The Ace Bigshot Becomes A Farmgirl

Shu Yu went back to the shop again, and before long Mrs.Jing, Madam Chang, also came over. She arrived late and didn’t manage to run into Old Madam Qi and the others.

But she came and went in a hurry, presented her congratulatory gift, drank half a cup of tea, and then left.

Lord Jing is the Minister of Ministry of Central Judicial Office. Because of the ”prison break” incident at the Qionglin Banquet two days ago, he’s probably so busy now that he can’t split himself in two. As his Madam, Madam Chang most likely doesn’t have any free time either.

In the afternoon, Xiang Weinan came by once; he delivered a congratulatory gift, then went upstairs to greet Meng Yunzheng, and likewise left in a rush.

Only, before he left, in order to take care of Shu Yu’s business, he ordered three hundred taels worth of goods right in front of all the customers on the first floor.

Shu Yu tried to persuade him that it wasn’t necessary, saying he could just come and buy more when he needed to eat.

Xiang Weinan only left a一句 about wanting to give them away as gifts, and then directly left the shop.

Shu Yu was helpless and could only get his goods ready.

After that, the Wan Family also had someone send over a gift. Shu Yu knew this was sent on Madam Hou’s orders. She worried that, given her concubine status, it wouldn’t be appropriate for her to come in person. Even though Shu Yu didn’t mind, she still sent it under the Wan Family’s name.

Only after everyone delivering congratulatory gifts had left did Shu Yu go back up to the second floor.

She hadn’t expected that the second floor, which originally had only about a dozen scholars, had, at some unknown point, suddenly grown; now there were more than twenty people.

Those few young ladies hadn’t left either. No, not only had they not left, it seemed there were even more of them now.

They were in a private room by themselves, chatting, drinking tea, and also... reading?

Shu Yu had indeed placed some books on the second floor and had left quite a few storybooks. What those young ladies were holding were probably the storybooks.

She looked at the guests clearly split into two camps on either side and fell into thought.

Originally she thought it was these scholars who liked Mr. Shanju’s paintings; now it seemed he appealed to men and women, old and young alike.

The second floor’s space was big enough; otherwise, should the private rooms be reserved specially for hosting women?

Just as Shu Yu was thinking this, she saw Chen Kangtai come upstairs carrying a tray with several bowls of Instant Noodles on it.

She was taken aback. ”Who are those for?”

Chen Kangtai chuckled. ”Boss, you don’t know—our dear son-in-law really deserves to be Master Top Scorer; he’s amazing at talking. It’s noon now, right? Son-in-law told everyone to discuss things on their own, said he was hungry, and told me to bring him a bowl of Instant Noodles. The others saw him eating with such relish and couldn’t bear to leave. They asked if I could sell them some. Once they found out the price wasn’t high, each of them ordered a bowl. And not just them—the young ladies in the private room smelled the fragrance and each ordered a bowl too.”

Shu Yu raised her eyebrows and looked up in Meng Yunzheng’s direction, then told Chen Kangtai to quickly carry them in.

After that, Xia Yan also came up carrying a food box and distributed food to everyone.

Shu Yu quietly went back downstairs, and before long, Chen Kangtai came over and said to Manager Yun, ”All the guests upstairs want to buy Instant Noodles. I’ve written it all down. Shopkeeper, take a look and get them ready later; I’ll come down to pick them up.”

Manager Yun looked at the order and beamed, patting him on the shoulder. ”Not bad, kid.”

Chen Kangtai smiled sheepishly. ”This is all thanks to our son-in-law. I’ll head back up to work first.”

”Go on.”

As soon as he left, Shu Yu leaned over to look at the order. Good grief, the smallest order was for twenty noodle cakes, and the biggest was for fifty. Could they even finish all that?

Shu Yu shook her head and went back to serving customers.

The customers on the second floor were placing orders like crazy, and the customers on the first floor were not far behind either.
