The Ace Bigshot Becomes A Farmgirl

Chapter 1590: Chapter 1590: Issuing Bonuses

Shu Yu was quite satisfied with today’s successful start. ”Everyone has worked hard. We’ve been busy all day, and we’re all tired. I mentioned earlier that if the sales are good, I’d give everyone a bonus. Now that everyone is here, let’s hand out the money and make everyone happy. If the sales are maintained at the end of the month, we’ll add more.”

No one was unhappy upon hearing about the bonus.

Even though everyone was obviously very tired, their eyes collectively brightened, and they all perked up.

Shu Yu took out a pouch and, without any fuss, directly gave each person one tael of silver.

Daniu and Wei Ronghua were exceptions—one had a share of the profit, the other had a higher wage—so their expressions remained relatively calm upon receiving the money.

But for others whose wages were limited, a tael of silver wasn’t a small sum to them, unlike for those with money.

”Boss, isn’t this too much?” Ren Yiping swallowed his saliva, restraining his excitement as he asked.

”You think it’s too much to have money?” Shu Yu laughed, ”Just take it. I told you, as long as everyone works together and strives for Lu’s, I won’t treat you badly.”

”I get one too?” Xia Yan was pleasantly surprised as he held the tael of silver and glanced at Ying Xi beside him.

Ying Xi was much more composed. Although she was a servant, her mistress often rewarded her, so she had saved quite a bit of private money.

Xia Yan chuckled, and upon seeing Meng Yunzheng nod, he finally accepted it with peace of mind.

However, Meng Yunzheng, who sat behind the counter, supported his head as he asked Shu Yu, ”Don’t I get one?”

”Of course, you do.” Shu Yu stuffed the remaining silver in the pouch to him. ”The painting outside is yours, but your paintings are too valuable, I really can’t afford them. Fortunately, what’s yours is mine, so we won’t fuss about it. The money in the pouch is for your daily expenses.”

Meng Yunzheng, ”...”

Others, ”...”

Shu Yu had a serene expression; what did she say wrong?

Meng Yunzheng laughed and, after remaining silent for a while, nodded, ”Makes sense.” Then naturally, he kept the pouch.

Others, ”...” They felt they were being shown off.

Wei Ronghua acted as if he hadn’t heard anything, ”Alright, alright, it’s late. Let’s all rest first since we have to open early tomorrow.”

Everyone else chimed in, ”Yes, yes, we’re so tired.”

Except for Wei Ronghua, everyone headed towards the backyard.

Shu Yu and Meng Yunzheng exchanged a glance and laughed.

Once everyone left, Shu Yu put away the account book and the money, and the two sat behind the counter, slowly eating the late-night snack Daniau and the others brought back.

Although Daniau and the others ate simply, what they brought back for them was fish and meat, the meal was not lacking at all.

Shu Yu had eaten halfway and started feeling full. Watching Meng Yunzheng carefully pick out fish bones and place the deboned fish into her bowl, Shu Yu quickly declined, ”You eat it; I don’t need any more. Eating too much will keep me awake.”

Meng Yunzheng then stopped his hands and focused on eating his own meal.

Shu Yu propped her arm and tilted her head as she watched him, finding him more handsome the more she looked. Not only was he good-looking, but he was also considerate and capable. Just thinking about it made her heart flutter...

Shu Yu suddenly shook her head, thinking, today is so tiring, no time for romantic thoughts.

She sighed and recalled the words of the middle-aged scholar beside the magistrate during the day, unable to resist asking softly, ”What is your plan, exactly?”
