My Alleged Husband

Chapter 1472: Chapter 1266: A Good End

We both know that being together has left our hearts riddled with holes. Why fear the past wounds we have suffered? Why not bury the past in the wind and never again dwell on each and every mistake we’ve made?

A day later, Ran Zhihan got off the plane at the airport in the UK. She followed the address Xia Jing had given her and arrived at Zhang Yichen’s residence. She knocked on the door, and it was indeed Zhang Yichen who opened it.

Zhang Yichen couldn’t believe his wife was at the door. How could someone who kept such a secretive presence be discovered by his wife? Could someone have dared to sell out his location behind his back? He decided he had to thoroughly investigate who had the audacity to betray him, determined to ruin their economic means.

”Yichen, I didn’t expect you to really be here. Why are you living here? This place can’t be as comfortable as home. Why don’t you come home with me? Let’s not fight anymore, okay?”

”That’s easy for you to say. When you were yelling at me back then, did you not think it would come to this? Do you have any idea how much I wished you could be gentle, understanding, and kind? But why has my wife turned out this way? Go back; I won’t go with you. I’m doing well here. I don’t want to see you. Leave quickly, unless you want me to get physical.”

”I won’t leave. Even if you beat me to death, I won’t leave. You’re my husband. We’re legally married. How can we live apart? Even if you want a separation, legally, it won’t be recognized. Come with me, let’s go home. Grandpa misses you. He knows he shouldn’t have said those things. Grandpa says he’s sorry, he doesn’t want you to be mad at him. All these years, he’s never hit you. It was in a moment of impulse this time that he did. Don’t blame Grandpa; he didn’t mean to hit you. He was just confused by anger and didn’t know how to react, which is why he hit you. You should understand Grandpa!”

”Who understands me if I understand him? Didn’t I make this decision so we could be together? And yet, what did you say to me?”

”I know that saying those things hurt you, but I had no choice. That’s not what I wanted. It was my only way to tell you I love you. I didn’t want you to accept any conditions for being with me that aren’t right. Did you know? Even from my parents, I don’t want you to agree to such terms. I didn’t expect my parents to make such demands on you, but you shouldn’t have agreed with them!”

”Then what do you want me to do? To be with you, what else do you want from me? If I wasn’t trying to be with you, I wouldn’t have made so many sacrifices. I could give up my career of many years for you. And how did you treat me in return? Just because I agreed with your parents, you treat me like this? With cold indifference, even running away from home? Do you still see yourself as a daughter-in-law of the Zhang Family? Am I still your husband in your heart? Is Grandpa still considered in your heart? You asked me to consider Grandpa, did you consider him at all? You made Grandpa feel so hurt with your words. Have you ever thought about our pain? Did you ever think about how much your leaving home impacted us? You always think everything you do is right, don’t you?”

Ran Zhihan shook her head, speaking to Zhang Yichen, ”Yichen, I hope you understand something. I never intended to treat you and Grandpa like this. In my heart, you are the most important person to me in this life. I can even abandon my own parents for you. I don’t want this to happen between us. I don’t want to break ties with my parents because you agreed to their conditions. I know my parents’ words and actions toward you were for our benefit. I also know your actions were for me, but I just can’t accept it. We’ve known and accompanied each other for over ten years. Can’t that withstand my parents’ few demands? I don’t know exactly what was said, nor what was relayed to you, but why did you have to make those agreements? Were you really planning to keep me in the dark forever? If I hadn’t stumbled onto the truth by accident, would you have hidden it from me for a lifetime? Were you never planning to tell me about your agreements?”

”I never intended to hide it from you forever. I was just hoping to wait three years to tell you about it. By that time, even if you couldn’t accept it, it would be a settled matter. Besides, after three years, you wouldn’t delve into it so deeply. Was it wrong of me to want this? I just want you to live happily without worries. Was it wrong for me to be so considerate of you? I hold you in such high regard and only hope you can stay by my side for a lifetime, never leaving me. That means more to me than anything. I don’t ask for you to bring me great benefits, not for you to be extraordinarily kind, beautiful, or considerate. I only wish to watch you by my side for a lifetime, and that’s enough...”

Listening to Zhang Yichen’s words, Ran Zhihan felt touched deep inside. Perhaps she truly had been wrong about this matter.

”It’s my fault. I shouldn’t have spoken to you without understanding the situation and then left home. Please stop being angry with me. What will it take for you to forgive me? Do you want me to clean the entire house to make it up to you? As long as you forgive me, I can bring you home. Family members are waiting anxiously for your triumphant return. You’ve been negotiating business here for so long; don’t you want to go home now? Don’t you want to see Grandpa, the elder who raised you with all his effort from a young age? I know nothing I say now can make you forgive me, but I truly realize my wrongdoing. I won’t speak to you like this again. If you’re willing to go home with me, I can stay home for you forever and won’t go out to build my own career again!”

”As long as you’re willing to stay home for me, accompany Grandpa, always stay by my side, I’ll go home with you!”

Ran Zhihan was overjoyed to hear Zhang Yichen’s words and quickly nodded in agreement with him.

The moment he agreed to go home with me, I should have resolved never to doubt anything else for the rest of my life. It’s the only way to ensure true happiness between us. But now, it has all turned to bubbles, mere illusions.
