The Ace Bigshot Becomes A Farmgirl

Chapter 1376: Chapter 1376: Tan Family

Shu Yu remembered that the Tan family’s cloth shop was indeed very large.

Earlier she had heard her mother and elder sister mention that among the fabrics they currently ordered, there was a batch sourced from the Tan family.

Moreover, when they occasionally visited the prefecture to see the latest fashion trends, most of the places they went to were the Tan family’s ready-to-wear clothes shops.

The Tan family indeed had a significant influence in Dongan Province, coupled with a relative who held an official position in the capital, they were quite wealthy and powerful.

However, if one went to the Tan family for medical treatment, at worst, they would be driven out if the treatment wasn’t successful. How could it be considered causing a great disaster?

Shu Yu asked the staff, ”If the doctor went to the Pang family and couldn’t cure the ailment, what would happen?”

”I don’t know. I only know that those doctors who treated illnesses for the Tan family’s eldest son didn’t fare well afterward. A reckless old man like this, if he angered the Tan family, his ending would be even worse.”

The staff shrugged, seeming to find the situation amusing, then left Shu Yu alone as he returned to his duties upon being called by someone in the medical hall.

Shu Yu rubbed her temples and left that medical hall.

”Miss, are we going to the Tan family?”

”Yes.”

The carriage moved forward again, and the Tan family wasn’t hard to find; a little inquiry revealed it was in the east of the city.

When Shu Yu arrived at the Tan family’s gate, it was already late.

She knocked on the door and reported her name. Upon hearing it was Monarch Lu Xiang, the gatekeeper was startled for a moment before hurrying inside to notify his master.

However, Old Master Tan was completely puzzled; he didn’t recognize Monarch Lu Xiang.

He asked the other women present from the Tan family, but none of them knew her either.

This unexpected visit from Monarch Lu Xiang was indeed very strange.

But Old Master Tan knew of Shu Yu’s reputation; she was someone with connections in the capital.

Hence, he didn’t neglect her and immediately had the servants invite her in.

After entering, Shu Yu followed the servants directly to the main hall in the front courtyard, where only Old Master Tan was present.

However, Old Master Tan didn’t look as she had imagined; he was very thin and had a somewhat haggard appearance. She didn’t know what had just happened, but at the moment, Old Master Tan’s clothes seemed to have a very light footprint and some scratches.

Shu Yu’s eyelid twitched; she suspected that Old Master Tan’s condition might be related to Old Doctor Zhao.

Could a conflict have already erupted?

Thinking of this, Shu Yu didn’t beat around the bush and straightforwardly said, ”Sorry for the sudden visit, I hope I’m not disturbing you, Old Master Tan.”

”Monarch Lu Xiang, you’re too polite, please have a seat, I...”

”Old Master Tan.” Shu Yu interrupted before he could exchange pleasantries. ”I deeply apologize. I heard that our old master and my younger sister were brought here by your servants to treat your son. I wonder where they are now?”

Old Master Tan was stunned, ”Your... old master and younger sister?”

Shu Yu nodded, ”Yes, the old master is named Zhao, and my younger sister is called Ah Ning.”

Old Master Tan’s expression changed instantly, carrying a hint of anger and dissatisfaction.

Initially, he was fairly polite to Shu Yu, but now his face turned serious.

Shu Yu thought to herself: Could it be that she really came too late? But wasn’t Old Master Zhao here for treatment? How could he have provoked Old Master Tan to such anger? Did he bluntly state that Young Master Tan’s illness couldn’t be cured and that he was dying?

”Old Master Tan, did the two of them say anything inappropriate? It seems like Old Master Tan is not very pleased. My old master has a straightforward character, so there might be some misunderstanding in between. I wonder if I could meet them first?”
