The Ace Bigshot Becomes A Farmgirl

Chapter 1585: Chapter 1585: The Grand Prize Must Be a Rag Doll

The crying was sharp and angry, immediately putting an end to the excited discussions among the guests who were eager to decide the prizes for others. Everyone, including Shu Yu, turned to look at the sobbing little girl.

The child appeared to be about four or five years old, standing next to the young woman who had won the first prize. She tilted her head up with her eyes closed, tears streaming down.

The young woman was quite startled and quickly crouched down to soothe her, ”Shuangshuang, what’s wrong? Don’t cry, Mother is here.”

The little girl named Shuangshuang was patted on the back and coaxed a few times, and her voice did lower slightly, but her sobbing didn’t lessen in the least.

Fortunately, she explained the reason while crying, ”I don’t want the golden hairpin, don’t want the ornament, I want the rag doll, I want the floral rag doll. Boo hoo... I don’t want it, it was clearly my draw, I want the rag doll.”

Everyone immediately understood upon hearing this.

The young woman felt a bit of a headache, ”But we won the first prize, and the rag doll is only the fourth prize. The first prize is better than the fourth prize.”

Others also chimed in to persuade.

But such reasoning was absolutely futile for a pampered young child who couldn’t accept such logic about first and fourth prizes.

”Mother, you clearly promised me to draw the rag doll, I want the rag doll.”

An awkward expression briefly crossed the young woman’s face. That’s what she said, but didn’t they win something better? The double-sided embroidery ornament was so pretty and far more valuable than the rag doll, and missing it would mean having none.

But her daughter didn’t understand this; she was single-mindedly focused on the rag doll.

The young woman’s headache grew worse, and when her daughter cried to the point of nearly fainting, she finally couldn’t help sighing, looked up at Shu Yu, and asked, ”Monarch Lu Xiang, well... can the rag doll be bought?”

Shu Yu shook her head, ”Sorry, the rag dolls are in limited supply and are reserved as prizes. If they could be sold, then there wouldn’t be enough fourth prize rewards.”

Rag dolls weren’t expensive, and many families with money often came to buy things. If they liked it and wanted to buy it, they would be sold out before long.

The young woman gritted her teeth, ”Then, can I exchange the first prize for the fourth prize?”

This request wasn’t unreasonable, considering exchanging a higher prize for a lower one.

However, once such a precedent was set, things could easily get out of hand later.

Since it’s a raffle, it has to follow the rules. Otherwise, if everyone is dissatisfied and wants to exchange, then the prize setting would be meaningless.

Shu Yu still shook her head. Just when the madam frowned in disappointment, she suddenly spoke again, ”We have rules for the raffle. However, once guests have collected their prizes and left our shop, how they handle them is not something we can control.”

As soon as she said this, others immediately caught on and suggested to the young woman, ”You can ask the person who won the fourth prize to buy it.”

The rag doll should be quite cheap.

The young woman seemed to come from a well-off family and could completely ask someone who wasn’t as well off but had won the fourth prize to exchange.

But this idea, the young woman had already considered from the moment her daughter passed by the shop entrance and saw someone holding a rag doll, clamoring for it. She had already approached and negotiated with that person.

Unfortunately, the person who won the fourth prize and chose the rag doll was clearly not lacking in money. Something they liked, how could they possibly sell it?

The young woman had no choice, so she discussed it with her daughter. They went into the shop to join the raffle, and let her try her luck, but instructed her not to make a fuss if they didn’t get it.
