Super Rich by Doing as You Please

Wang Yurou, seeing she was older than Chen Xin, also greeted her warmly, ”Hello, Young Sister Xin.”

”Hello, it’s nice to meet you.”

Xu Yun said, ”You can chat later. Let’s go inside. The team-building event is about to start.”

Zhao Dong had already come out to wait. Seeing Xu Yun and his group arrive, he quickly ushered them inside.

Xu Yun kindly reminded Wang Yurou to go and sign in, telling her she could get a phone.

When Chen Xin heard this, she also ran over to sign in and get a phone.

The group of four quietly appeared in the main hall, passed through the lively crowd, and then went straight up to the second floor.

Their spot had already been arranged.

It was a booth right in the center.

But it was also the most secluded spot. Only people on the second floor could see them; those in the main hall below could not.

The people below might not have noticed, but the women upstairs had spotted them long ago.

All their eyes turned to Xu Yun.

And to the unfamiliar woman beside him.

As for Chen Xin, some of the women recognized her, while others did not.

Thus, some were surprised—namely, the five women: Su Mu, Li Jinshu, Ning Qian, Liang Yan, and Yu Xuan.

’I can’t believe even she came to this event.’

Others were puzzled, such as Xino, Jiang Peiyao, Yang Siqi, and Jian Shiwai.

It was the first time any of them had seen her.

But without exception, they all knew that for a woman to be standing right beside Xu Yun in a setting like this undoubtedly meant something!

Or rather, Xu Yun himself was sending a signal to everyone.

Among all the women, the most upset was undoubtedly Xino, who had a bit of a princess complex.

She had always positioned herself—or rather, considered herself—his main partner.

But now, Chen Xin’s appearance made her feel like her position was unstable, and a powerful sense of crisis washed over her.

This was no longer a question of her being magnanimous.

Xino turned to her ally, Jiang Peiyao, and asked, ”Who is that woman?”

”I don’t know her either.”

Jiang Peiyao looked at the woman, who was clearly reserved and socially awkward, and shook her head. ”This is the first time I’ve ever seen her!”

On the other side, Liang Yan took in the expressions of all the women present.

’Hahaha, looks like everyone’s been made a fool of now.’

’In front of this young mistress, your status is no different from mine!’

She turned to the equally curious Wanqing beside her and explained with a hint of schadenfreude, ”Speak of the devil. The person I was just telling you about? That’s our young mistress right there.”

”See that? The moment she arrives, she’s standing right next to Xu Yun, and everyone else has been pushed to the side.”

”What does her family do?”

In Wanqing’s eyes, for someone to hold such a position, her family must be extraordinary.

”Nothing at all. She’s just a girl-next-door from an ordinary family who makes a living writing novels.”

Liang Yan said with envy, ”But there’s nothing to be done about it. Some people are just born lucky.”

Wanqing was speechless.

Xu Yun felt the women’s gazes on him, gave them a smile, and walked to his seat.

Lin Wanzhou looked at all the women surrounding them and felt a headache coming on for Xu Yun’s sake.

He whispered, ”You’re really pulling a stunt like this. Aren’t you afraid a Chaotic Scene is going to break out?”

”With me here? What Chaotic Scene could there be?”

Xu Yun said, ”I’m doing this precisely so they understand that there are others, and so they understand their own place. If any of them are unhappy about it, they can just leave. I’m not stopping them.”

”Scumbag!” Lin Wanzhou couldn’t help but curse.

Chen Xin and Wang Yurou weren’t used to this kind of occasion to begin with, and with their similar personalities, they hit it off immediately, becoming fast friends.

Right now, the two of them were off to the side, ignoring Xu Yun and Lin Wanzhou, completely focused on sharing the various fruits and snacks in their booth.

Zhao Dong checked the time and asked from the side, ”President Xu, it’s time. Should we begin?”

Xu Yun nodded. ”Alright, let’s begin.”

Taking the cue, Zhao Dong passed down the order.

The bar staff instantly sprang into action.

The entire hall plunged into darkness. Then, a woman dressed in a traditional Hanfu slowly took the stage to a DJ remix of ”Spring Courtyard Snow” and began to dance sensually.

”This life is too long, yet ends with you so near and yet so far~”

”Who still remembers when the pear blossoms fell like snow~”

”My heart is no stone to be turned, my will no mat to be rolled~”

”...”

In that moment, the atmosphere in the bar ignited.

The crowd below, especially the young men, immediately started singing along loudly, swaying their bodies and getting hyped up together.

