My Alleged Husband

Chapter 1478: Chapter 1272: Refreshing

Originally, he couldn’t understand why his parents argued over and over again, yet he never knew what they truly thought.

Later, he realized that all of this was simply because the presence of true love couldn’t be ignored; perhaps they just had never let go of each other.

Some harm exists just as it is, and no matter how much time passes, its essence cannot change.

Zhang Yichen had truly had enough of his parents; they argued all day long!

Aren’t they tired of arguing every day?

He sometimes really couldn’t understand what his parents truly thought; what harm could repeated arguments bring them that they weren’t already aware of? At their age, why do they act without considering the consequences?

The most frequent sound at home was their arguments, and he truly didn’t know what purpose those repeated arguments served. Each argument only made everyone in the family feel that the house was not harmonious at all. Nobody would want to see disharmony in a family.

”I tell you two, can’t you stop arguing? Every day I come home from work exhausted and hear nothing but my parents’ arguments. Do you think my heart will feel at ease this way? How can I have any motivation to work? Why do you always only consider your own thoughts and never care about whether others are hurt by your actions? You really disrupt my life, do you understand?

You say you stay at home to make it up to me, but is that really making it up? It’s just hurting me over and over. Why do you think you’re doing this? Is your return home only to interfere with me again and again, to disrupt every decision I make?”

Zhang Zhentian heard what his son said to him, and he sometimes couldn’t help but ask himself—why did he do this, why make such decisions over and over again? Was it really to make this family happier, or just to hurt them again and again?

Clearly, he intended to do a good thing, just wanted to stay by his family’s side, but why did everything he did seem so meaningless to them?

Xia Jing also couldn’t understand why her actions were never understood by her husband. Why did her son say such heartless things to her time and again? She was his biological mother, after all. How much did her own son hate her for a mother to say such harsh things repeatedly?

In their eyes, was she, as a parent, truly worth nothing?

The more Xia Jing thought, the sadder she became. She didn’t want such things to happen to her, but there was nothing she could do. She always wanted her family to live a happy and joyful life, but repeated arguments still comforted her, though some arguments were unavoidable. Some altercations made relationships strained and delicate.

Perhaps in the eyes of the entire family, every decision she made was wrong, but who knew that all her decisions were for the good of the family. Even if she confessed everything, it was just to encourage honesty without any concealment. Yet why did her sincerity result in such treatment?

”Yichen, if you feel that our return home disrupts your life and makes it less peaceful than it used to be, I hope you can understand us. We sometimes don’t want to argue, but some arguments are unavoidable. I also want everyone to live a happy and joyful life, but there are things I truly have no way to foresee!

We don’t know exactly how exhausting your work is; although we know what you’ve sacrificed over the years and what you’ve lost in the end, we never really understood your work. You single-handedly supported the family and an entire company of thousands, even 30,000 workers under your management. I know it is mentally exhausting; even a slight mistake could ruin this project!

As parents, we aren’t ignorant of the stakes involved. We just chose to say nothing because, perhaps, that’s the biggest help to you. If we interfere in your decisions, you’d only grow to resent us more and more!”

”I don’t think you need to say so much; I just want to ask you, don’t you find it annoying? Why do you always have to argue? Why do I come home to the sound of your arguments? If it were you working tirelessly out there and returning home to the sound of your family arguing, how would you feel? Wouldn’t you feel exhausted?

Yes, I am physically and mentally exhausted when I come home, expecting a nice dinner, expecting a word of care from my parents. But instead, you give me endless arguments. How do you think endless arguments affect me? You only care about your interests and neglect that your family also needs your genuine care.”

”Fine, fine, whatever you say is right. Rest assured, in the future, Mom and Dad will no longer argue. You can work in peace, and we won’t disturb you!”

Xia Jing knew her son was indeed right. A family that argued every day couldn’t make its members feel harmonious. Compared to other families, who must be so happy and joyful, why was it so hard for their family to live happily?

She decided that, if not for anything else, then for her child’s sake, she definitely wouldn’t let any more arguments happen. Otherwise, it would make everyone feel like she was an incompetent mother and a family member who only brought endless trouble and worries to the home.

Probably, her child was tired of her; with constant arguing every day, how could he not be tired while working so hard?

”Xia Jing, don’t take Yichen’s words to heart. He just got too angry for a moment. He’s your son; you should understand him. Don’t let his words weigh on you. Treat me as you have before. Don’t hold back because of our son...”

Maybe when you finally look at everything from a new perspective, it will no longer be that difficult between you. Perhaps only when you both truly let go will everything else follow suit.
