The Ace Bigshot Becomes A Farmgirl

Chapter 1574: Chapter 1574: Consolation Prize Draws a Crowd

Shu Yu took out a paper package from the basket; it wasn’t large, and the amount was limited.

Actually, this is just a small snack because everyone gets a comfort prize, so naturally, it can’t be too much, otherwise she would suffer a big loss.

Even though she organized such a big event for the store opening to gain fame, making a loss is worth it. Earning a little bit is still something.

Shu Yu opened the paper bag, revealing the popcorn inside.

As soon as she did, the fragrance became even stronger for those nearby.

This is the comfort prize?! This is actually the comfort prize!!

The customer who won the prize took a deep breath, ”Is this called popcorn?”

Shu Yu nodded, ”Yes, this is popcorn. This portion is for you, give it a try. It’s better when eaten hot; when it’s cold, the texture won’t be as good, but it’s still okay. Just don’t keep it for too long; don’t eat it overnight.”

Actually, as long as popcorn is stored properly, eating it overnight is no problem.

But given the limited storage conditions of these times, plus some people might think of it as a snack and a novelty, and are reluctant to finish it all at once and keep it for a long time, that’s not so good.

After giving the instructions, Shu Yu handed over the paper package.

The popcorn was still warm, having just been popped. Yesterday afternoon, Wang Kangfu, the steward from the Instant Noodles workshop, came by. Originally a chef, today he was asked to bring a staff member to the kitchen to pop the popcorn.

And indeed, Wang Kangfu was very interested.

He didn’t know before that such a small kernel of corn could turn into something so delicious.

Now he has many ideas, thinking he might try other things in the future.

There were a lot of comfort prizes, so there was also quite a bit of popcorn.

Shu Yu thought of this and then called for the next person to come up for the draw.

The third person immediately became very enthusiastic; at first, he was aiming for the first prize, as it must be valuable. But later, seeing someone get the fifth prize, he thought the fifth prize was good.

Now that he saw the comfort prize, he unexpectedly found it very appealing too.

Especially after watching the second prize draw winner eat a piece of popcorn, his eyes lit up. He quickly started to salivate and swallowed hard.

The number of people winning the earlier prizes was limited; most still received comfort prizes.

So this person drew and still got a comfort prize.

But he didn’t feel the slightest bit disappointed. Instead, he was very excited, taking the paper package Ying Xi handed over and eagerly opened it to eat two pieces.

”Delicious, so fragrant!”

The onlookers, originally just watching the excitement, now were all eager to go to the front to buy melon seeds.

The fifth prize didn’t attract them, but a comfort prize made everyone impatiently take out their money.

After all, there aren’t many fifth prizes, and they might not get them. But everyone gets a comfort prize; even with bad luck, you’d at least get some popcorn to take home, right?

Then after trying the melon seeds, they found them very tasty too.

Especially with Wei Ronghua explaining on the side, ”Melon seeds can be served to guests, accompany drinks, or be given as gifts. If you have nothing to do, crack a couple. They’re small, so you can grab a handful when you go out to work, and have them as a snack when you’re tired. They’re good for chatting and passing the time. If you don’t want to crack them, we have shelled ones here too, and they taste great.”

After introducing the melon seeds, he then introduced the sunflower oil.

”That comfort prize popcorn is made with sunflower oil; isn’t it fragrant? It’s just as fragrant when used in cooking. You can see the color is bright and clean; even the nobles in the palace use it.”
