The Ace Bigshot Becomes A Farmgirl

Chapter 1385: Chapter 1385: Lu Sixing Buys a Cart

After sending out the letter, Shu Yu exhaled a breath and continued to busy herself.

The instant noodles business hadn’t fully expanded yet, as the escorts who conducted the previous trade hadn’t returned, so there were still some stocks left.

Just in time for the sunflower harvest, the workshop was bustling again with roasting melon seeds and extracting sunflower oil.

Shu Yu spent most of her time busy in the workshop, returning to the county town every three or four days.

Unexpectedly, upon returning once more, she discovered that Fourth Aunt had bought a mule carriage.

After making some money from the last stall, Lu Sixing had been thinking about saving a little more, hoping to eventually buy a small yard in the county town for the family to live in.

However, although her family had saved some money, it still wasn’t enough to buy a house.

At this moment, Yuan Shanchuan got promoted and was transferred to work in North City.

This transfer made the distance from home a bit far.

Lu Sixing considered whether to move, as the house they lived in was rented anyway.

However, Yuan Shanchuan rejected the idea, as their family was already familiar with that area, and the children had playmates. Lu Sixing was very accustomed to the surroundings, and her third brother and sister-in-law were nearby. Moving to an unfamiliar place would require readjustment.

Yuan Shanchuan felt it was unnecessary, especially since the place he was transferred to was too remote and not suitable for Lu Sixing and the children.

At worst, he would endure some hardship, get up earlier, and come home later, but they wouldn’t move.

But considering his wife and children, they felt for him, and finally decided to buy a mule carriage, so he could commute daily.

Originally, they thought about buying a donkey, as it was cheaper and convenient. Later, they thought a mule carriage would be better, as the whole family could ride, and they could go on outings when Yuan Shanchuan had time off.

So, the matter was settled.

Madam Liang was envious, and Lu Sanzhu was even more eager.

Now, whether it’s the Eldest Brother, Second Brother, or Fourth Sister’s family, they all have a vehicle, but their family doesn’t. They still rely on their two legs for travel. They didn’t feel it before, but now it suddenly feels so tiring...

But their family is broke, and the bit they’ve managed to save up was used to repay debts to Shu Yu.

Had they known, they would’ve bought a smaller house; maybe by now, with the debts cleared, they could’ve saved enough to buy a vehicle.

The couple lamented tearfully.

Madam Li didn’t care much, thinking about mule carriages as something common. Their family’s mule carriage was given by their son, while the little sister-in-law had to toil to buy one herself, which made her somewhat proud.

However, there was some jealousy regarding Yuan Shanchuan’s promotion; she felt it was entirely due to Shu Yu’s influence.

After Shu Yu heard it, she didn’t pay much attention, as Yuan Shanchuan’s promotion was decided by the current county magistrate.

The new county magistrate just arrived in Jiangyuan County and, unlike Xiang Weinan, wasn’t inherently powerful with a full staff. He was lacking manpower, so he promoted capable people.

Yuan Shanchuan was diligent and resilient, and before Xiang Weinan left, he had mentioned to the new county magistrate that Yuan Shanchuan had rendered meritorious service when searching for evidence of the Shu family’s crimes.

The new county magistrate understood and seized the opportunity to promote him.

Shu Yu didn’t think the new county magistrate promoted him due to her influence.

She became increasingly busy, taking time in between to visit Dongqing Temple and the prefecture.

The Xiao Family was recuperating well, and the person had gradually regained their former vigor and spirit.

She also visited the Tan Family. After Young Master Tan could eat, he was able to get out of bed and walk, no longer lying down all day as before.

For this, Old Master Tan and his wife were extremely grateful to Old Doctor Zhao.
