Super Rich by Doing as You Please

To be honest, Xu Yun hadn’t expected to see Michelle again so soon.

Back on Hong Kong Island, his relationships with both her and Wanqing had been nothing more than fleeting affairs, arrangements of mutual benefit.

Once they parted, they were strangers.

But now that Wanqing had come to his side and they had recently slept together, she could be considered half his woman.

However, since Michelle had stayed on Hong Kong Island to pursue her career, Xu Yun never thought they would have any more contact.

Beside him, Li Jinshu was focused on the event below and didn’t notice the change in Xu Yun’s expression.

She joined the other fans at the scene, shouting, ”Huang Zongze, you’re so handsome!”

”Praising another man’s looks right in front of me.”

Xu Yun said with a smile, ”Is that really appropriate?”

Li Jinshu laughed. ”What, are you jealous?”

”No.”

Xu Yun looked down at Michelle, who was standing next to the female lead, and said, ”That woman on the end is quite beautiful too. It’d be nice if I could go up and get her WeChat.”

”Forget it, let’s not watch anymore. This is boring.”

Li Jinshu glanced at the beautiful actress, then immediately urged Xu Yun to leave. ”Let’s go. We should get back to our shopping.”

Praising Huang Zongze’s looks was just a joke; he was completely out of her league.

But that actress... if Xu Yun really set his mind to it, it was entirely possible he could win her over.

Xu Yun asked with a smile, ”What? Done looking at the handsome guys?”

”I’m done looking. No matter how handsome he is, he’s not as handsome as you!”

Li Jinshu gave Xu Yun a peck on the cheek and said, ”I only like you. All other men are dogs!”

Xu Yun was speechless.

Just as the two were having their intimate moment, Michelle, standing at the edge of the stage below, looked up out of boredom and happened to see the two of them.

She didn’t recognize the woman, but she knew Xu Yun all too well.

That was the man she and her best friend had spent day and night with, the man they’d been completely open with, the man they’d shared an intimate connection with!

Michelle, who had come to the Mainland for a roadshow to promote her TV series, never in a million years expected to see him again under these circumstances.

’He must have seen me just now, right?’

’After all, I was standing right there on the stage.’

Finally, after a half-hour-long roadshow, the event came to an end.

Michelle came off the stage and glanced at her phone.

She saw several missed calls and one unread message.

The missed calls were from Wanqing, and the unread message was from Xu Yun.

She opened Xu Yun’s message first.

[Congratulations, you’re finally an actress.]

Michelle looked at the message from Xu Yun, overjoyed, and immediately replied.

[Thank you!]

[Can we meet tonight? I’m leaving for the next city tomorrow.]

After sending the message, Michelle waited patiently.

She had come to Jiangcheng for work with two plans in mind.

One was to use the work opportunity to meet with Wanqing. The other was the hope of getting a chance to see Xu Yun again.

What Michelle never expected was that, without either of them deliberately trying to connect, they would have a special chance encounter in a shopping mall.

’Perhaps this is fate, arranged by the heavens!’

’But it seems fate is stuck in traffic.’

Michelle waited for a long while but received no reply from Xu Yun.

’Maybe he has to spend time with that woman today and doesn’t have time for me.’

Michelle wasn’t heartbroken, just a little frustrated.

Then, after saying goodbye to the rest of the crew, she went happily to find her best friend, Wanqing.

Recently, Wanqing had just finished shooting her first short drama. It was currently in post-production for editing and was expected to go live on major platforms in a few days.

But the director had seen the sample footage and thought it was good, with the potential to become the next big hit.

If the short drama became a hit, it meant her fame would explode along with it.

Because the production cycle for short dramas is short, the script for the next one was already in her hands, even though her first one had just wrapped filming and hadn’t been released. She was told to look it over and familiarize herself with it for a few days before the next shoot began.

Right now, everyone in the short drama market was fighting to grab market share, so they were all competing on quantity.

Even if they filmed 100 series and more than 90 of them flopped, as long as a few of them became hits, the company would still make a profit and not a loss!

According to statistics from major short-video platforms, an average of about 2.3 new short dramas are released every single day.

Honestly, the competition was truly fierce.

Liang Yan’s film and television studio had been a first-mover, one of the earliest to enter the market.

On top of that, they had already produced two consecutive hit short dramas early on, both with excellent word-of-mouth, and had gained a large, loyal audience. This meant they had already secured a decent slice of the market share ahead of the curve.

Coupled with their huge investment in distribution channels, their exposure was also strong.

As a result, the company wasn’t competing as intensely as other small studios and could focus more on quality and content, taking a more boutique approach.

This was actually a very good thing for Wanqing as she officially entered the entertainment industry.

To surprise Wanqing, Michelle hadn’t told her beforehand that she was already in Jiangcheng.

So when Wanqing received her call, she was pleasantly surprised. After sending her current address via WeChat, she waited at home.

Half an hour later, Michelle arrived at Wanqing’s home.

Wanqing looked at her transformed best friend and said with a smile, ”Michelle, why didn’t you give me a heads-up before coming to Jiangcheng for your roadshow?”

”I wanted to surprise you, of course.”

Michelle looked around Wanqing’s apartment and said, ”The Mainland really is different from Hong Kong Island. This place you’re living in now is so much bigger than our old place.”

”It’s alright.”

Wanqing asked with a smile, ”How long are you staying in Jiangcheng for the roadshow? I happen to be free these next few days. How about I show you around the city?”
