My Alleged Husband

Chapter 2047: Chapter 1840: An Unchanging Heart

Sometimes it’s really difficult to do something, but no one will give up.

In fact, Zhang Zhentian understands very well in his heart that if he loses this opportunity, he might completely lose the woman he loves the most, but he can’t face everything, and he has no reason to make amends.

Ultimately, all of this boils down to his own mistakes. In the end, he harmed the woman he loves the most and personally abandoned her.

He knows clearly in his heart that some mistakes, once made, cannot be compensated, and once some mistakes are a done deal, no one will let them continue. He knows this well, so he feels more pain inside. Clearly, his mistake may not necessarily be the main reason, but he has to bear all the mistakes. Because if he wants his wife to see him differently, he must show the responsibility of a man.

”Since we’ve already come to this point, let’s not say anything else now. Let’s calmly say our final goodbye!”

Actually, you are still a good man. You just went astray. Everything you did forced me to reflect on whether being with you is right or wrong. You never considered what attitude you should hold in our shared life. Instead, you thought of using your power and desires to control me without considering what I want or what you could give me!”

I hope you can remember that love is mutual. It’s not about one person giving selflessly while another waits eternally for others’ contributions. That kind of love is not love; it’s merely a relationship between a creditor and debtor. I hope someday you can understand my earnest intentions.

Honestly, during the years we’ve been together, I’ve often felt deep pain inside. You never understood what I wanted, and what you gave me was always pressure and hurt. I always comforted myself, thinking eventually you’d realize and treat me well, giving me everything I desired. If so, I would stay by your side forever, regardless of all grievances. But now I finally understand that the day of your awakening came too late, and I lack the patience to wait for that day. I am impulsive; I can’t quietly wait for someone else’s realization repeatedly like others do for family. I simply want to quickly achieve my ideals and desires. Maybe because of this situation, you’ll feel great pain inside. Whether you hate me or not, I don’t care. After all, it’s my fault; I hurt you and damaged the most genuine feelings between us. I can’t reclaim this relationship, and I hope you don’t use any means to stop me from leaving. Now things are so clear. Let me leave and explore the horizon alone. Don’t use your so-called love to bind me to your side...”

”Since you’ve decided to leave, nothing I say will make you stay. In that case, why should I persistently beg you, ultimately letting you trample my dignity again? I want to be a happy person, a straightforward man with responsibility and commitment. Perhaps, in your eyes, I’ll never achieve this, but I hope you believe in me. Heaven will not fail a person with genuine intent. As long as I aspire to be a responsible man, I will achieve my ideals, proving myself capable enough that you will regard me highly, without any reason to consider abandoning me.”

Don’t worry; this situation isn’t solely your fault. Why would I choose to hate you? You are forever my beloved woman in my heart. I will only reminisce about you and bury you deep inside me, softly recalling each path we walked and the days of hardship we shared. Those days will never return. You’ve decided to leave me; no matter what I say, you won’t come back to me. Therefore, I hope to preserve my last bit of dignity. How can a man truly love his most beloved woman if he doesn’t even have this remnant of pride?”

Perhaps what I did made you look down on me, but I hope you understand that all the past actions were because I genuinely loved you, resulting in those actions that hurt you. Now, I finally realize, no matter how deeply I loved you before, I still hurt you. This hurt won’t be fully eradicated by any apologetic words I offer. The pain will remain buried in your heart. Has your heart also felt fear because of the hurt I caused?”

I hope we can make a three-year promise to each other. If three years later, you see me completely transformed from before, if you feel I’ve become a responsible, courageous man, then I hope you can give me another chance, returning to my side, letting us co-create our world together for a lifetime, knowing and cherishing one another, accompanying each other.”

”If at that time you truly have changed completely from before, I’m willing to give you another chance, also giving myself a chance, to resume those joyful times, not doubting each other over anything, but sincerely trusting each other, believing that every action is for our best interests.”

Zhang Zhentian knows this is the greatest compromise Xia Jing can make.

Thus, what right does he have to continue imposing, asking others to rectify errors made because of him and give him another chance? Hence, all he can do is agree on this three-year promise and thoroughly change himself within three years so that the woman he loves will willingly return to his side, not because of any forceful exertion but to accompany him for a lifetime.

”Since you’ve agreed, let us both firmly remember this three-year promise, not allowing anything to destroy it. It’s a commitment between us...”

”Grandpa, I’ve waited for her for six years, why hasn’t she come back? Do I still even exist in her heart?”
