My Alleged Husband

Chapter 1479: Chapter 1273: Gifts of Affection

When I walked down all the roads I shouldn’t have, but thought all the thoughts I shouldn’t have, when I repeatedly took that path others didn’t approve of, I ultimately still turned into a mess that left me disheartened.

Zhang Zhentian knew all the words his son said were true, but throughout his life, all he ever wanted was to love so deeply, to love Xia Jing wholeheartedly just once.

He believed that finding someone who truly loves you in a lifetime is not easy, even though the person he loves does not have him in her heart, what harm is there if he alone loves her?

If he always bases his actions on efficiency, always considers whether others will repay him, always thinks about whether his efforts will be reciprocated,

if that is truly how it should be, then what’s the meaning of living in this world? Living in the world, besides the thrill of making deals with others, how would he ever find true love? Others would only think his giving is just a deal, would they still want to be with him?

”Son, everyone has a different perspective on things, don’t try to enforce your way of thinking on me, because it’s unrealistic. If my heart is truly set to love her, no matter what anyone says, nothing will change because of your decisions, just give up already.

No matter what, she is, after all, your mother.

You should at least have the basic respect for your mother. Whatever happens between her and me has nothing to do with you. It’s enough for you to live your life steadily, why get involved? Doing so will only make everyone think you are extraordinary, you will not gain any good results, nor any praise!”

Zhang Yichen felt he was about to be driven mad by his father. All that he did was for his father’s sake, why in his father’s eyes, was everything he did wrong? Is he really that incomprehensible?

All he wanted was to have a stable family, to make his mother realize how much his father loves her, and to be moved, to fall in love with his father, even if just a little.

But in his father’s eyes, his actions were unnecessary, he would not thank him for anything he did but felt he was interfering too much.

”Do whatever you want, I will never meddle in your business again, nor will I ask. You can do whatever you want with my mom, I wanted to help you out of kindness, but you think I’m harming you!

No matter how much resentment I have against you, I will not harm you because you are my father. I am dissatisfied with my mother, but I’ve never wanted this to break you apart!

You really underestimate me, do I lack even the most basic principles of being a person? Just because you’ve abandoned me, does it mean I should seek revenge in everything I do?

Revenge was never my true intention, I will not seek revenge for anything. If I truly wanted revenge, you’d be facing far more than mere quarrels. Just because I do not mention some things does not mean I can truly endure them. You wrong me time and time again, what am I to you, so easily wronged? Have you ever considered what I actually want?

No matter how much you’ve wronged me, I won’t take revenge on you. My years of schooling are not in vain, I worked hard shedding sweat and tears to reach the peak of my life, why would I ruin my future for you?

Just to avenge your past impulses, should I gamble away my lifetime’s happiness and destiny? I’m not a fool, I won’t do that, because it’s not worth it!

When I choose to tell you all of this today, but you heartlessly suspect I’m trying to harm you, the moment I turn around, I will no longer care about you, do whatever you wish, it will not affect me in any way!

Because long ago we were already unconnected, I only want you to clearly understand that some things should be done, some should not, some things should be done, others cannot be indulged. Since you’ve made this decision today, don’t blame anyone in the future when facing any consequence that comes your way.”

After finishing, Zhang Yichen really walked away. He felt suffocated staying there any longer, he came to help his father out of kindness, but why, in his father’s eyes, is he only harming him?

Does he really appear so fierce that everyone just has to shy away from him?

Xia Jing knew her son was about to come out, she quickly turned away.

She absolutely could not let her son know that she had overheard all the conversations from outside the door. Otherwise, her son’s resentment against her could grow. Though she knew her son’s words were not malicious, in her heart, they were still painful reminders.

But that is her son, why does he harbor such deep prejudices against her?

In her son’s eyes, she was just a loveless mother, in his eyes, nothing she did was right. She wondered why her life turned her son so biased against her.

She felt completely unhappy hearing her husband reprimand her son.

Even after treating her husband this way, time and time again, he would defend her when others criticized her in front of him.

Could she really not open up a little to him?

If she just opened up a little, placed him a bit in her heart, would the outcome have been completely different? Every man only wants his wife’s sincere love, not a heart constantly thinking of another man. That is simply too cruel and harsh for a person to bear.

Maybe she should truly learn to embrace it a little, otherwise, when he truly turns away, she would realize what she lost in this lifetime. If that day truly comes, would it not be too late?

Perhaps the world is truly fair, forcing herself to let go of things she’s never wanted to walk away from so she can accept a reality she must come to terms with...

When difficulties arise, maybe the first thing we think is everyone for themselves, but who would have thought that we never bow to difficulties, and when we repeatedly face setbacks, unity reminds us that what matters most is truly being together as a family.