Since everyone was a familiar colleague, no one was worried about trouble, and they all let loose.

Xu Yun stood on the second floor watching the happy scene below and exclaimed, ”See? This is what a fucking team-building event is supposed to be!”

As the opening dance concluded, a voice boomed over the speakers:

”If no one helps me achieve my soaring ambitions, I’ll climb to the snowy peak myself!”

The host for the evening’s events then walked onto the stage, a bunny girl standing beside him holding a bottle of champagne!

”Welcome, everyone, to our grand annual team-building event.”

The host laughed. ”Who says company team-building has to be boring? Who says it has to be something you hate?”

Tonight, thanks to several of our beautiful female bosses joining forces, we’re all gathered here to have fun, drink to our hearts’ content, and spend a happy and unforgettable evening together.

Aren’t the free phones great?

And do you really think it’s just phones?

Then take a look behind me!”

As a staff member wheeled out a small cart covered by a black cloth, the host excitedly whipped it off, revealing the contents to the crowd.

Instantly, everyone saw stacks upon stacks of 100-yuan bills piled neatly on the cart.

The crowd: ”!!!”

”Is that exciting or what? Surprised?”

The host announced excitedly, ”This is one million in cash from our bosses! Later, through various games, it will all become yours!”

”In other words, you all get to split this one million in cash tonight!”

”ROAR! ROAR! ROAR!”

Who doesn’t love money?

Everyone stared at the mountain of cash, overjoyed at the news they’d have a chance to split it tonight.

One excited woman couldn’t help but be the first to shout, ”President Su, I love you!”

Then, more and more people—men and women alike—joined in.

”President Li, you’re the most beautiful woman in the world!”

”Long live President Liang!”

”...”

The employees of each company cheered gratefully for their respective bosses.

On the second floor, the women all responded to the crowd with smiles.

”And now, let’s get this party STARTED!”

After shouting this, the host turned, took the bottle of champagne from the bunny girl beside him, shook it vigorously, and popped it open!

POP!

With a crisp pop, the cork shot out.

The champagne instantly sprayed everywhere.

”WHOOO~”

The crowd below immediately grabbed the champagne bottles at their booths and began imitating him, expressing their elation.

For a moment, champagne sprayed everywhere, and the scent filled the entire bar.

At the same time, they thought of the colleagues who hadn’t come to the event and silently cursed them in their hearts, ’Fucking idiots!’

The bar staff were professionals when it came to running this kind of event.

Thanks to the planning of Zhao Dong and his team, the atmosphere was lively, and there was never a dull moment.

At first, the employees from the different companies weren’t familiar with each other, but after a few rounds of drinks and some icebreaker games, they quickly warmed up to one another.

Some even discovered they were alumni of the same school or came from the same hometown.

Some of the young men and women even hit it off, exchanging WeChat contacts with plans to see where things might lead.

The whole thing felt less like a team-building event and more like a massive social mixer.

While the employees downstairs had their own fun, the group upstairs was engaged in their own ”friendly interactions.”

During breaks in the festivities, the women on the second floor would grab their wine glasses. Besides making a point to go chat with Xu Yun, they would also go and meet with the people who had caught their attention.

Know your enemy and know yourself, and you can fight a hundred battles without defeat.

For instance, after leaving Xu Yun’s side, Su Mu took her glass and walked toward Yang Siqi.

Xino, on the other hand, made a beeline straight for Chen Xin.

Song Xiaowei’s emotional intelligence had clearly improved after her time hosting a variety show. After toasting and sipping her drink with the women she knew, she made her way around to greet the others in a friendly manner.

Li Jinshu grabbed Ning Qian and went to challenge Jian Shiwai and Jiang Peiyao to a drinking contest.

So even if Jiang Peiyao and Jian Shiwai didn’t want to get involved in the fight, they were dragged in anyway.

You might not go looking for trouble, but trouble will come looking for you.

Wang Yurou stayed by Chen Xin’s side.

The two introverts were huddling together for warmth, so to speak, facing the greetings from the others as a team.

Xu Yun watched this scene unfold without intervening.

In the end, he and Lin Wanzhou were paradoxically the most idle, as if everyone else was too busy to pay them any mind.

”Watching all these women get jealous and fight over you,”

Lin Wanzhou chuckled, ”you must feel a great sense of accomplishment, right?”

”Sigh.”

But Xu Yun just sighed with a smile and said with incredible pretension, ”You wouldn’t understand the struggles of us rich folk.”

”Uh...”

Lin Wanzhou’s mouth twitched. ”You’re right, I really don’t!”
