The Ace Bigshot Becomes A Farmgirl

Chapter 1391: Chapter 1391: The Day the Exam Results Are Posted

Aunt He was curious, ”Other behavior? What kind of behavior?”

Xia Yan clicked his tongue, ”That’s when Lady Lu says east, and our Sir absolutely won’t go west. Even if Lady Lu wants the stars in the sky, our Sir will find a way to fetch them for her. Our Sir remains loyal to Lady Lu; he doesn’t spare a glance for any other girl. If anyone dares to harm Lady Lu, our Sir will definitely take them down...”

”These words should be spoken in front of Yu.” Suddenly, Meng Yunzheng’s voice came from behind.

Xia Yan was so startled he jumped up, taking two steps back repeatedly, ”Sir, Sir, you’re out. Has Lady Lu gone to sleep?”

Meng Yunzheng glanced at him sideways, ”Are you very idle?”

”No, Sir, I’m very busy.”

Meng Yunzheng thrust the tray in his hand into Xia Yan’s hands without expression, ”Feed the horse later, and get the carriage ready to leave the city early tomorrow morning.”

”Understood, Sir.”

Meng Yunzheng turned and walked away. Aunt He didn’t touch her pounding heart until his figure disappeared.

Yet, in the next moment, she seemed to realize something and suddenly lifted her head, ”Are you leaving the city tomorrow? But isn’t tomorrow morning when the exam results are announced?”

Xia Yan shrugged, ”Didn’t I already tell you? Compared to things with Lady Lu, the exam results aren’t important at all.”

Aunt He took a while to comprehend what he meant, so Lady Lu wasn’t here to keep an eye on him?

Xia Yan didn’t chat with her much longer; he had matters to attend to. He took the tray to the kitchen.

Seeing it was getting late, Aunt He hurried to finish the laundry, then went to the kitchen to make dinner, and returned home before dark.

Shu Yu had a nap and felt revitalized.

When she woke up, Meng Yunzheng was in the room. He had slept here the previous night, but there was another bed in the room. In this weather, sleeping on the mattress was nice and cool.

”Feeling better?”

Meng Yunzheng looked at the injury on her palm. Fortunately, Zhao Xi’s medicine worked well, and Shu Yu’s wound wasn’t much of a problem anymore.

Shu Yu moved her limbs. While there was still some stiffness, she could move without issue.

Nevertheless, Meng Yunzheng personally went to bring food over.

So, early in the morning, Aunt He, who came to make breakfast, once again witnessed him feeding Shu Yu.

After eating, Shu Yu seemed eager to leave the city.

By now, the city gates were likely open. Meng Yunzheng instructed Xia Yan to prepare the carriage and bring it to the entrance. He helped Shu Yu out the door.

Then he returned and gave Aunt He a money bag.

”Please keep an eye on the house, Aunt. If we return late and the officers come to report our success, just use this money as a reward.”

Aunt He suddenly felt a bit nervous, ”Why, doesn’t Young Master Meng wait until the officers announce the results before leaving? It won’t make much of a difference, after all. The exam results are a significant event.”

”Can’t wait.” Meng Yunzheng waved his hand, quickly exited, and got onto the carriage.

”Let’s go.”

Xia Yan snapped the reins, and the carriage rumbled towards the city gate.

Meng Yunzheng placed soft cushions behind Shu Yu’s back for her to sit more comfortably.

Shu Yu wasn’t quite nimble yet, so she leaned back in the carriage with her eyes closed, resting.

Hence, she didn’t realize that today the streets were already bustling early in the morning. There were far more people than the day before, especially those anxious and nervous candidates crowding around the bulletin board early.
