My Alleged Husband

Chapter 1455: Chapter 1249: Finally Understanding the Meaning

In the past, I didn’t know what family truly meant, but now I’m gradually understanding. I once hurt many of my loving family members with my actions, and now I sincerely apologize to them.

I hope they can forgive my mistakes. The errors of the past were not things I ever wanted to happen, but I still made them.

Zhang Zhentian really has no way to accept his father saying such things to him. After all, no matter what, he is still his son. How deep must the hatred between his father and him be for his father to say such heartless, cold words to his own son? As a son who is also a father, how could he possibly bear to hurt his own child?

Why do they never see the good in their family members and always only see the pain and hurt brought on by mistake after mistake? Why must everyone place all the pain, all the blame, entirely on me? Was I born in this lifetime just to take the fall for them?

”Dad, no matter what, I’m your biological son. You have no right to say such things to me. You know I’m not a cold-hearted person, so how could I possibly ignore my own son? Your actions are so heartbreaking and upsetting to me. I never imagined our relationship as father and son would become like this one day. Do you think this life is what we wanted?

You always think everything I do is wrong, but have you considered why I made so many mistakes? Am I really destined to be thrown out of the house by you over and over again?

I really don’t understand what reason makes you so heartless towards me or what has led to such distrust. Is it because of the mistakes I’ve made that nothing I do now can earn even a shred of trust from you?

I hope that no matter what happens, we, as father and son, will always be the most trusting of each other. Only by mutually trusting each other can we go further together.

Look at us now - the family isn’t a family anymore. Repeated arguments and disputes have led us to this outcome. Do you think this is the outcome we wanted?”

Old Master Zhang couldn’t possibly not know that this isn’t what he wanted at all. But now, things have developed to this point, and even if he wanted to repent, it’s too late. He remembers clearly every word he ever said.

When his son left the family home, he spoke with such determination, never treating any family member as true family. Since that’s the case, why should he demand so much now? His constant demands only push him further down a path of no return. He never imagined he would suffer so much pain and torment in his life. He once thought that as long as he could be happy and persist, even if it meant enduring hardship, it wouldn’t matter.

But now he realizes that in his son’s eyes, his actions were nothing but a joke. His son never expressed gratitude, only resentment. It’s as if he doesn’t even know why he has this son, considering what he went through for him feels entirely unworthy now.

”Deep down, you know you’re my son. No matter what you’ve done, no matter how many mistakes I’ve let you make, you cannot change that fact. I’ve told you this more than once. How else do you want me to explain? Have you ever considered the consequences of everything you abandoned or every mistake you made? Have you ever thought about the pain and grief you caused those who love you? All you want is your own inner happiness.

You treat everyone’s genuine heart as if it means nothing, forgetting that everyone needs your care, forgetting you are also a father with a family and relatives!”

”It’s precisely because I know I have family that I’ve sacrificed so much for you time and again. Why do you never stand in my shoes to consider things? And the result?

Isn’t my life already painful and tiring? You insistently try to drive me out of the house and say such cruel, cold words over and over. Don’t you think it affects me, and do I really deserve this?

You think everything I do is wrong, but have you considered that I’ve done it all for you? Why must you treat me this way? Why can’t you give me even a tiny bit of genuine care? Is it truly so hard to give me your true heart?”

”So now you remember you have family. Have you ever considered how much everyone has struggled? Think of everything you’ve ever done - is there even one thing worthy of our forgiveness? We’ve forgiven you time and again because you’re our family. But you?

You’ve repeatedly hurt us, treating us as family in name only. Really, you don’t even know why you do what you do - it’s all for that little bit of freedom you desire. You think that freedom will bring you happiness and allow you to soar, but you’ve forgotten that as high as you fly, the more painful the fall. Now you should realize what you’ve gained, right? You’ve dreamed of flying time and again, but now?

Can you truly say your life now is happy, joyful, and fulfilling? You’ve forgotten the repeated hurts you’ve caused, the immense pain, and the overwhelming sadness.

They did everything so you could return home peacefully, happily live your life, endured so much public scrutiny and scorn, and yet you never cared.

Maybe, in your eyes, everything you want is nothing but an illusion. But you, what do you actually gain by repeating these actions? You’ve abandoned your family, hurt every single person who’s sincerely loved you over and over. But in the end, what have you gained? Instead, you’ve hurt many more people. Why do you remain obstinate, hurting everyone repeatedly? What are you thinking deep down? What is it that makes you persist in these actions?”

Instead of Liu Mingqing calming the longing between us, it’s better to cover our faces and hide our mutual infatuation.

I finally understand now that among family, we should always write each other’s names, lifetime after lifetime, no matter how dark it gets. And when we turn around, we still hold the most honest heart towards each other.
