The Ace Bigshot Becomes A Farmgirl

Chapter 1565: Chapter 1565: Xia Yan’s Performance

Although Xia Yan appeared hurried, he was not walking fast.

Especially when there were pedestrians blocking the way, he would slow down, but once in open areas, he would quicken his pace. Hence, he seemed anxious, yet his actual speed remained steady.

Only after confirming that Hao Dingshan and the man behind could keep up, did he stop controlling his pace, and even started running later on.

Seeing him run, Hao Dingshan exchanged a glance with the person next to him, ”Did he discover us?”

”Doesn’t seem like it.”

”Let’s go, follow him.”

Fortunately, Xia Yan soon stopped, raising his eyes to look at the medical shop not far away.

Hao Dingshan also saw the medical shop and frowned slightly, ”Isn’t that the shop Zhao Xi is preparing to open?”

As they spoke, Xia Yan had already entered, looking around, and upon seeing Zhao Xi, hurried forward, ”Young Master Zhao, you are really here.”

Zhao Xi was at the counter identifying medicinal herbs, and the medical shop was almost ready for opening. Once Shuyou gave birth, it would start operating.

Currently, they were just stocking various medicinal herbs, and upon seeing Xia Yan enter in a hurry, Zhao Xi paused and asked, ”What happened? Why are you in such a hurry?”

”Just...” Xia Yan wanted to speak but clamped his mouth shut upon seeing the people in the shop.

Zhao Xi glanced at the two pharmacists assisting in the shop, then raised his voice towards Doctor Xu who was calculating on the other side, ”Uncle Xu, watch over here, I’ll go to the back courtyard to discuss something.”

Doctor Xu waved without lifting his head, ”Go ahead, go ahead.”

Feigning casualness near the doorway, Hao Dingshan overheard, and immediately led another person around to the back courtyard first.

The back courtyard door was half-open, and taking advantage of the inattention inside, the two slipped in directly and hid.

By the time Zhao Xi wiped his hands and arranged the herbs before leading Xia Yan into the back courtyard, Hao Dingshan had already hidden himself well.

Two staff were still in the back courtyard, moving things. They had just brought two baskets of herbs from the doorway into the storeroom, thus didn’t notice Hao Dingshan and the other person slip in.

Zhao Xi asked them, ”Have all the herbs from the cart been moved?”

Both nodded, ”Moved.”

”Then go help at the front, I’ll handle things here. I’ll call you if anything’s needed.”

”Alright.” The two rested the shoulder pole by the door, tidied up slightly, and left.

Before leaving, one of the staff gave Zhao Xi a look and glanced at the open room beside the storeroom.

Zhao Xi nodded, indicating he understood.

The courtyard was a bit messy, herbs were scattered everywhere, and some freshly picked ones lay unprocessed and unsunned, nearly filling the yard.

Zhao Xi went to close the rear door and then said to Xia Yan, ”Come on, let’s talk inside.”

”No, once the door is shut inside the room, we won’t know if anyone enters the back courtyard. Let’s talk here in the yard, so we can see if someone moves.”

Zhao Xi frowned, ”Is it really that serious? Making you so cautious?”

Xia Yan nodded solemnly.

Zhao Xi pursed his lips, ”Alright, I understand. But standing in the middle of the yard talking in this heat is rather strange.”

He looked around but found few places to set foot, except a relatively open space between the rear door and the storeroom.

Thus, he pointed, ”Let’s go there, where anyone entering through the front or rear door can be seen.”

The direction he pointed to was under the porch in front of the storeroom, shaded and well-positioned.
