The Ace Bigshot Becomes A Farmgirl

Chapter 1393: Chapter 1393: The Zhong Family’s Strange Incident

Shu Yu was taken aback and instinctively lowered her voice, ”You’re really blatantly delaying this, aren’t you? How did she fall for it?”

Meng Yunzheng held his forehead, ”Fall for what? Do you think I tricked the temple master? Do I have that ability?”

Shu Yu thought of her master’s abilities, well, saying it was a trick was definitely inappropriate.

”So what happened at Zhong Family Village that made her stay for so many days?”

Meng Yunzheng said, ”Two days before the academy exam started, I was discussing academics with several examinees, and one of them happened to mention a strange event at Zhong Family Village, so I overheard it.”

”What strange event?” Shu Yu became interested.

Meng Yunzheng was afraid she might move too much and pull on her wound, so he reached out to hold her, moving closer to her. ”They said the village chief of Zhong Family Village, his only son is very strange. Every half month, he seems to get possessed, waking up in the middle of the night to grab and eat live chickens raw, with his face covered in blood, looking very creepy. But the next day, he has no recollection of what happened, and his family asks him but he remains bewildered.”

Shu Yu’s eyes widened slightly, strange tales?

”Is my master there to exorcise the evil?”

Meng Yunzheng laughed, ”What are you thinking?”

”My first thought was that he has a midnight sleepwalking disorder.”

Meng Yunzheng, ”Then why does it happen at fixed times, every half month? This pattern is too consistent.”

Shu Yu pressed her lips, pondered for a moment, ”Could it be someone is behind this?”

Meng Yunzheng saw her serious expression and couldn’t help but laugh. See, she simply doesn’t believe in possession.

Even though she is the disciple of the Dongqing Temple master, and has witnessed the master’s abilities.

In fact, he also doesn’t believe it, but well, the unknown things in this world are always mysterious, no one can say for sure.

He once went to the Dongqing Temple master seeking who was the destined emperor.

Meng Yunzheng laughed and said, ”I also don’t know what’s really going on. When I learned about this, there was only one day before the academy exam, so I heard and let it go. Who knew that after the exam, I met the temple master, and she was about to head to the capital after staying two days. To stall her, I told her about the Zhong Family Village incident.”

That night, the temple master headed to Zhong Family Village.

And the next day was exactly the half-month period, the time when the Zhong Family’s son would wake up and eat live chickens.

However, due to the short time, the temple master wasn’t sufficiently prepared, and since the Zhong Family was unaware of her origins and didn’t trust her, they refused her entry.

Furthermore, the Zhong Family had invited a monk to their home for chanting and prayers, but the entire Zhong Family was in chaos. Later, it was discovered that the monk was a fraud. Not only did he fail the ritual, but he was also terrified by the scene of the son eating live chickens with his face covered in blood, and he ran away.

It not only enraged the Zhong Family into cursing but also prevented the temple master from uncovering the truth immediately.

Thus, the temple master had to wait for the next time the Zhong Family’s son ’gets sick’.

Meng Yunzheng managed to delay her by half a month, allowing Shu Yu to arrive in Changjin Prefecture on time.

”Last night was the half-month period. If nothing unexpected happened, with the temple master’s abilities, she has most likely discovered the truth.”

So their visit to Zhong Family Village today was perfectly timed. Otherwise, if the temple master solved the problem, she might not meet with Meng Yunzheng again and head directly to the capital.

In that case, they would have missed each other.

That’s also why Meng Yunzheng rushed over with Shu Yu early in the morning without even checking the academy exam results.
