The Ace Bigshot Becomes A Farmgirl

Chapter 1593: Chapter 1593: The Children’s Rewards Must Not Be Shortened

Shu Yu turned her head and waved at them, ”You’re here?”

”Sister Village Chief.” The group of children ran to within three steps of Shu Yu and came to a halt with a clatter, greeting her somewhat shyly.

They were the ones who helped Shu Yu spread the word everywhere yesterday, the main force behind selling to customers in the streets and alleys.

Shu Yu counted the number of people, ”Is everyone here? Come inside with me.”

A group of children pushed and shoved their way into the shop, not daring to look around once inside. Especially since there were quite a few customers in the shop, the kids felt even more anxious under their curious gazes, hurriedly following Shu Yu to the backyard.

In the backyard, with no people around, only then did they let out a sigh of relief, daring to raise their heads and look around.

The courtyard was large; when it was renovated, it wasn’t just practicality that was considered; the scenery was also very attractive. There was a rockery and pond in the courtyard’s center. Though not large, it was still a scene to behold.

Listening to the trickling water could also make one feel at ease.

Shu Yu said to them, ”You sit here for a while, I’ll go to my room and will be right back.”

”Okay, Sister Village Chief.”

After Shu Yu left, the group of children curiously watched the rockery and pond in the center. Someone sharp-eyed whispered, ”Look, there are fish in there.”

”It must be nice living here, with such a big courtyard and so many rooms.”

”Of course, this is Sister Village Chief’s shop. Do you know how impressive the Village Chief is? She has even met the emperor.”

Shu Yu just stepped out of the room, ”...” No, I haven’t met the emperor. If you’re going to brag about me, at least be realistic, okay?

She chuckled and shook her head, taking a few steps forward.

The children who were talking fell silent instantly, looking at her obediently, ”Sister Village Chief.”

Shu Yu sat down on the stone bench, holding a pouch in her hand, much larger than the one she handed to Meng Yunzheng yesterday.

At that moment, the pouch was placed on the stone table, making a jingling and clattering sound. The group of kids widened their eyes instantly.

Shu Yu said, ”As we agreed before, you worked diligently yesterday, so there’s no way your wages would be short. Now, line up one by one.”

The children were instantly filled with excitement.

In fact, Shu Yu had promised them that they could get paid on the same day.

But since they stopped working by 1 p.m., after all, they were just kids. Shu Yu couldn’t really let them shout all day long; she wasn’t there to exploit them. So, she let them take breaks and made sure they didn’t get too tired.

Later, after the children were done by 1 p.m., they came over. But the leader among them saw how busy it was in the shop, with people crowded together, even the boss, Monarch Lu Xiang, was personally serving customers. To ask for their wages at that time seemed a bit thoughtless and would disrupt their work.

So, when Shu Yu saw them and invited them in, the leader of the kids quickly said, ”Sister Village Chief, you go ahead and work, we’ll head back first and come back tomorrow.”

After saying that, the group of children quickly ran off, and Shu Yu didn’t even have time to stop them.

But the rewards for the children had been prepared early on; she was worried they might miss each other since she got up late today. Unexpectedly, they came just at the right time.

Inside the pouch were strings of coins. When Shu Yu saw they had lined up, she handed them out one by one.
