The Ace Bigshot Becomes A Farmgirl

Chapter 1370: Chapter 1370: Heading to the Prefecture

Although the taste improved for Xiao Family, she still didn’t eat much. After finishing her meal, she wiped her mouth and sighed.

”Before falling victim to poison, during my time in the Xiao Family, I couldn’t eat much, it was almost forced down. Over the months, not only did my body become weak, but my stomach also wasn’t in good condition, aching occasionally.”

She gave a bitter smile, ”I don’t know if it can be nurtured back to health, but upon thinking, at least my life was spared. That period was immensely perilous, and even now thinking about it still leaves me with lingering fears.”

Shu Yu comforted her, ”You don’t need to worry too much, now is the perfect chance to stay away from the troubles of the capital and focus on recuperating here. Old Doctor Zhao is here, he’s best at making medicinal food dishes, let him jot down a few recipes for you to follow and eat on time. If you’re short on money or need supplements, just ask Lord Xiang, he has the means.”

Xiao Family was amused by her words, ”In this regard, my husband never hesitates. When I came over, the carriage was packed with a good amount of supplements and medicinal materials. Originally, my husband advised me to travel slowly, eat well, and rest well on the journey. But it was I who was too anxious, unsettled during the journey.”

Shu Yu understood, she was scared these few months. Who would have thought that what she once considered her greatest support and warmest harbor turned out to be a symbol urging her towards death, without even a chance to defend?

”Strangely, upon seeing you, my heart suddenly calms down. Shu Yu, isn’t that quite magical?”

Shu Yu thought, ”...Magical my foot, why didn’t I know I was like a calming incense drug?”

After chatting with Xiao Family for a while, Shu Yu took her leave.

As she reached the door, she couldn’t help but glance towards the maid and guard standing outside.

Perhaps she lingered her gaze a bit longer, Xiao Family noticed and could somewhat guess Shu Yu’s thoughts, ”Are you wondering about the whereabouts of Nanny Gu and the others?”

Shu Yu opened her mouth. Indeed, she wanted to ask, but feared they might have encountered misfortune. Mentioning it again might bring up sorrowful memories for Xiao Family, so she held back her words.

Fortunately, Xiao Family smiled, ”They are fine.”

Nanny Gu and Hewen had been with Xiao Family for a long time, both sharing a deep affection for her.

Initially, the Xiao Family only controlled Xiao Family, not yet to the extent of forcing her completely against them.

They feared killing these two would cause Xiao Family, who cared for them deeply, to act recklessly and lose control. After all, Xiao Family’s temperament was indeed quite fierce in the past, even going against a princess for a maid during Princess Consort Xiao’s favor.

Furthermore, it was only Xiao Family who saw the Second Prince; Nanny Gu and Hewen were not by Xiao Family’s side initially, later they hadn’t been in contact before being directly taken away.

Currently, these two are tasked with laboring at the Manor. Of course, the work is surely more exhausting and difficult, and there are people monitoring them.

But their lives are spared, there will always be a time for reunification in the future.

Shu Yu nodded upon hearing this, ”That’s good.”

She advised Xiao Family to rest, then she headed to the front courtyard. Following that, she went over to the workshop, took note of today’s sunflower harvest situation and yield.

As she was set to travel to the prefecture tomorrow and wouldn’t be present here, Shu Yu instructed on some matters in advance.

When she emerged from the workshop, it was almost dark.

Having been busy the entire day, Shu Yu had a restful sleep, and early the next morning, together with the already packed Xiao Family, they headed straight to the prefecture.
