The Ace Bigshot Becomes A Farmgirl

Chapter 1387: Chapter 1387: Weak in the Hands and Legs

As they passed by the workshop, Shu Yu stopped by to give a few instructions.

This was really the busiest time for the workshop, and she had no choice but to leave, otherwise she certainly wouldn’t have been able to.

However, the workshop has already been operating for almost a year now; both the steward and the staff are familiar with the process, and everything is running smoothly. As long as they go about their tasks in an orderly manner, she doesn’t need to worry too much.

The only thing that requires attention is the restocking needed by the Passion Fruit Shop in the capital, as well as the palace. This matter needs extra caution, so she asked Daniu and a few stewards to work hard. She promised bonuses once this busy period is over.

Daniu assured her to rest easy; he has matured considerably and these matters aren’t an issue.

After giving her instructions, Shu Yu, with Ying Xi, rode on horseback, racing towards Changjin Prefecture.

Changjin Prefecture is closer to the capital, and with a favorable geographical location, it is more prosperous and affluent compared to Dongan Province.

Recently, the college exams just concluded, and the results aren’t out yet, bringing even more people to the prefecture.

Shu Yu and Ying Xi traveled day and night, taking a full nine days to finally reach the gates of Changjin Prefecture.

Seeing the long queue ahead for entering the city, Shu Yu slumped over her horse to rest.

She was indeed exhausted; in those nine days, aside from sleeping at night, they were almost constantly on the move during the day.

Her arms and legs were weak, and she didn’t want to move at all.

”Miss, we’re entering the city.”

Shu Yu gathered her spirits and followed the crowd into the gates of Changjin Prefecture.

It was already getting late; she proceeded to find the address given by Meng Yunzheng.

Her fiancé had thoughtfully sent this address along with a detailed hand-drawn map when he mailed the letter over.

Meng Yunzheng’s drawing skills were impressive; even the surrounding shops and which alley to turn at were crystal clear.

Thus, Shu Yu found it effortlessly and, after a few turns, stopped before a quiet little courtyard.

This yard was rented by Meng Yunzheng. He went back to his original residence for the exams, which was actually in Chenggu County, under Changjin Prefecture.

The old home of the Meng family is in Chenggu County.

However, Meng Yunzheng wasn’t familiar with the family. After staying at the Meng home for a short time and finishing his county-level exams in Chenggu County, he directly came to the prefecture.

Since both the prefectural and college exams would be held here, he told Uncle Meng he was coming early to study and rented a place in advance to avoid a last-minute rush.

With that, he moved out of the Meng home and never returned. After completing the prefecture exam, he sent a letter to Uncle Meng informing him that he had passed and needed to continue preparing for the college exams.

Uncle Meng didn’t stop him; after all, the exams were important. He had seen many nervous candidates preparing, and didn’t want to add to Meng Yunzheng’s stress and pressure. So naturally, he let him do as he pleased, whatever was comfortable.

Shu Yu looked at the closed courtyard gate, wondering if anyone was home at the moment.

She exhaled a breath and dismounted from her horse.

But her legs weren’t cooperating, and as soon as she exerted force, they started to tremble.

Thus, halfway to the ground, she suddenly fell straight down.

Behind her, Ying Xi cried out, ”Miss, watch out.”

She intended to help, but her own condition wasn’t much better, and she was also on horseback, so she couldn’t make it in time.

Just as Shu Yu was about to fall to the ground and land on her backside, she felt a blur before her eyes, a gust of wind swept by, her waist tightened, and a familiar scent reached her nose as she was held securely.
