The Ace Bigshot Becomes A Farmgirl

Ms. Yu’s sudden exclamation upon recognizing Meng Yunzheng occurred at the same time Meng Yunzheng said, ”We are leaving the capital tomorrow.”

This startled Aunt Hong, and it took her a while to process what the two of them meant.

The next moment, she furrowed her brow and glared at Ms. Yu, saying, ”What nonsense are you spouting?”

What Master Top Scorer?

If Gouwa’s uncle is really the Master Top Scorer, he should be taking office in the capital. How could he possibly leave the capital tomorrow?

Aunt Hong knew Meng Yunzheng had participated in this exam. If he didn’t score well and was mistakenly recognized as the Master Top Scorer, wouldn’t that poke his sore spot?

Aunt Hong was about to drive Ms. Yu out.

However, Ms. Yu refused to leave, yelling with wide eyes, ”I, I, I’m not talking nonsense. Mother, he really is the Master Top Scorer. I’m sure I didn’t mistake him. That day he paraded on horseback through the streets, and I watched from the side; I saw it clearly, really.”

She might mistakenly recognize other Advanced Scholars since she was surrounded by people, and her view was mostly blocked.

But the Master Top Scorer was on a tall horse, riding first, unobstructed; she saw him clearly.

She then realized why this Young Master Meng looked so familiar. Earlier, she didn’t dare to recognize, but now, after careful consideration, she was even more certain she was absolutely not wrong.

”Mother, he really is the Master Top Scorer. The other onlookers on the street mentioned that the Master Top Scorer is even more handsome than the third place scorer. I also heard them say that the Master Top Scorer is just in his twenties but has won all six exams. If he hadn’t already been engaged to Wen’an County Lord, those high-ranking officials might have already...”

At this point, Ms. Yu instantly fell silent, looking at Shu Yu in shock, ”So, so Lady Lu, you are the Wen’an County Lord??”

Whoa, Gouwa’s uncle and future Cousin Aunt are this impressive?

Aunt Hong heard her speaking so confidently that she was also a bit unsure for a moment.

But, but how is this possible?

She looked at Meng Yunzheng and asked quietly, ”Uncle, are you really...”

Meng Yunzheng nodded, ”Yes, I indeed am this year’s new top scorer.”

Aunt Hong dropped an orange she was holding onto the ground with a ’plop.’ She swallowed hard. She hadn’t gone to see the parade; there were so many people on the streets that day, and at her age, it wasn’t suitable to squeeze in.

But she couldn’t possibly connect Master Top Scorer with Gouwa’s uncle, since Young Master Meng is so young. That six-season winning Master Top Scorer ought to be at least over forty.

That’s not right. She seemed to have heard the Master Top Scorer was quite young, but it didn’t sink in. She heard it and let it go. Initially, her mind was occupied with the thought that the imperial exam was over, wondering if Gouwa also had to leave, so she had no time to care who the Master Top Scorer was.

Aunt Hong looked toward Shu Yu again, so is she really the county magistrate?

Shu Yu picked up the orange from the ground, placed it back on the table, and smiled at Aunt Hong, saying, ”No matter who Yun is, he will always be Lele’s uncle. You needn’t worry too much, Auntie.”

Is this a matter of concern or not?

Aunt Hong held her forehead, then realized another matter of concern, ”Wait, earlier Uncle said, you are leaving the capital tomorrow? You’re the top scorer, and I’ve heard top scorers are supposed to take office in the capital.”

Meng Yunzheng, ”I resigned from the official post.”

Strictly speaking, it doesn’t even count as resignation since the appointment wasn’t official.

But explaining it too complicatedly might confuse Aunt Hong.
