Super Rich by Doing as You Please

In the parking lot outside Jiangcheng’s train station, an incredibly eye-catching Aston Martin Valkyrie was drawing the gazes of all the young people.

Everyone crowded around to look and take pictures.

Those in the know were explaining to the uninformed what kind of car it was, how much it was worth, how many existed in the world, and all about its performance specs.

But Lin Wanzhou, the man driving this supercar, wasn’t in it at the moment.

He stood nervously at the arrival gate, glancing at his watch from time to time, waiting for a certain woman to emerge.

Before long, an announcement echoed through the station. The high-speed train from Hunan to Jiangcheng had arrived, and a huge crowd of passengers began pouring out.

Lin Wanzhou carefully scanned the crowd, searching for the familiar figure from his memory.

Although he had been helping his comrade-in-arms by looking after her, they had actually met very few times—only twice in total.

Once was when he went back home with her brother.

The other was when he escorted her brother’s ashes home.

Their usual contact was limited to the occasional text message, and even those were infrequent.

At most, Lin Wanzhou would send a message after each time he wired her money.

So, when it came down to it, they weren’t actually that close.

’If Xu Yun knew about this, he’d definitely tease me, asking how this is any different from an online romance!’

Just as Lin Wanzhou was wondering why he still couldn’t see her, a delicate hand tapped him on the shoulder from behind, and a soft voice called out, ”Brother Lin.”

Lin Wanzhou froze. Hearing the familiar voice, he turned around.

At 1.7 meters tall, Wang Yurou stood out, looking exceptionally tall in the South, where people tended to be shorter.

Today, she had her hair in a single ponytail and was wearing a light blue blouse under a coffee-colored knit cardigan, paired with a pair of sky-blue skinny jeans and white sneakers.

She looked pure, youthful, sunny, and full of life.

Her features were delicate, adorned with a light dusting of freckles.

When she smiled, a pair of small dimples appeared at the corners of her mouth, making her look rather cute.

”Yu Rou.”

Lin Wanzhou gave an awkward smile and said, ”It’s been a few years. You look different from the last time I saw you.”

”Did I get uglier?”

”No.”

Lin Wanzhou said, ”You seem to have gotten taller, and more beautiful.”

”Brother Lin, girls change a lot as they grow up, and I’m already 23.”

Wang Yurou smiled. ”But you haven’t changed a bit. You’re exactly the same as the last time I saw you—all dark and tan.”

”...” Lin Wanzhou was speechless.

Seeing his expression turn a little unnatural, Wang Yurou took the initiative and said with a smile, ”It’s okay. I’ve come to terms with what happened to my brother. You don’t have to worry about it anymore.

We should both live better lives in this beautiful world he gave his life to protect.”

”Yeah.”

Lin Wanzhou grunted in agreement, reaching for the suitcase beside her. ”Let’s go. I’ll take you to a hotel first. Once you’re settled in, I’ll take you out to eat.”

”A hotel?”

Wang Yurou asked, puzzled, ”Brother Lin, is it inconvenient for me to stay with you?”

”No, it’s not that. It’s just my place...”

Lin Wanzhou said awkwardly, ”I’m a single guy living alone, and I travel a lot for work. I don’t really clean up, so it’s a mess. I was afraid you’d be disgusted.”

”No, I won’t be.”

Wang Yurou smiled. ”If I stay at your place, I can help you tidy up. You can consider that my rent.”

”How could I let you do my housework? Absolutely not.”

”Brother Lin, you’re treating me like a stranger.”

Wang Yurou added, ”Besides, aren’t I supposed to be pretending to be your girlfriend? What kind of girlfriend stays in a hotel instead of at her boyfriend’s place?”

”Well... alright then.”

The two of them chatted as they walked toward the parking lot outside the station.

Halfway there, they saw a crowd and thought something had happened. But when they squeezed through, they realized everyone was gathered around the car he had driven.

He hadn’t expected Xu Yun’s car to be so flashy.

”Excuse me, please make way.”

Lin Wanzhou helped Wang Yurou part the crowd and led her to the car. Then, under everyone’s gaze, he opened the door.

”Get in.”

”Ah? Oh.”

Wang Yurou let out a gasp of surprise, then got into the car under the envious eyes of the crowd.

Unused to being the center of so much attention, Lin Wanzhou quickly got in as well, stepped on the gas, and sped away.

In the car, Wang Yurou looked at the interior and asked, puzzled, ”Brother Lin, don’t you drive a Jeep? When did it turn into a sports car?”

She always kept up with Lin Wanzhou’s social media and knew he owned a Jeep.

But she had no idea he also had such a beautiful sports car.

”This car isn’t mine. I couldn’t afford it anyway.”

Lin Wanzhou answered honestly with a smile, ”I borrowed it from a friend just for today to come pick you up.”

”Brother Lin, you really didn’t have to. This car looks very expensive. It would be terrible if you accidentally scratched it.”

Wang Yurou said, ”Let’s go return it to your friend right now. We can take a taxi back.”

”Okay, whatever you say. I thought you might like it.”

Lin Wanzhou chuckled. ”To be honest, I don’t really like riding in this thing either. It’s too low to the ground and a pain to drive. You have to be so careful with the slightest bump in the road. It’s a total hassle.”

So, he called Xu Yun.

「Golf Club Course.」

While practicing his swing, Xu Yun was surprised to receive a call from Lin Wanzhou.

”Hey, Old Lin, what’s up?”

Xu Yun asked with a smile, ”Did you pick her up?”

”Yeah, I got her. Where are you now?”

Lin Wanzhou said, ”I’m coming to give the car back to you.”

”No rush. Take your girl out for a spin for a few days.”

”Spin my ass. Driving this car of yours, I get gawked at everywhere I go, like a monkey in a zoo.”
