My Alleged Husband

Chapter 1474: Chapter 1268: Shouldn’t Have

Back then, for you, I experienced emotions I shouldn’t have, achieved fame I didn’t deserve, and gave away my heart when I shouldn’t have. I had regrets I shouldn’t have had and cried out names I shouldn’t have. I crossed countless mountains I should never have ventured over.

People believe there exists a perfect man in this world, but does he really exist? He simply does not.

”Do you really think you’re a good man? In fact, you’re not a good man at all. Don’t you have any sense of that in your heart?

You’ve done so many wrong things, yet you always blame others exclusively, never considering taking responsibility yourself. You are a coward; I don’t wish to marry a coward, nor do I want to live together with one for the rest of my life!

Now that things have reached this point, there’s no need for us to say anything more. Each of us is already living the life we want. Isn’t that better? Why continue to entangle and batter each other here? Everything from the past is now just clouded memories; there’s no point in forcing something that doesn’t belong to you. Even if you keep thinking about those things, they don’t belong to you and have nothing to do with you. Why sacrifice a lifetime of happiness for them?

From the start, I used you. I used your love for me and your affection to achieve my goals. To attain my objectives, I resorted to any means necessary, even doing things you could never imagine. You never conceived of the things I said behind your back?”

In the past few days, I’ve really not wanted to hear anything more from him. He raised his hand and slapped him, and was shocked by this action from his own son. He never thought his son would strike a woman, or that last time his son would dare to hit his most beloved wife. If this is his version of love, then his son ought to face some consequences.

”Shut up for me with those words. If you keep talking to me like this, don’t blame me for being unkind. Whether I am a coward or not has nothing to do with you, and the kind of person I know also has nothing to do with you. I’ve made myself very clear to you, it’s what you wanted. From this moment, we are no longer connected, no longer related. We’re merely strangers. So on what basis do you speak to a stranger in such a tone? I don’t care what you did behind my back before, or if being with me served some purpose for you. I don’t mind anymore. But I don’t want to hear anyone say I’m a coward again, otherwise, I’ll lay all the blame on you!”

Xia Jing didn’t expect Zhang Zhentian would actually hit her. All these years, even though she’d made many mistakes, Zhang Zhentian had never laid hands on her. This was the first time, and she was truly stunned.

”You actually dare to hit me, but I hope you’ll remember this act for the rest of your life. Since you’ve hit me, it proves there will be nothing between us anymore. You’ve single-handedly broken our relationship. Remember, if one day you come back to beg me to return to your side, please recall what you did to me today. This slap has severed our decades-long marital bond. For decades, you never hit me. Every day we spent together was filled with laughter, but today, merely because I called you a coward, you hit me with your own hand. Can you not take a single joke at your expense? In your heart, don’t you actually think you’re a rather useless man? Always timid, never showing the courage of a man, and when trouble arises, you depend on a woman to fight for you. Don’t you feel your life is quite a failure? As a man who can hit a woman, it only proves that you really are a useless man.

I won’t argue with you any further, but remember this slap. On my face are the marks of your hand, signifying the end of our acquaintance, our understanding, our companionship, and our parting...

If I’d known earlier that you were capable of hitting a woman, I would never have been with you, as such actions bring me shame. What kind of grown man dares to strike his own wife? It proves that such a man lacks any sense of responsibility. Your actions have demonstrated you’re useless, a coward, and devoid of responsibility. This only shows others see your every mistake as contemptible behavior!”

Zhang Zhentian gazed at his own hands, never imagining he would, in a moment of anger, hit the woman he loved most. Yet, this might indeed have ended all feelings between them. Such a proud woman struck publicly by a man.

Xia Jing, under no circumstances, could accept such a thing, even if this man loved her, even if he once sacrificed everything for her without heed. Today, he struck her, yet this slap thoroughly crushed her heart.

”Xia Jing, I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to hit you. It was done in a moment of anger. I never intended to hurt you. Please, forgive me, won’t you? Don’t be mad at me, or I truly don’t know what to do!”

”I don’t want to hear these words from you anymore, nor do I want you to think about keeping me by your side. Whether you intended to or not, you hit me, proving you don’t love me that much. If you don’t love me, don’t drag me down. Let me pursue the love I seek, live my life, and get the things I most anticipate in this lifetime!

Perhaps you think that slap was unintentional, but to me, it was deliberate. You hit me on purpose, just to keep me from speaking out because you couldn’t accept your cowardly behavior. I have thought about it. If the person I love the most ever hit me, no matter what, I would never live with him again. A man who hits his wife isn’t a real man, and I absolutely refuse to share my life with someone who isn’t a man!

Can you still claim to be a man?”

Zhang Zhentian was speechless, knowing this time he was in the wrong!

All of it is just that little bit of desire deep in each other’s hearts. Who knows what remains after that is shattered, or if any of it is truly what one desires?
