My Alleged Husband

Chapter 1454: Chapter 1248: Who Hasn’t Been Afraid?

Fear is not something to be ashamed of. In life, no one can always live boldly and recklessly. Everyone has been afraid of losing something they once cared about.

Do not change for past events, do not give up your own path because of others’ opinions, and do not change yourself for anyone.

When Zhang Yichen rushed from home to the hospital urgently, he found his wife huddled on the bed, trembling. He didn’t understand why his wife suddenly became so timid. He didn’t know when he could help her return to normal. What had he, as her husband, done to make her become like this, while he could only stand by and watch, helplessly? This made him feel like a failure.

Sometimes, deep down, he couldn’t help but think, if he had accompanied her more often, would the outcome be much better than now? Would he not have to suffer the repeated torments from his loved ones? And could his wife live a normal life without enduring such agony as now?

He wasn’t the one who made mistakes every time, yet he’s the one bearing the consequences. He didn’t know what to do to make everything different from the past. What did he do wrong to make all the suffering fall on him? How hard has he lived alone all these years, and who has ever considered things from his perspective? Despite all his efforts repeatedly, he realized this was not what he wanted most.

”How is my wife? Why has she become so timid today? She wasn’t like this before. She was always brave. As long as she had an idea, she would confidently do it without considering the consequences. She only cared about her ways. But seeing her like this now makes me really sad.”

”There’s nothing wrong with your temperament. His current state is a normal symptom. He’s afraid of everyone approaching him because he thinks everyone will hurt him. He’s deeply insecure. All this is the result of years of pressure suddenly bursting. I don’t know how you lived over the years together, but what kind of pressure you gave him that led to such a relapse. Seeing him like this makes me feel bad too. No matter what, he’s your wife. Maybe he lacks the company of his husband and parents?”

You’ve been married for so many years, yet why haven’t you taken him to the United States to see his parents? If he could always be with his parents a bit, maybe it wouldn’t be like this. What he needs most now is the care and love from his own parents. He’s not mentally clear. Only when he hears his parent’s voice does he become a bit clearer. Maybe that’s when he will know what he’s done. You could try bringing his parents back home to accompany their daughter here.

This is just my suggestion as a doctor. If you think this method is not good, you can reject it, but it’s better to take such measures. Clinically, many cases show patients improve through repeated companionship and communication with their parents. Maybe, such results truly help you achieve a different outcome.”

Zhang Yichen was conflicted about whether he should seek help from his in-laws now. He once vowed to take good care of his wife, let her live happily throughout his life, and never be sad about anything. But now, as her husband, what has he done to make her become like this? What attitude should he use to seek forgiveness from his family? Will his in-laws really forgive him? This is their only daughter, but because of him, she’s become a shadow of her former self. How could any parent bear to see their child suffer without saying or doing anything?

Zhang Ni had just gone out to buy a cup of water and returned, seeing his father and the doctor talking outside. He didn’t understand why his father suddenly came back. Could it be because there was a new condition with his mother again? He was anxious, rushing over.

”Dad, weren’t you going home to handle some matters? Why did you come over so quickly? Was everything at home resolved, or did something happen again?”

The doctor, understanding the father and son needed to talk, politely left. Zhang Yichen looked at his son, not knowing what he was doing.

”Can you explain what you’ve been doing? When you asked me to go back and handle things, how did you promise me? You said you’d stay here and accompany your mother, wouldn’t leave her side. But why weren’t you here when I came? Do you know the doctor said your mother’s condition suddenly relapsed? Do you know how worried I was at that moment? Why aren’t you, as a son, more devoted? If you didn’t want to stay here, you could’ve directly told me. Why make me stay here and let you go back to handle things, promising to stay here but disappearing? It’s dangerous. Look at your mother, curled up on the bed, trembling. Does that give you any peace of mind? Don’t you feel a bit of heartache or guilt?”

This is the first time I’ve said things hard to say to you over these years. You’re my son. Under normal circumstances, I wouldn’t say harsh words to you, but now I am truly helpless. You know how worried I am about your mother’s wellbeing too. I only wish for her safety and peace. Looking at her now, do you think I can continue to live happily? I’ve never wanted much.

Just take it as your dad asking you, please. If you sincerely want to stay here and take care of your mother, stay here properly. Don’t leave often. I know you also have things to busy with, but don’t you know your grandparents are planning to leave home again now? I also know deep down you hope they could return. You miss their company, but I also miss mine. If they leave again this time, I don’t know when I’ll be able to see them again. You must understand my feelings as a son, right? It’s the same love you hope to receive from your mom and me!”

Everyone has been afraid. No one living in this world without any fears is almost impossible, unless they’re truly isolated, with nothing and no desires.
