The Ace Bigshot Becomes A Farmgirl

Chapter 1357: Chapter 1357: Getting Cold Feet

Shu Yu couldn’t help but pat Little Song Le’s head and said with a smile, ”Don’t worry, I promise the beads won’t fall when they’re with Aunt. When you grow up and can take care of them, I’ll return them to you, okay?”

She was worried that today’s incident might happen again, fortunate that Yuan Shanchuan had seen it this time, but what about next time?

Right now Little Song Le is still young. When he grows up and becomes sensible, Shu Yu and Meng Yunzheng will explain his background and the origin of the beads to him, and then he can decide what to do with them.

Little Song Le pressed his lips together, glanced reluctantly at the beads, then nodded emphatically.

Actually, he has always held onto these beads because they are what his father left behind, very important.

He is a small, lonely person, with only these beads accompanying him, just like his parents are with him, making him feel he isn’t alone.

Back then, every night before going to bed, he would look at these beads.

But now things are different. He has an aunt and an uncle who are very, very good to him, has Quanquan and Maneki playing with him, and many, many people who are kind to him.

He often falls asleep right away after taking a bath, and hasn’t looked at the beads before bed for a long time.

Aunt won’t harm him; if she wants the beads, it must be for something important.

Little Song Le raised his head and embraced Shu Yu, ”Aunt, I’ll leave the beads with you.”

His serious demeanor in entrusting something valuable made Shu Yu chuckle.

”Alright.”

She put away the beads, secretly breathed a sigh of relief.

Then she chatted with him for a while, asked if he was happy today and if he had made any new friends.

Until the child yawned and his eyes were barely open, Shu Yu gently patted his back, coaxed him to sleep, covered him with a blanket, and left.

Ms. Niu was sitting nearby in the corridor, leaning against a pillar and dozing off.

Hearing Shu Yu coming out, she quickly got up and approached, ”Second Young Lady.”

Shu Yu lowered her voice, ”He’s asleep, you can go in now.”

”Yes.”

Shu Yu left, the beads in her hand inexplicably feeling a bit hot.

But having resolved this matter, she did breathe a big sigh of relief.

However, it seems that the renovation of Black Market Manor might have to be postponed.

Luckily, they weren’t in a hurry anyway.

Once this was done, Shu Yu went back to being busy again.

There wasn’t much to do at the workshop, and with two stewards there, Daniu returned to the village, sold the sunflower seeds to the villagers, and started teaching them how to plant them.

Some people in the village thought these folks were fools, not planting good grains but planting flowers instead? At least they were skilled in growing grains, but sunflowers were a new and rare thing, no one had ever planted them, and if things went wrong in the future, let’s see how they handle it.

Especially Daqiang who risked all his land, truly crazy.

Some families were stirred by these words into a panic, thinking of backing out.

But having bought the seeds and signed the contracts, even if they wanted to renege, the others wouldn’t agree.

Fortunately, they hadn’t planted much, and seeing Daqiang’s determined stance, they eventually settled down and started working seriously.

Daniu was in Shangshi Village, and Zhou Qiao was there naturally as well.

She indeed didn’t like living with Madam Li, but although Madam Li didn’t like her as a daughter-in-law, she was good to her granddaughter. Just because of this, Zhou Qiao felt there wasn’t much to fuss about, she was already better off than most people in the village, especially having servants to look after her.
