The Ace Bigshot Becomes A Farmgirl

Chapter 1377: Chapter 1377: They Escaped

Old Master Tan was displeased, but considering the other party was the influential Monarch Lu Xiang, having come all this way, it seemed unlikely they would leave without meeting.

He could only suppress his anger and forced himself to say, “Alright, Monarch Lu Xiang, please follow me.”

Shu Yu secretly breathed a sigh of relief and followed Old Master Tan towards the backyard.

Just as they reached the Gate of Drooping Flowers, they suddenly saw Mrs. Tan leading a massive group of maids and house servants, striding towards them aggressively.

Old Master Tan was taken aback and hurriedly asked, “What’s happened?”

Mrs. Tan, furious, said, “That old fool and the young girl have escaped. I clearly ordered them to be locked in the room and had someone guarding outside. Somehow, they disappeared without a trace. I think…”

She was so enraged that she didn’t even notice Old Master Tan signaling her with his eyes.

By the time she realized, she had already said everything that should be said.

Shu Yu stepped out from behind Old Master Tan, squinted, and asked, “The old fool and the young girl Mrs. Tan referred to, wouldn’t they happen to be my old master and little sister?”

Mrs. Tan froze, sizing up Shu Yu.

Old Master Tan whispered, “This is Monarch Lu Xiang, the grandparents who came earlier are her family.”

Mrs. Tan’s eyes widened in shock.

Shu Yu spoke with a forced smile, “I wonder what exactly my old master said or did, because I heard you even had them locked up? One is already elderly, and the other is still young; could the Tan Family be so excessive?”

Old Master Tan and Mrs. Tan exchanged a glance. The latter finally calmed down and began to explain the sequence of events.

However, perhaps because she was still very angry, her tone inevitably carried resentment.

“Monarch Lu Xiang, I admit we did lock them up, but rest assured, they weren’t harmed. Don’t think we’re being petty with the elderly and the child; they really went too far. My son has been bedridden for two years, and we’ve been anxiously searching for renowned doctors. Therefore, when we heard that old man claim he had seen many difficult cases, we brought him in to have a look at my son.”

As Mrs. Tan talked about her son’s illness, her eyes reddened, clearly truly saddened.

“If he had examined my son and then stated his medical skill was inadequate, that would be one thing. After all, many doctors have been helpless these past two years, and we would have just let him go. But he actually claimed he could heal, saying his treatment method was extremely risky, and kept talking about fighting poison with poison, listing poisonous herbs. How is this curing? It’s plain murder.”

The Tan Family had always retained a house doctor because of Young Master Tan’s illness, and although the doctor’s medical skill wasn’t enough to cure Young Master Tan, routine care wasn’t an issue.

When he heard of this “fighting poison with poison,” he found it unreliable, and Tan Family believed Old Doctor Zhao was being reckless.

Compared to an unknown old man, they naturally had more faith in the house doctor.

The Tan Family was very angry; dealing with matters of life and death, this old man was still grandstanding and playing them for fools.

Yet, if that were all, it wouldn’t be too bad. What enraged them further was the old man’s claim that Young Master Tan was deeply poisoned, warning if urgent treatment wasn’t administered, he likely wouldn’t live another three months.

This statement was like stabbing the Tan Family straight in the heart.

Old Master Tan immediately ordered them to be locked up, just as he was contemplating how to handle them, Shu Yu arrived.
