My Alleged Husband

Chapter 2003: Chapter 1797: Waiting

Some waits are genuine, while others are just to silence gossiping tongues!

Zhang Zhentian never expected his father would so easily fulfill his own desires. Who really knew how he had lived all these years? No one truly understood what kind of life he wanted. Perhaps this current life was, in his view, the most perfect one.

He thought he’d never have the chance to enjoy such a happy life again in his lifetime. Who would have thought he could still have such perfect days at this stage?

”Dad, deep down, I truly understand that sometimes the things I say indeed hurt you too much. I also know that some things are not as simple as I make them out to be. You can’t just forget the harm I’ve caused you all. Even I can’t fully grasp how deep that hurt was. How could you possibly just let go of everything so easily?

We each have different journeys and face different storms. No one knows what we’ve truly been through, nor the magnitude of the mistakes we made. The life I wanted was just a stable one. I’ve never once thought about repeatedly hurting others, as harming others brings no benefit to myself.

Just like me, living selfishly and repeatedly, but what outcome did I eventually achieve? I faced mockery and didn’t even know how to return to my own home. I have a home, but I can’t return to it!

My father, when did you ever consider how I’ve truly lived these years from my perspective? You all know better than anyone how I’ve weathered these storms over the years.

If each of you could experience a single night of sleeplessness and live each day with such difficulty, do you know how exhausting it is? I’ve never complained to anyone about how hard my life is because I understand that complaining serves no purpose.”

”Dad, stop saying these things. Please share what life has been like for you and Mom living outside all these years. What have you been through, and how did you live each day? I want to know how you’ve truly been living!

Even though we haven’t been together in recent years, I still want to understand your lives and know about your experiences over these years. I want to know how you’ve managed all these years!”

Zhang Yichen feared that her father and grandfather would start arguing again, so she quickly spoke up. She thought that perhaps distracting them by focusing everyone’s attention on herself was the best way to prevent further arguments. Otherwise, if they continued quarreling after returning home together, would they be coming back just to add to the household conflicts?

Zhang Zhentian didn’t expect his son would desire to understand his life as a father. The way he treated his son should be clear to him, and because of this, he couldn’t comprehend why his son suddenly wanted to understand his lifestyle.

”Yichen, do you truly wish to understand the life your dad has led all these years? Do you know how hard my father has struggled these years? When I hear you say this, I can actually understand you from deep down.

Father doesn’t know what kind of mindset you had when you said such words. Are you afraid dad and grandpa will argue again, or is it just to mock how hard life has been for me after leaving home, using this chance to hurt your dad and make me realize how inconvenient leaving was back then?”

”Dad, you’re mistaken. I never thought of those things. What I want from life is not much but just enough. I just want to live happily. I just hope everyone can live happily. Everyone’s path is really different.

You and Mom finally made it back home; I don’t want you to argue with Grandpa as soon as you get back. Grandpa’s health can’t withstand another series of intense arguments; his body will break down.

Deep down, you know better than anyone that as a father, you haven’t fulfilled your responsibilities because you’ve never been there for me or taken care of my daily life. Every day, you’ve been wandering outside, leaving me with my aging father.

Similarly, as a son, how have you treated your father? You repeatedly left your father here, allowing him to hide alone in the corner, silently crying. Where were you? You were out enjoying life, and what about your father, your son? They were here in such pain, struggling step by step to where they are today. Doesn’t your conscience have any awareness of this?

As a grandfather, you abandoned your grandson, knowing full well he is your grandson yet not daring to acknowledge him. You silently sacrificed everything behind the scenes, yet you refused to come back home. You prioritized your dignity and pride, choosing, time and time again, to stubbornly refuse to return and say something nice, seek a way to stay. Is this apology really so hard? Wouldn’t it have been easier to come back home if you apologized sooner?

The things I say to you now, I only hope for you to realize what you should do. If you continue as before, repeating those actions, do you think living together will still have any meaning? What kind of harm will everyone face?

To be honest, deep down, you’ve long wanted to share your experiences with everyone, but you never had the right opportunity to speak up. I’ve given you this chance to open up, and yet you still don’t appreciate it? Ultimately, the reason I’m saying these things is that I want to hear your stories. It’s only to fulfill something within yourself. I don’t want your heart to remain in internal conflict, repeatedly unsure of what it truly desires!

When others offer you a ladder, can’t you at least consider using it to step down?”

Ah! Zhang Shengping didn’t know how to express it. His son’s intelligence was incredibly impressive. If only he had such intelligence, things might not have come to this. Everything wouldn’t be so embarrassing. If his emotional and intellectual strengths were equal, would he be a hundred times stronger than his son? But why did fate only give him emotional intelligence and forget to give him intellectual intelligence?

Not every wait brings a good result!
