The Ace Bigshot Becomes A Farmgirl

Chapter 1400: Chapter 1400: Scholar Meng Is Number One

Shu Yu raised her eyebrows, it seemed that the candidate was quite good.

She couldn’t help but glance at Meng Yunzheng beside her, though he wore a curtain hat, Shu Yu could still sense him smiling at her.

As they reached the door of the private room, Shu Yu asked the staff, ”Your restaurant is offering specials for the third-place candidate. Wouldn’t the tavern or restaurant where the second and first place candidates are staying be even livelier?”

The staff chuckled, ”No, no, the second place candidate is a local, he’s staying at home. As for the first place...”

Shu Yu suddenly felt a bit nervous.

The staff chuckled merrily, ”The scholar who got first place rented a courtyard to live in himself.”

Shu Yu’s eyes brightened when she heard about renting a courtyard, ”Do you know the name of the Top Scorer?”

”Meng Yunzheng, Scholar Meng.”

Shu Yu abruptly grasped Meng Yunzheng’s hand and turned her head to look at him.

It’s really him, he is indeed the Top Scorer again.

The Dongqing Temple master looked down at their clasped hands, then turned away, entering the private room first.

The staff didn’t notice anything unusual about them; seeing Shu Yu’s interest in these matters, he shared a bit more.

”Miss, you wouldn’t know, that courtyard where Scholar Meng lives is surrounded by quite a few people now. Such a pity, Scholar Meng left town early in the morning, and nobody knows where he went. Isn’t it strange? On such an important day, he actually went out of town. What could be more important than the results of the academy examination? After ten years of hard study, isn’t this the moment he’s been waiting for?”

Shu Yu turned her head to look at Meng Yunzheng, what could be more important than the exam results? It’s her matters indeed.

Her nose felt a bit sour, Shu Yu immediately pressed her lips tightly together.

The staff continued, ”But when Scholar Meng’s courtyard is rented out again in the future, the rent will surely be double what it is now. Tsk tsk, wouldn’t it have been great if Young Master Meng stayed at our restaurant? After Young Master Xun came third, our shopkeeper immediately waived his room and meal expenses for those days.”

Shu Yu exhaled, ”Maybe the landlord of Young Master Meng’s rented courtyard will also waive his rent?”

The staff froze, scratching his head, ”Miss, you might be right.” But still, feeling unsatisfied, he added, ”But if he had stayed at our restaurant, who knows, our shopkeeper might have even provided some travel expenses.”

The landlord of that courtyard would surely not be so generous, after all, they run a business.

This time Shu Yu didn’t argue, she knew it was enough that Yun was indeed the Top Scorer.

The staff saw everyone seated and quickly asked, ”What would you like to eat, guests? Our restaurant has a few signature dishes that are quite good.”

”No need, we’ll eat lightly...”

Meng Yunzheng hadn’t finished speaking when he heard the Dongqing Temple master say, ”Don’t worry about me, since today is a good day, we should celebrate, order a few major dishes.”

Even though he said so, Meng Yunzheng still ordered only three major dishes, with the rest being relatively light.

The Dongqing Temple master didn’t say anything on the surface, but in his heart, he was quite content with this decision.

Once the staff left, Shu Yu immediately grabbed Meng Yunzheng’s hand, ”You’ve really passed, Top Scorer, Triple Success.”

”So happy?”

”Of course I’m happy.”

”Then eat a bit more later.” Actually, compared to becoming the Top Scorer, Meng Yunzheng was happier to reunite with her.

It’s been almost half a year since they last saw each other.

Thank goodness these few exams are finally over.

Once the staff delivered the dishes and left, Meng Yunzheng took off the curtain hat.
