The Ace Bigshot Becomes A Farmgirl

Capítulo 1556: Chapter 1556: The Lin Family and the Zhou Family

However, Dazhuang was busy and seldom returned home.

The Lin family’s parents were soft in nature, and the matters of the two brothers were decided by themselves.

Therefore, without Dazhuang, the Lin family would not impulsively agree to his marriage. In contrast, Daqiang had more people proposing marriage for him.

Unfortunately, Daqiang had just tasted the profits from the sunflower field and was eager to expand and become the top household in the village. He was now spending all his time in the fields taking care of those precious crops, with no interest in marriage at all.

To any of his parents’ earnest advice, he would use Dazhuang as an excuse, saying how could the younger brother get married when the elder brother wasn’t yet?

Thus, the Lin family’s parents could only nag about marriage to Dazhuang on the rare occasions he came home.

Dazhuang actually didn’t mind having a look, but he was genuinely busy lately and kept postponing it.

This postponement led him to meet Second Sister Zhou.

As for the Zhou family’s request to delay the marriage by two years, Dazhuang had no objections. He was thinking of working hard for these two years to save some money, have more extravagant betrothal gifts, make the wedding more lively, and avoid living on tight means in the future.

After all, Second Sister Zhou’s elder sister had married Daniu, who was now quite wealthy. As the future brother-in-law, Dazhuang indeed felt a lot of pressure.

Since Dazhuang said so, the Lin family’s parents couldn’t say much more.

As long as the engagement could be settled, it was good enough, and the younger one would soon follow the elder.

So this morning, Zhou Qiao accompanied Father Zhou to Shangshi Village to visit the Lin family and assess their situation.

Father Zhou was mentally prepared, knowing that the Lin family currently had little money and that it was normal for the house to be worn out. Mainly, he wanted to see the character of the Lin family’s parents, whether the siblings were easy to get along with, and Dazhuang’s nature.

Both families got along harmoniously, and the discussions went so well that they came to a decision.

The Lin family would pick a date in the next couple of days, select a time for the engagement, and then visit the Zhou family to propose formally.

Zhou Qiao breathed a sigh of relief, then angrily said, “It was only after confirming things with the Lin family that I found out my second aunt brought a man home during the Mid-Autumn Festival and then called my Second Sister over to her house, wanting them to meet. If it weren’t for my Second Sister sensing something was off and finding an excuse to run home, who knows what my second aunt might have done.”

The old lady comforted her, “Now that your sister’s engagement is settled, your second aunt can’t interfere, so don’t be upset.”

Zhou Qiao nodded, and then asked about Shu Yu opening her shop.

Shu Yu unfolded the promotional picture for them to see, “This was drawn by Yun, how is it? Beautiful, right?”

Zhou Qiao and the old lady’s eyes lit up, “These two little ones are so cute.”

While speaking, Zhou Qiao looked at the little Zaozao in her arms. The little girl widened her round eyes and reached out with an “ah ah” sound, as if there really was a little friend there.

Zhou Qiao quickly took a few steps back while holding her, preventing her from damaging the painting.

“Young Master Meng is truly impressive, painting so vividly.”

Shu Yu contentedly accepted all the praise, as if she had painted it, “Tomorrow I’ll have Father make the base and support, and on opening day, I’ll place it at the shop entrance. It’s sure to attract many people inside to take a look.”

Not only on the opening day, but even these past few days, whenever any of the Lu family saw this painting, they couldn’t help but glance repeatedly. It wasn’t until Shu Yu, carrying the base Lu Erbai made along with the painting back to the prefecture, that they finally settled down.
