Super Rich by Doing as You Please

”Who said that? I don’t have such a sick hobby.”

At some point, Xu Yun and Lin Wanzhou had walked over. He said with a smile, ”We’re out here to have fun. Drinking is a personal choice, so feel free to drink as much as you want. I have no intention of policing you.

You’re all adults, and you have to be responsible for your own actions.

But since Chen Xin couldn’t bear to watch anymore and wanted to step in out of concern for your health, I had no choice but to come and back her up.

So, could you all do me a favor and just drop it for today? Let’s not have any more of this spiteful drinking, alright?

If you’re really unhappy about something, just take it out on me. I’ll drink with you.

And if I can’t handle it, I’ve got Old Lin here beside me. He can help me drink, too.”

The crowd fell silent.

All they really wanted was to see who he would favor.

Now, Xu Yun’s actions made the result perfectly clear.

He was indeed playing favorites, but it wasn’t with any of them. It was with Chen Xin, the one he was rarely ever with!

Aside from Xino, the others didn’t seem all that disappointed by this.

It was as if Xu Yun’s favoritism toward Chen Xin was something they could accept.

Seeing that everyone had fallen silent, Xu Yun continued, ”This is a team-building event, and you’re all heads of your respective companies. Don’t just stand around in a daze. You should go down and interact with your employees.”

”President Xu has a point. What does it look like for us to be drinking up here?”

Liang Yan was the first to retreat. ”In that case, I’ll head down and mingle with everyone. You all do as you please.”

”Uh, I’m leaving too.” Li Jinshu had been the one to start this whole thing. When she saw Xu Yun look her way, she felt a pang of guilt and promptly slipped away, leaving Ning Qian and Song Xiaowei behind.

”...”

Ning Qian and Song Xiaowei, their faces already flushed from drinking, saw that their leader had fled. They were so startled they even started to stutter.

”W-we were just helping Jinshu. It has nothing to do with us.”

”I know.”

Xu Yun said irritably, ”Go eat some fruit, drink some water, and get some rest.”

”Oh.”

The two women exchanged a look of immense relief and meekly returned to their booth.

”I just saw them ganging up on one person and came to help,” Jian Shiwai, already a little tipsy, explained before returning to her own booth.

Jiang Peiyao looked at Xu Yun and lowered her head. ”I’m sorry. I couldn’t hold back. It’s all my fault.”

”It’s nothing. You’re the one who drank too much. It’s not like I’m the one who’s going to feel sick.”

Xu Yun smiled and said, ”Get some rest for a bit and sober up. I’ll have someone take you home when we leave.”

”Mm.”

Jiang Peiyao mumbled an acknowledgment, said a quick ”thank you” to Xino, and then actually fell asleep right there on the sofa.

She had been running on pure willpower just to stay upright.

Now, only Xino was left.

”Then what about me?”

Xino looked at Xu Yun expectantly. ”Don’t you want to say something to me? I drank a whole bottle just now, too.”

”How about the three of you go back to fighting over snacks?”

Xu Yun teased, ”If I remember correctly, the three of you still haven’t settled the score.”

Xino was speechless.

Chen Xin was speechless.

Hearing this, Wang Yurou just shook her head. ”You two go ahead. I’m out. I honestly can’t eat another bite. Chen Xin, you’re on your own now.

Brother Lin, come on, let’s go have some fun downstairs.”

”Okay.”

Lin Wanzhou nodded indulgently and happily trotted after her.

Xino and Chen Xin looked at each other. Xino spoke first, ”How about we call a truce for today?”

”Oh.”

Chen Xin said, ”But I don’t want to compete with you next time. I’d like to be your friend.”

”Impossible! We’re love rivals!”

Xino shook her head. ”In this lifetime, we are destined to never get along peacefully, not unless you leave Xu Yun.”

”I’ll never leave, unless he doesn’t want me anymore.”

”Same here.”

”...”

Seeing that the two of them were about to start bickering again, Xu Yun decided to make a run for it.

’These two... I’ll just let them be.’

’Who knows, maybe the more they fight, the closer they’ll get!’

Finally, Xu Yun made his way to Su Mu and Yang Siqi’s booth.

