The Ace Bigshot Becomes A Farmgirl

Aunt Hong is genuinely kind to her nephew Song Dazhuang. Judging by the condition of the offerings in front of the tombstone, someone visited about ten days ago.

Apart from Aunt Hong, there was no second choice.

Meng Yunzheng took Little Song Le by the hand and led him forward, ”Bow to your father, speak what you want to say, take your time.”

”Okay.” Little Song Le obediently knelt down. He hadn’t seen his father, but Aunt Hong had spoken of him. Though his father became simple-minded, he still cared deeply for him. When he was still in his mother’s womb, his father often spoke to him and said that he would earn money for him to spend.

Meng Yunzheng and Shu Yu didn’t disturb him. They went to the side to look at Uncle Song and his wife’s grave, burning a lot of paper offerings.

Little Song Le inserted the incense properly and spoke in his warm, soft voice, ”Dad, I’m Gouwa, I’ve come to see you. I’m doing well now, studying and learning under my cousin, eating well, dressed warmly, and have many friends... I just miss you and mom. I wish you were by my side. Actually, I actually envy Quanquan a lot because his parents treat him so well. I know you and mom would treat me well too.”

As he spoke, his mood inevitably grew somber. He had made up his mind not to cry when he reached the mountain, yet his eyes couldn’t help but redden.

”Dad, I’m leaving tomorrow, and I don’t know when I’ll be able to see you again. Take care in heaven, please bless me so I can find mom soon, okay? We now have a little clue about mom; Aunt says we’ll surely find her, I also believe mom is waiting for me somewhere. When I find mom, we’ll come to see you together.”

After finishing, he earnestly and sincerely bowed three times. As he got up, he wiped his eyes with his hand, ”Dad, goodbye.”

Little Song Le walked back to Meng Yunzheng, glancing back every few steps. Shu Yu took a handkerchief to wipe his face, ”You finished speaking?”

”Yes.”

Meng Yunzheng then instructed him to kneel before the tombstone in front of them, ”These are your grandparents, bow to them a few times.”

Little Song Le obediently knelt and bowed, ”Grandpa, Grandma, I’m Gouwa, I’ve come to see you.”

Meng Yunzheng patted his head gently, speaking softly, ”Uncle and Aunt, rest assured, I will take good care of Lele. Although we are leaving the capital tomorrow, Shu Yu has ongoing business here. In a couple of years, when Lele is a bit older, we’ll have him accompany the delivery convoy to the capital to see you again.”

Little Song Le, hearing this, his eyes brightened slightly.

Meng Yunzheng burned the last sheet of paper money, extinguished the fire, and gathered the things before taking Little Song Le’s hand and leaving.

At the foot of the mountain, Little Song Le felt a warm breeze gently graze his cheek, slightly tickling and very soothing.

He paused for a moment, and Meng Yunzheng stopped and asked him with lowered eyes, ”What’s wrong?”

”Cousin, can I ask you for a favor?”

”Speak, if your cousin can do it, he’ll definitely make it happen, no need to ask for favors.”

As he spoke, he lifted Little Song Le into the carriage.

The young boy sat obediently until everyone was aboard, then softly said, ”Cousin, can you help me create two portraits, one of my dad and mom? I—I want to keep them as a memento.”

”Of course, we’re heading to the Hong family now. I’ll inquire from Aunt Hong about your parents’ appearance and paint them for you.”

In recounting this, during earlier visits to the Hong family, Meng Yunzheng couldn’t find the time to go; it was Shu Yu who always took Little Song Le to visit.
