The Ace Bigshot Becomes A Farmgirl

Although the Emperor really wanted to mock Meng Yunzheng’s book academy name, he refrained in order to maintain dignity.

He glanced at the court officials below who had different thoughts and said, ”The matter of Top Scholar Meng returning to open a book academy and teach has been granted by me. The matter is settled. Do any of you have other matters to report? If not, then let us end the court session.”

The officials actually had many questions to ask, but after the Emperor spoke, he didn’t give anyone a chance to speak, directly looking at the eunuch.

The Chief Eunuch understood, and shouted loudly, ”Court dismissed—”

The officials could only salute and send off the Emperor. Qi Chan stood in the ranks, his brow tightly furrowed as he looked at Meng Yunzheng still standing in the middle.

No, after the court session ends, he must have a good talk with him. Qi Chan really doesn’t want to miss such a promising young scholar.

However, as soon as the Emperor left, the Chief Eunuch walked up to Meng Yunzheng and said, ”Top Scholar Meng, the words you requested are in the rear hall. The Emperor asks you to go and get them.”

”Alright, thank you for leading the way, sir.”

So Meng Yunzheng was called away by the Emperor, and Qi Chan felt a breath stuck in his chest, almost choking.

He waited outside the palace for half an hour but couldn’t wait for Meng Yunzheng to come out, so he could only frown and ask the coachman to turn around.

After changing out of the official robe at home, Qi Chan got back on the carriage and said to the coachman, ”Go to Futai Street, to the shop run by Wen’an County Lord, where you took the old woman a few days ago. You know the address, right?”

”Yes, yes,” replied the coachman promptly.

Qi Chan closed his eyes and leaned against the carriage, his expression slightly grave.

When the carriage arrived at the entrance of Lu’s on Futai Street, Qi Chan lifted the curtain and looked out, just in time to meet Yao Tianqin, who had also just gotten off his carriage.

Both were momentarily stunned, and Yao Tianqin immediately stepped forward to help Qi Chan down, ”Lord Grand Tutor, what brings you here?”

”I came to find Shu Yu.”

”Then... together?”

”Let’s go in first.”

The staff at the door were originally attending to guests but ran inside to inform Manager Yun as soon as they saw two carriages.

As a local in the capital and known as the hundred-family communicator, Manager Yun immediately recognized Qi Chan and Yao Tianqin once he was outside. Remembering the boss’s earlier instructions, he immediately came forward, lowered his voice, and said, ”Please come inside, both Lords. The boss is on the second floor, I’ll lead you up.”

Qi Chan glanced at Manager Yun and remembered what his Madam had mentioned about the shop on the second floor, nodded, and followed.

Qi Chan originally thought there would be many guests on the second floor, but when he climbed the stairs, he found it was very quiet, unexpectedly without a single guest there, only Shu Yu sitting behind a table drinking tea.

He instantly understood, Shu Yu knew he was coming and was waiting here specially.

Yao Tianqin didn’t think much of it. He hurriedly approached Shu Yu, his tone filled with urgency, ”Yu, do you know about Yunzheng’s plan? Do you know he’s giving up his position to go back and open a book academy, huh?”

Shu Yu poured tea for both, ”Mister Qi, Uncle Yao, please don’t rush, sit down for a moment, have a cup of tea to soothe your throat.”

Qi Chan gave her a displeased glare; how could he be in the mood for tea now?

Yao Tianqin was even less inclined but still pulled a chair for Qi Chan, waited for him to sit down, then sat himself.

Once seated, he couldn’t help but ask, ”Yu, what are you thinking?”

”I am aware of this matter, and I support him.”

”You support him, what about your parents? Does your family also know about his decision?”
