The Ace Bigshot Becomes A Farmgirl

Chapter 1388: Chapter 1388: Meng Yunzheng Applies Medicine

Shu Yu was taken aback, suddenly turning her head, looking at him with surprise, “Yun!”

Meng Yunzheng sighed in relief, looking at her weary and haggard face, feeling somewhat helpless and distressed, “Luckily, I arrived in time; otherwise, you would have gotten hurt badly. Even if you’re in a hurry, you should have come by carriage.”

“I was afraid I wouldn’t make it.” Shu Yu’s hands and feet trembled slightly, “Is my master still here?”

“Yes.” Meng Yunzheng carried her into the courtyard, calling back to Xia Yan, “You help Ying Xi.”

It was clear neither of them could walk anymore.

Shu Yu breathed a sigh of relief; as long as her master was still here, she felt at ease snuggling in Meng Yunzheng’s arms as he carried her into the courtyard.

The gate opened, and Shu Yu realized there was someone inside.

An elderly woman was washing clothes in the courtyard. Seeing them, she hurriedly stood up, “Young Master Meng.”

Meng Yunzheng nodded slightly, carrying Shu Yu further into the house, while the woman curiously observed their backs.

They entered the room, and Meng Yunzheng poured her a cup of water, feeding her to drink. Then he went outside and fetched a basin of hot water, using it to wipe her face.

Shu Yu didn’t have to move at all, as her palms were blistered, and her arms were trembling.

Looking at her swollen and blistered palms, Meng Yunzheng furrowed his brow tightly, somewhat regretting sending that letter.

“Were you really that anxious?” He seemed angry, not knowing whether he was upset with himself or with her.

Shu Yu pursed her lips; she found it hard to explain her many doubts that needed answers.

For instance, she wanted to know whether her master knew she had traveled through time, whether he knew about Shu Yu’s matters, why he didn’t directly tell her about her past. These questions had lingered in her mind for a long, long time, always a source of inner turmoil.

So this time, upon learning her master’s whereabouts, she had rushed over urgently, but she couldn’t explain it clearly to Meng Yunzheng.

“Sorry, it won’t happen next time.”

Meng Yunzheng looked up at her exhausted appearance and, in the end, didn’t say anything further.

He retrieved some ointment, carefully applying it to her wounds. Shu Yu recoiled slightly, and Meng Yunzheng glanced at her.

She forced a smile, “It hurts.”

Meng Yunzheng blew on her wounds, speaking to divert her attention, “Once your hands are treated, I’ll have Aunt He apply medicine to your legs. What do you feel like eating tonight? I’ll cook for you later.”

Since her hands were already in such a state, her thighs were naturally worse off. But given they weren’t married yet, it wasn’t proper.

Aunt He?

Shu Yu turned her head, “Is that the woman in the courtyard?”

“Yes.” Meng Yunzheng nodded, his actions exceedingly gentle. “Aunt He lives in the house in the alley ahead. After I rented this courtyard, I hired her to do some work here.”

Although Meng Yunzheng had Xia Yan as an assistant, Xia Yan’s cooking skills were truly subpar.

Furthermore, he was busy, running errands to buy things and gathering news, scarcely home.

Meng Yunzheng thus hired Aunt He to help during the day with laundry and cooking, letting her return home to rest at night.

Aunt He was honest and straightforward, not speaking much, not touching what she shouldn’t. Over these months, they got along quite well.

Shu Yu nodded, then inquired about her master’s whereabouts.

“In the Zhong Family Village, thirty miles outside the city.” Meng Yunzheng finished applying medicine and stood up to call Aunt He.

Aunt He arrived quickly; Shu Yu originally wanted to ask more about her master but seeing this closed her mouth temporarily.

Forget it, applying the medicine was urgent.
