Spirit Pearl and your Ice Spirit Bead were engagement gifts, and no matter where they are, the two pearls can sense each other. I found you by following the spiritual energy’s resonance!”

Huo Sining paused mid-step, turned around, and looked at the man: “How do I know what you’re saying is true?”

Su Lan smiled: “I’ve said, I know how to control the Ice Spirit Bead. Give me three months’ time, and I can teach you the entire mental method to let you fully command it.”

After saying this, Su Lan had an expression of absolute certainty, as if he had no doubt Huo Sining would accept his offer.

However, his confident smile froze on his face the very next second.

Huo Sining was unmoved, and calmly said, “When we get back to the dock, I’ll find a mental institution for you, and personally take you there!”

Having said that, Huo Sining turned and left the room without looking back, leaving behind a man in the cabin whose lips were twitching, seeming to be a likely mental patient.

Inside, Su Lan was almost crumbling. After all, he was a Crown Prince adored and revered by everyone; how could he be treated as a madman here?
