My Alleged Husband

Chapter 1461: Chapter 1255: The Resolve Back Then

Thinking back to when I was with the woman I loved most, even though I knew his family might not agree to our marriage, I still chose to be with him. The decision I made during that time might be the most correct one of my life.

All the pain, in that moment, turned into bubbles of happiness.

”Grandfather, I think time has passed long enough, I should take action now. I don’t want my beloved woman to continue living at my future mother-in-law’s home. How inappropriate would that be?”

”Boy, don’t make things sound so nice, alright? You just want to marry her sooner. Why say it so grandly? You find such strong excuses, how are you going to manage things in the future? Are you trying to make your son become a replica of you?” Old Master Zhang said to Zhang Yichen.

Zhang Yichen smiled awkwardly and said to Old Master Zhang, ”Grandfather, even if you understand, don’t say it out loud. It’s so embarrassing when you say it like that. See, you’ve made my face turn red, all because of you!”

”Silly boy, there’s nothing to be embarrassed about. You’ve grown up now; you’re not the young man you once were. You have to take responsibility for yourself and not rush into things on impulse; always think things through before acting. Child, I actually know you’re different from your parents. They can be selfish for love; you, sometimes, act selfishly for love too. But your mind is much clearer than theirs. Your capability is far superior to theirs. Even though you’re their son, your talent greatly exceeds theirs. Sometimes, I can’t understand why my son is so incapable while my grandson is so outstanding. Now, in the whole world, no one dares to bully her with the support of three international countries. It’s an unimaginable feat for anyone. But my grandson, Zhang Mo, has achieved it. It’s truly an honor for the Zhang Family, an eternal honor for our ancestors. I am proud of it!”

”Grandfather, you shouldn’t speak of my parents like that. My parents aren’t bad internally; they just don’t know how to express their love for us relatives. Honestly, I used to hate my parents, but now I don’t. Sometimes, I even miss my mother a bit. Because of her, I am here today. Even though she hurt me so much before, I still care for her regardless, because she is my mother. Without her, there wouldn’t be me, and without me, what right would I have to possess moments worth your pride? After going through some things, I’ve come to understand a few truths. You can’t judge people by their appearance; you need to see what kind of person they truly are. Some people look good on the outside but are bad inside, while others seem bad but are incredibly kind and understanding inside. My mother is like this; she appears fierce because she was bullied growing up and became fearful. She’s afraid that showing weakness before others would invite more bullying. So, she constantly portrays a fierce front to everyone, wanting people to know she cannot be easily bullied. She’s a woman with temper, skill, and capability!”

”Child, then what kind of person is your father in your heart?” Old Master Zhang wanted to see what his grandson thought of Zhang Zhentian.

”Honestly, grandfather, I don’t know how to evaluate my father. In my heart, he’s someone who doesn’t have his son’s regard. I don’t see love for me in his eyes. I always feel he doesn’t care for me. Every time he looks at me, his eyes are full of indifference; do you know what it’s like to face such a cold gaze? Every time I see his look, I feel genuinely uncomfortable inside. As I repeatedly saw him stand up to help me, blocking my mother from hurting my beloved and me, I felt grateful to him. But, when I discovered the truth wasn’t so, my gratitude for him vanished. It’s easy to feel good about someone, but even easier to destroy that feeling. I naively believed he was a father who cared for me. Yet, in the end, I realized I was a fool for trusting a man who secretly manipulated everything—my father. Grandfather, I don’t want to talk anymore. I should get ready and visit my future in-laws to propose!”

”Alright then, prepare quickly for the proposal. Grandfather wishes you success. When you return successfully, I will immediately set a date and plan the wedding for you. I’ll ensure the wedding is perfectly arranged and extraordinarily grand!”

Hearing his grandson’s evaluation of his son left Old Master Zhang feeling uncomfortable. After all, that was his son, and regardless of what he did, he didn’t want anyone to view him so poorly.

Zhang Yichen took Ran Zhihan to her home.

”Mom, Dad, I’m back. I’ve brought my boyfriend home, and I’d like to introduce him to you. I’m thinking of marrying him...”

Ran Zhihan’s parents saw their daughter bring a man, and this man was the son of the woman who hurt them. Her father wasn’t pleased; even though the man looked talented, his family was a mess, and his parents were unreliable.

”Why did you bring this man home? Did you forget how your mother was almost scared to death? It was all caused by his mother. You brazenly bring him home like this, have you thought about your parents’ feelings? In your eyes, where do we stand as your parents?”

”Dad, Mom, don’t say that. Do you really understand him? Do you truly know what kind of person he is? Do you realize how much he has sacrificed for us? He opposed his parents for us, keeping them away for me. Can’t you see his genuine sincerity towards me?”

”Genuine sincerity, do you know what that means? You make us feel cold. If he can keep his parents away for you, one day he might drive you out too. How could I entrust you to such a man? Let him leave; I will never approve of this marriage. I hope you won’t bring him here again; our home doesn’t welcome him. He only brings harm to us, never providing a shred of comfort!”

Life is truly a process of transformation, with everyone holding defenses and hiding their wounds within.
