Super Rich by Doing as You Please

”That kid... just now, you saw that, didn’t you?”

Xi Huai’an said angrily to his wife, ”He actually, right in front of my face, with Xino...”

”Alright, calm down.”

Cheng Yuelan wasn’t bothered by what had just happened at all. ”Young people these days are just full of passion,” she said. ”You’ll get used to it after you see it a few more times.”

”A few more times?!!!”

Xi Huai’an completely lost his cool and roared, ”Next time he dares to kiss my daughter in front of me, I’ll... I’ll...”

”You’ll what?”

Cheng Yuelan couldn’t help but laugh. ”As long as your daughter is willing, what can you do but endure it or close your eyes and not look? Are you really going to hit him?

If you dared to hit him, your daughter would be the first to object, and I’d be the second.

Besides, the man spent two billion to make you look good in front of your old classmates. What’s the big deal if he kisses your daughter?

If someone gave me two billion, I’d be willing to let them have a kiss too.”

”...” Xi Huai’an was speechless.

’Oh, for crying out loud.’

’I’m speechless. Utterly speechless!’

...

After parting ways with Xu Yun, Lin Wanzhou returned home from the airport. Wang Yurou was already there, having prepared dinner and waiting for him.

Although it was just the two of them, the meal was still a lavish spread of five dishes and a soup.

”Brother Lin, you’re back.”

Wang Yurou took his jacket with a smile. ”You must be hungry. Go wash your hands so we can eat.”

”Okay.”

When Lin Wanzhou came back from washing his hands, he found his bowl had already been filled with rice.

”This is way too much.”

Lin Wanzhou looked at the table full of food. ”Before you came, I’d usually just make a bowl of noodles for myself.”

”How can a house with a woman in it be the same as one without?”

Wang Yurou couldn’t help but laugh. ”I’m living in your house, eating your food, and spending your money. If I can’t even make a decent meal, I’d be too ashamed to stay.”

”Don’t overthink it. Just treat this place as your own home.”

Lin Wanzhou quickly added, ”As long as you want to, you can stay here for as long as you like.”

Wang Yurou blushed and nodded with a smile, then asked curiously, ”Did Brother Xu ask you out for something important today?”

”He just bought a private jet.”

Lin Wanzhou said, ”He asked me to go over and give it a once-over, to see if there were any problems.”

”A private jet?” To Wang Yurou, this was completely unbelievable.

For someone like her, just affording a regular plane ticket was a struggle. It was so expensive, yet he had actually bought a whole plane for himself.

Wang Yurou asked in astonishment, ”How much would that cost?”

”From what he said, I think it was several hundred million.”

”That’s incredible...”

Hearing that number, Wang Yurou’s mind went blank. It was a figure so large it had no concrete meaning to her.

She only knew it was a tremendous amount of money, more than an ordinary person like her could earn in several lifetimes.

But she wasn’t the least bit envious.

’It has nothing to do with me, anyway.’

Wang Yurou hesitated for a moment before bringing up her own situation.

”Brother Lin, it’s not right for me to just stay idle at your home all the time.”

Wang Yurou said, as if to discuss it, ”I’d like to go out and find a job tomorrow, just to get started.”

”No need. I’ve already found a job for you.”

Lin Wanzhou smiled. ”Didn’t you used to run a small convenience store back home? The job I found for you should be a pretty good fit.”

Wang Yurou asked, ”What kind of job?”

”You’ll be an assistant to the manager at a supermarket.”

Lin Wanzhou explained while eating, ”The work mainly involves helping the manager with daily tasks and assisting with the supermarket’s operations.”

”With my abilities? How could I possibly manage a supermarket?”

”What’s there not to know?”

Lin Wanzhou encouraged her, ”A supermarket is just a bigger convenience store. You can do it. I heard the salary is 12,000 a month, and it includes social insurance and a housing fund. The only thing is that the holidays are on a rotating schedule.”

”Thank you, Brother Lin.”

Wang Yurou said, ”Alright then, I’ll go give it a try. I hope I don’t embarrass you.”

”You won’t.”

”Oh, by the way~”

Wang Yurou suddenly asked, ”Didn’t you say on the phone last time that there was a woman pestering you? I haven’t seen anyone. It’s making my role as your fake girlfriend feel pretty useless.”

”Ah, about that.”

Lin Wanzhou froze for a second, then said guiltily, ”I guess she’s been a bit busy these past few days and hasn’t had time to come find me.”

”Hmm, well, next time she comes looking for you, remember to call me to help you out.”

”Okay, sure.” Lin Wanzhou lowered his head and shoveled rice into his mouth, not daring to continue the conversation.

