The Ace Bigshot Becomes A Farmgirl

The second floor is like a small, elegant tea bar where Shu Yu can provide a space for art appreciation and book discussions for free. They can’t just visit without spending, right?

The scholars in the capital may not have much, but they have plenty of money for tea and snacks.

Shu Yu spoke with increasing excitement; the second floor is just sitting there, and this small business wouldn’t hurt.

Meng Yunzheng pondered, ”Not bad, the staircase to the second floor is right on the side, so the guests upstairs won’t disturb those downstairs.”

”Hehe, and when passersby see many people coming into the shop, they’ll follow the trend inside to take a look. Whether they buy or not doesn’t matter; the goal is to attract people first.”

Especially when more scholars come, the reputation will grow.

Currently, the second floor just has a few tables, originally meant for meetings and guest receptions, both long and short tables suitable for students to read and write. Simply swapping out the office decorations will do, it’s no trouble.

Shu Yu turned to leave to get started.

Meng Yunzheng quickly held her back, ”Look at the hours, it’s already late, time for dinner, better to go tomorrow.”

Shu Yu slapped her forehead, she was too eager.

No need to rush, she’ll go early tomorrow to buy some brushes, ink, paper, inkstones, and books for the second floor.

Meng Yunzheng laughed, ”Since the second floor has this purpose, one painting isn’t enough, I’ll paint another for you.”

”What will you paint?”

Meng Yunzheng thought for a moment, ”You’ll find out soon.”

He was about to grind the ink, but Shu Yu stopped him, ”You just said I don’t pay attention to the hours, but you’re doing the same. It’s getting dark, not good for painting, bad for the eyes. There’s still time, let’s paint tomorrow.”

”Alright.”

”Then tidy up a bit first, I’ll go talk to Aunt Feng, you come out for dinner later.”

”Okay.”

Shu Yu went out mainly to hire Aunt Feng for work in the backyard of the shop.

Upon hearing this, Aunt Feng was immediately excited and said she’s very willing.

However, Shu Yu still had some concerns, ”I heard before that your husband isn’t well, and you have to go back every day to cook and care for him. The small courtyard in the south of the city is just a few steps from your home, so you’ll be able to rush back after work. But the shop is too far, which won’t be convenient for you.”

Aunt Feng waved her hand, ”No worries, my daughter has returned home and will stay for two to three months. She’ll cook, take care, and prepare medicine for her father.”

”What about after two to three months...”

Aunt Feng said, ”My daughter came back mainly for my son’s wedding. In two months, he’ll get married, and once he has a wife, there’ll be someone at home, so if anything happens to my husband, someone will know.”

She was worried earlier, seeing Young Master Meng becoming an Advanced Scholar. If he’s appointed elsewhere, she wouldn’t be needed anymore. If he becomes an official in the capital, not like now a brief stay, the household will surely need to hire servants.

The old man at home still needs medicine, without money life is hard. Can’t just rely on my son alone, once he marries and has kids in the future, he can’t do it all alone.

Unexpectedly, Lady Lu opened a shop in the capital and continues to employ her, providing monthly wages to sustain.
