My Alleged Husband

Chapter 2017: Chapter 1810: Journey

This life journey is long, and it’s so unsmooth, living through one’s life with countless obstacles!

Li Jiayuan listened to Xia Jing’s words. Although he knew that initially Old Master Zhang did not agree with Xia Jing and Zhang Zhentian being together, he was unaware that these two would have feelings for each other.

Later, he inadvertently learned that the man he used to secretly love had always been deeply in love with this woman. He didn’t know what kind of impact this had on his heart. He didn’t know what attitude he should use to face these people from the past, but now he understands. As long as they can be happy together, he is also living a happy and peaceful life now, so why care about so much from the past?

Xia Jing knows Li Jiayuan is very conflicted inside, but there are some things he doesn’t know how to start talking about because she knows the two of them were once rivals in love and eventually came this far; how should she tell him?

Both of them felt awkward, not knowing how to begin speaking the first words to each other. Ultimately, it was Xia Jing who set aside her pride. She feels there’s nothing left to hold onto now; she’s lost too much.

Does she still have to lose the courage to face everything now? If one loses even the courage to face things, what’s the meaning of living in this world? Again and again, treating everything as a kind of torture deep within, she never thought about how many times she neglected others. Each time she just acted based on her thoughts, without considering whether her actions would severely hurt others.

”Jiayuan, sister really appreciates you coming all the way here to see me. You’ve traveled a long distance, and it’s not easy. Why not stay in the country for a while and enjoy yourself? When I have time, I’ll take you out. It’s been a long time since we went out together, and I’m sure we’ll have a lot of fun together. Let’s not recall too much from the past; living the life we should now is enough, isn’t it?

We used to be rivals for a man, fighting fiercely till the end, until you discovered that the one you truly loved wasn’t him. You chose to love another person, and you loved rightly. I believe my brother sincerely cares for you!

I can tell, over these years living together with him, you are happy, content, and fulfilled. For me, that’s enough. Thank you for giving my brother the opportunity to be with you for a lifetime. My brother is a bit naïve; people often think he’s foolish. Actually, he’s just too honest, being bullied outside once and again. Sometimes he chooses to say nothing and swallow the pain alone. But you’re his wife, I believe you can see he sometimes holds things inside, right?

Since you’ve come this far together, continue to live happily. No matter what relationship we had or what kind of endings we faced, the experiences we’ve had, we should remain good friends and best sisters, and not let others think we’ve lost our sisterhood because of some minor unpleasant incident!”

Li Jiayuan understands deep down that for someone like Xia Jing, who exudes pride from within her bones, to bow her head and say these words is not easy. He should be content, as he’s already regarded her as his best sister. Their relationship is no longer that bad. If he keeps up the pretense and remains aloof, refusing to let go, their relationship could face dire consequences, making his husband caught in the middle.

Since he’s chosen to be with his husband for a lifetime, he should not let such things happen to him, nor let his husband be caught in between. If he truly loves him, what’s the point in making things difficult for him?

”Sister, I know deep down you’ve treated me as your best sister. I also know you genuinely care for me, that’s why you express these heartfelt words. But I know these years haven’t been easy for you. We’ve all chosen to keep silent about certain things just to leave space for each other. Now, having become best sisters, we should have no secrets between us. I know deep down you’re feeling hurt, but you should be strong!

Truth be told, when you first approached me, I initially wanted to be aloof and not converse with you. But then I thought about it, you are someone with pride that exudes from your bones.

The pride you carry is innate, and there’s no way to change it.

But just now, when you lowered yourself to say those words to me, I knew you were no longer the person you once were. You’ve learned to change; you’ve understood when to say what. Every step you’re taking isn’t just for yourself, it’s for everyone.

Even if the whole world doesn’t understand you, we do. Even if no one comprehends you, our understanding is enough. Time after time, you give so much, and yet, does it just amount to this little? All you want is for your family to be safe and happy. But you’ve never realized that each time things end in complex ways. After committing mistakes, although nobody dares criticize you, inside you’re filled with guilt and remorse because you can’t figure out why these things happen to you. Hoping everything will pass peacefully, hoping such events won’t occur, but you have no control over what fate may bring.

Sister, I truly believe you’re doing the right thing in every despite outcome. Believe that you have your own opinions; everything you do isn’t without reason. What you desire, you’re pursuing step by step, putting in more effort than anyone. Yet you never realized what kind of outcomes you may face. All you want is a joyful life.

Sister, everyone’s seen the efforts you make. Regardless of the outcome or consequences you may face, as long as you have no regrets, it’s fine. Through these tireless efforts, you protect yourself without limits; you’re only fearful of being hurt because you fear harm more than anyone else...”

Xia Jing never expected to have the chance to find a confidante in this world. Perhaps it truly is this way; no one has ever considered why you put yourself through so much. No one has understood why you’re often like a hedgehog, but who can know what kind of ending and consequences you will face in life? Everyone often lives selfishly, forgetting what they truly wanted.

”Jiayuan, thank you so much for talking with me today. I’m truly happy, deep down, very happy!

Never have I thought I could find such a confidante again. You are now my only confidante, you give me a feeling unlike anyone else. Having you as a confidante accompanying me here brings me immense joy, doesn’t it? Each person has their own path to tread. I will be strong; each and every one of you can rest assured. I am not a timid woman, I rely on my own efforts. Being able to reach this point proves that my inner world is stronger than any woman’s. I have a strong willpower; my heart is like an unbreakable cockroach. I can be knocked down repeatedly, yet rise again resiliently. I will let everyone know, no matter the circumstances, regardless of the challenges, nothing can destroy me...”

Walking tirelessly on one’s journey, who can know the joy inside one’s heart?
