My Alleged Husband

Chapter 2025: Chapter 1818: The Pitter-Patter of Rain

The sound of rain, drip drip drip, at this moment Old Master Zhang realized he truly had no way to communicate this matter with his daughter-in-law. Perhaps this outcome would ultimately be seen as a difficult decision; no parent can truly ignore their child.

”I know that speaking too much now might not make you feel this is the best outcome, but please think from the perspective of your child. If he is willing to be trampled by others, if he is willing to be crushed underfoot years later, without any power to fight back, if he willingly accepts being a Lower-class Person rather than an Upper-class Person his whole life, then you have the right to decide his life. But if he does not choose this path, then as parents you cannot take away his freedom of choice, nor let your child resent you years later. The only thing you can do is let your child feel grateful to you, knowing that their parents are their most solid support, no matter what decision they make, their parents will always support them from behind!”

”Grandpa, I understand, you can be assured. But I want to make a promise with you: if my child chooses a different life path, then none of us should impose the responsibilities of the Zhang Family on her shoulders, let her do what she desires freely. I don’t want my child, from the moment of birth, to grow up under family pressure, which can suffocate a person. I hope my child grows without enduring all the pain, I really cannot bear it!

But if my child ultimately chooses to walk this path, then I will wholeheartedly support her. I will let her know that even if the whole world abandons her, I as her mother will never abandon her, I will always be by her side, silently contributing, forever cheering her on. I will let her know, there will be a day when she can certainly become an Upper-class Person, and all outcomes of these efforts come from her own hard work!”

Old Master Zhang did not expect his granddaughter-in-law would suddenly speak such words, he was a bit unresponsive. If this promise had been made earlier, things wouldn’t be so tricky, nor so complicated. Everyone’s chosen life path is truly different; maybe this path will be your life’s glorious avenue, or perhaps it will be your abyss of pain. No one can control their own life, nor unconditionally change everything to be like what they imagined. The only thing that can change is that the efforts you put in will eventually be rewarded, otherwise regardless of how much you put in, you still end up with nothing.

”Since you’ve said so much, then I must make this promise with you too. I hope you remember what you said today. I believe your child will definitely choose to continue down this path, regardless of how many thorns lie ahead, regardless of how many difficulties, regardless of what may happen, I believe he will stick with this decision.

Because no descendant of the Zhang Family is a loafer, because every single member of the Zhang Family is valiant and proud, willing to give up everything for their ideal. Every one of us has unchangeable pride and can abandon everything for one’s own dignity, and I believe he will be no exception, because he is our true Zhang Family descendant!

No matter what our child does, we should not use it as a gamble, but today we have to do so. Maybe this will make our child feel like we’re using him for our interests exchange, but today’s decision might also make our child grateful to us, or makes him feel like we always viewed him as a tool, never caring about his true feelings. Whether the outcome is good or bad, it can’t change the impression our child has of us!”

”Grandpa, I didn’t do this to change my son’s impression of me as his mother. What I want is for him to have a chance to choose his own life. I just hope he doesn’t regret his choice. If this is the life he truly desires, then how could I as his mom interfere with his life to ruin his happiness? I only want him to know that the choice he made, no matter what the future outcome is, must be walked step by step until the end, even if it’s a bloody path, there can be no retreat, no giving up halfway!

Perhaps each person has a different way of educating their children, but I truly didn’t expect that one day our way of educating would diverge. We hold the same mindset for our children, yet no one thought we would have to use such means to decide which path our children should take, which path would be the best result for him!”

Old Master Zhang’s heart couldn’t predict his granddaughter-in-law would make such a promise today. Regardless of who it’s for, such a promise isn’t necessarily a good thing, nor a bad thing. No one can decide what will happen in the future, no one can foresee unknown dangers and difficulties in advance, can only take one step at a time. But none of them would know, when Zhang Ni found out about the bet between his grandfather and mother, he still unwaveringly chose to continue down the path he’s on right now. He never regretted choosing this path, on the contrary, he felt choosing this path was the correct choice. He wants to have a life of his own, a life that will not be abandoned because of interference from anyone, nor change due to decisions from anyone.

Who would know that his future life path would be more glorious, more thrilling than his biological father’s, nor does anyone know how lively his future family will be. He doesn’t know how many brothers and sisters he will have, nor what kind of road he’ll ultimately face, but he continues steadfastly walking the path he chose!

Even if the future path is too arduous, he still chooses to walk it until the end...

The journey of life seems like a constant gamble, win it, and you have a happy life!