’What woman? That was just an excuse Xu Yun taught me to use.’

’Now where am I supposed to find a woman like that?’

...

「That evening, in another apartment.」

After dinner, Wu Jinyan went to her study to continue organizing the preparatory materials she was working on.

Her daughter, having cut up some fruit, brought it in for her and asked with some confusion, ”Mom, you’ve been running back and forth to the dean’s office all day, and you’re still busy now that you’re home. What are you working on?”

”I’m busy with scholarship matters.”

”The scholarship thing? You’ve already done your best.”

The young woman comforted her, ”The university only gives your department so many spots each year. It’s impossible to take care of everyone.”

”I know, but that’s not what I’m busy with.” Wu Jinyan put down the documents in her hand, deciding to take a break and chat with her daughter.

After her daughter graduated from her master’s program at Jiang University, Wu Jinyan had pulled some strings to help her successfully stay on at the university as an English teacher.

She asked, ”Do you remember one of my students? His name is Xu Yun. He’s two years ahead of you.”

”I have a vague impression of him.”

The young woman thought for a moment. ”I think you quite liked him back then. You thought he was smart, but mostly because he was always sucking up to you. He just wanted you to bail him out if he failed his final exams.”

”Yes, that’s the one.”

Wu Jinyan smiled and admitted frankly, ”I genuinely liked him from the bottom of my heart back then. When he was a junior and you were a freshman, I even thought about setting you two up.”

This was the first time the young woman had heard her mom mention this.

”But that fellow was never really willing.”

Wu Jinyan sighed with a hint of regret. ”So I gave up on the idea and never mentioned it to you.

Thinking back now, if I had just been a little more persistent, maybe the two of you would be married by now.”

”He was turning *me* down?”

Hearing this, the young woman was instantly peeved. ”Even if he had been willing back then, I wouldn’t have been! There were so many outstanding guys who liked me.”

”It wasn’t that he disliked you.”

Wu Jinyan looked at her beautiful daughter and smiled. ”The reason he gave me at the time was, ’A man should first establish his career before getting a girlfriend!’”

The young woman’s mood improved considerably upon hearing that.

At least it wasn’t because he didn’t find her charming.

Women are like that, always concerned about their own appeal.

Still, his reason sounded a bit pretentious.

But guys are like that at a certain age!

Some of the male students she taught now did and said things that were even more cringey than what Xu Yun said!

The young woman asked curiously, ”Mom, why are you suddenly telling me about him?”

”Because I ran into him at the university last night.”

Wu Jinyan smiled. ”Compared to when he was a student, he’s matured a lot, become much more handsome, and most importantly, he’s developed a certain charisma.”

Hearing this, the young woman couldn’t help but tease, ”So did you ask him? After all these years since graduation, has he ’established his career’? Has he found a girlfriend?”

”He has, and it’s a big one.”

Wu Jinyan said happily, ”Back when he was in school, I always felt he would have a great future. I just never expected that in just five or six years, his net worth would exceed a hundred million, and he’d have found a very beautiful and gentle-looking girlfriend.”

The young woman was dumbfounded.

’No way, his net worth is over a hundred million?’

’That load of crap he was spouting as a student... he actually made it happen?’

”The reason I’ve been busy with the scholarship all day is because of him.”

Wu Jinyan explained, ”Yesterday, after he learned that I was worried about the scholarship funds, he told me he was willing to establish a financial aid scholarship program in our department to help students in need.

So he’s put me in charge of it.”

The young woman was speechless.

”He named his scholarship program the ’Xu Yun Scholarship Fund’.”

Wu Jinyan ate a piece of fruit and chuckled. ”Ah, he’s still the same as he was in school. He never wants to be an unsung hero. It looks like he wants to leave a lasting name for himself at his alma mater.”

”Mom~”

The young woman still found this a bit hard to believe.

She offered a well-intentioned warning, ”Have you considered that he might have just been bragging last night to save face in front of you?”

Wu Jinyan froze.

Her daughter analyzed the situation, ”A net worth of over a hundred million in just a few years? And here in Jiangcheng?

An entrepreneur that young, and an alumnus of Jiang University at that... there’s no way the university wouldn’t know about him.

Why wasn’t he invited back for the last anniversary celebration with the other outstanding alumni?”

Wu Jinyan fell silent.

’Yesterday, I was just so happy I didn’t think it through at all. I didn’t consider the details.’

Now that she snapped out of it and listened to her daughter’s analysis, it started to make a lot of sense!

Wu Jinyan’s confidence began to waver.

’Could Xu Yun have really lied to me?’