He watched the two women having their own private competition and said, ”How about the three of us drink together?”

’Unbelievable...’

’They’re both mature, experienced women, yet they’re acting this childish.’

’Do they really think I’ll only like whoever wins the drinking contest?’

”Sure.”

Su Mu promptly poured Xu Yun a glass. ”If you want to make it three, then let’s make it three.”

”You two can drink. I really can’t drink any more.”

Yang Siqi had no desire to get involved in such unnecessarily complicated relationships. She decisively bowed out, left the table, and went to find her employees.

She was well aware of her relationship with Xu Yun; she didn’t have the right to compete with anyone for his favor.

”Sister Su.”

Xu Yun took a sip from his glass and said with exasperation, ”You’re the big sister of this group. Shouldn’t you be helping me control the situation instead of leading the charge to stir up trouble?”

”I saw you sitting back and enjoying the show. You didn’t seem worried at all.”

Su Mu continued, ”It was that girl, Chen Xin, who ended up coming out to bail you out.”

”She’s still on my side at heart, after all.”

Xu Yun sighed. ”Unlike the rest of you, who only care about venting your emotions and don’t give a damn about my feelings.”

”Oh, listen to you, playing the victim now.”

Su Mu looked at Xu Yun’s expression and couldn’t help but laugh. ”Aren’t we the ones who should feel the most wronged tonight?

They say familiarity breeds affection. Which one of us hasn’t been by your side longer than that girl, Chen Xin?

And let’s be generous—even if you are going to dote on Chen Xin, you could at least do it quietly. Out of sight, out of mind. We could just pretend we don’t know.

But no, you had to set up this whole event, deliberately bring her along, and let her completely steal our thunder!

How do you expect everyone to feel good about that? To not have any objections?

Besides, it’s not like we can actually go and cause trouble for that girl, Chen Xin. We’re afraid of making you angry, so we could only find some other outlet to vent.”

”Chen Xin’s arrival was an accident.”

Xu Yun explained, ”I only found out yesterday that she was in Jiangcheng for an event. Plus, she has a rather soft personality. If I don’t do something to have her back, I’m afraid you all will bully her in the future.”

”To put it bluntly, you still dote on her the most. I’ve never seen you be so concerned about any other woman.”

”Sister Su, maybe not for the others, but I care a great deal about you.”

Xu Yun smiled. ”Otherwise, I wouldn’t have bothered coming over to explain things to you.”

”I guess you have some conscience after all.”

Su Mu said with a serious expression, ”I know I’ve been married before. I’m not qualified, nor will I fight with the women around you for any official title. But please, don’t deliberately use other women to slight me, okay?”

”Who’s slighting you? I’ll go deal with them.”

Xu Yun said with mock anger, ”My dear Sister Su, I wouldn’t dream of bullying you... except maybe in bed.”

”Pfft.”

Su Mu couldn’t help but laugh. She pinched his waist and said, ”Who else is there to bully me but you!”

”Sister Su, you’d better watch it.”

Xu Yun reminded her in a low voice, ”Your best friend Li Jinshu is here. If she sees us being this intimate, aren’t you afraid she’ll get suspicious?”

Su Mu fell silent.

”Sister Su, regarding our relationship... I personally think you should find some time to tell her about it.”

Xu Yun continued, ”Or if you can’t bring yourself to do it, I can tell her. Then, whether she decides to leave or stay, it’ll be up to her. I’ll even give her the fitness center as compensation.”

”How generous of you.”

”The same goes for you, Sister Su.”

Xu Yun said, ”If you wanted to leave, I’d give you Baiyun Media Co., Ltd. as compensation, too.”

”Stay out of this.”

Su Mu shook her head. ”I’ll tell her myself once I’ve figured things out.”

”Suit yourself.”

Xu Yun said, ”I’m just worried you two will end up becoming enemies. It doesn’t really matter to me otherwise.”

”If you knew that, why did you get involved with both of us at the same time?”

”I swear, you were the ones who came on to me first.”

Xu Yun said helplessly, ”I only made a mistake that any man would make.”

Su Mu was speechless.
