My Alleged Husband

Chapter 1498: Chapter 1292: Withering

It’s not like a broken string can sound the same if played again; the happiness we once shared is now gone. Perhaps there’s no way for me to keep you by my side.

Zhang Yichen was really fed up with his parents, arguing all day long, every single day!

Don’t they get tired of arguing back and forth every day?

Sometimes he really couldn’t understand what his parents were thinking deep inside. With one argument after another, what kind of harm were they bringing upon themselves? Didn’t they realize it? They were already at such an age, why did they discuss things so recklessly?

The most frequently heard thing at home was the sound of their arguments. He really didn’t understand the point of their constant fighting. Another argument would only make everyone in the family feel that it’s not harmonious at all. No one would want to see a family out of harmony.

”Can’t you two stop arguing? Every day I come home from work exhausted, and all I hear is the sound of my parents fighting. Do you think that makes me feel good inside? How am I supposed to focus on work? Why do you always consider only your own thoughts, without caring if your actions hurt others? You really disturb my life—do you understand that?

You say staying at home is to make up for me—is it really making up for me? It’s just causing me more trouble, over and over again. Why do you keep coming home, just to disrupt me and interfere with my every decision?”

Zhang Zhentian heard these words from his son, and sometimes couldn’t help but ask himself why he kept making these decisions again and again. Was it to make the family happier, or to keep hurting them?

He clearly wanted to do something good, just wanted to stay with his family, but why did everything he did seem so meaningless to them?

Xia Jing was just as confused about why her actions were never understood by her husband. Why did her son say such harsh and heartless things to her over and over? She was his biological mother! How much did her son hate her to say such serious things repeatedly?

Did they really think so little of her as a parent, that she was worthless?

The more Xia Jing thought about it, the sadder she became. She didn’t want these things to happen to her, but there was no way around it. She always wanted her family to live happily, yet constant arguments still brought her some comfort, though some fights were unavoidable. Some arguments made everyone’s relationship tense and delicate.

Perhaps in the family’s eyes, every decision she made was wrong. But who knows that all her decisions were for the good of the family? Even if she spoke openly about everything, it was only to ensure honesty and avoid secrets. But why did her honesty lead to such treatment?

”Yichen, if you think we’re disturbing your life by coming home and making it less peaceful, I hope you can understand. We don’t want to argue, but some arguments are unavoidable. I want everyone to live happily, but there are things I truly can’t predict!

We don’t know how tired your work makes you every day. Although we know what you’ve sacrificed over the years and what you’ve lost, we’ve never truly understood what your work is like. You’re supporting an entire family and managing a company with thousands of employees, even 30,000 workers under your lead. I know it’s exhausting. A single mistake could ruin the whole project!

We, as parents, understand the risks involved. We just choose not to say anything. Maybe that’s the best help we can give you. If we interfere with your decisions, you’ll only grow more resentful of us!”

”I think there’s no need for so much talk. I just want to ask you both, don’t you find it exhausting? Why do you have to fight every time? Why do I hear nothing but your arguments when I come home? If you were exhausted from work all day, and came home only to hear your family fighting, how would you feel? Wouldn’t you feel tired?

Yes, I’m physically and mentally exhausted when I come home, expecting a warm meal and some care from my parents. But what do you give me? Endless arguments. What do you think fighting like this does to me? You only care about your own interests and forget that your family also needs heartfelt care.”

”Okay, okay, whatever you say. Don’t worry, from now on, your parents will never argue again. You can focus on your job in peace, and we won’t disturb you!”

Xia Jing also knew that her son was right. A family constantly arguing would only make everyone feel it wasn’t a harmonious family. Why keep building up conflicts? Compared to other families, how happy and blissful their lives seemed, with everyone living in harmony. Why was it so hard for her family to live a happy life?

He decided that for his child’s sake, if for nothing else, there should be no more arguments. Otherwise, everyone would find her, as a mother, incompetent, and see her as bringing nothing but endless trouble and distress to the family.

Perhaps her child really found her annoying, with all the constant arguing. How could he not be annoyed when he was already so tired from work?

”Xia Jing, don’t take what Yichen said to heart. He was just too angry at the moment, that’s why he acted that way. He’s your son; you should understand him. Don’t dwell on his words. Treat me as you did before. Don’t restrain yourself because of our son...”

Watching your change is like a gentle leisure. Even with the utmost thrift, it’s still not right. I can see your change, but we say nothing to each other.
