The Ace Bigshot Becomes A Farmgirl

Chapter 1569: Chapter 1569: Lu’s Grand Opening

Early the next morning, Meng Yunzheng set out for the prefecture to find Shu Yu.

He started early, yet the opening time at the prefecture was even earlier.

Just as dawn broke, the boards of Lu’s Shop were removed, and the large eight-panel door was wide open, attracting curious looks from the morning passersby.

There weren’t many people around at this hour. Shu Yu walked out of the door, took a deep breath of the fresh, cool air, and felt instantly revitalized.

Ying Xi quickly draped a coat over her shoulders, ”Miss, it’s still a bit chilly now, don’t catch a cold.”

”It’s okay, I’m being careful.” She turned around, looked at the people standing inside the shop, and clapped her hands, ”Okay, everyone, let’s get busy. Today will be tiring, so thank you for your hard work. Let’s get started.”

”Yes, boss.” Daniu and Wei Ronghua took the lead and started working immediately.

Shu Yu went to the backyard, carefully picked up the pull-up banner painted by Meng Yunzheng, set up the wooden stand and pole, and placed it at the entrance.

She had just set it up when a hurried passerby stopped in surprise and couldn’t help but take a closer look, ”This thing is really interesting; it looks so real, especially the child in the painting.”

Seizing the opportunity, Shu Yu introduced, ”Eldest Uncle, if you have some time, you can come inside the shop and take a look. We’re having a raffle today since it’s our opening day.”

The man originally showed little reaction, but upon hearing the words ’have some time’, he shook his head repeatedly and slapped his forehead, ”Oh dear, I don’t have time; I have to hurry to work, almost forgot.”

He said this and was about to leave but suddenly retraced his steps hurriedly back.

”Miss, what did you just say? A raffle?”

Glancing up, he said, ”Oh, I remember now, your place is the one mentioned in the rhyme that is opening on the first day of Fengtao Lane, right?”

”Yes, that’s right.”

The man was a bit anxious, ”Is there a raffle or something? Do you still have it tonight? I’ll be busy until late at night, will I make it?”

Shu Yu smiled, ”You’ll definitely make it. When you get back, our shop will still be open, and you can come and participate in the raffle then.”

”That’s great, let’s agree on that. I have to go now, I’m pressed for time.”

Shu Yu nodded with a smile, and the man hurriedly ran forward, suddenly pausing as if struck by a thought.

He remembered people saying the boss of Lu’s was that Village Chief Lu Xiang, and wondered if the refined lady who spoke to him was actually her.

Unable to resist, he glanced back. Are all village chiefs so approachable?

Shu Yu was very satisfied with the impact of the painting by Meng Yunzheng. See, even passersby in a rush couldn’t help but stop and take a look—no wonder, it was by Mr. Shanju.

Shu Yu nodded, securing the pull-up banner before stepping back into the shop.

Daniu brought a string of firecrackers to the entrance. After glancing at the upright painting, he decided to move the firecrackers a bit further away to avoid accidentally hitting it.

Ying Xi, along with Wei Fangfang who came to help, arranged several flower baskets by the door. The most noticeable were the two large sunflower disks, making the entire storefront appear bright and welcoming.

Wei Ronghua and a few others set up the raffle prizes for the day, wiped down the counters again, and laid a red carpet on the floor, giving the whole shop an air of festive joy.

The stock was piled up to the brim, with three or four small scales ready on the side to meet customer needs at any moment.
