Super Rich by Doing as You Please

After parting ways with Jian Shiwai, Xu Yun visited the companies of Su Mu and the five others, one after another, to inform everyone about the location and details for the team-building event.

Everyone was a little surprised to hear that the team-building event would be at a bar.

Fortunately, Xu Yun explained that he had booked the entire venue, so there would be no outsiders—just employees from their various companies.

Furthermore, since the event was in the evening, attendance was voluntary. Anyone who didn’t want to come wasn’t required to.

Moreover, employees in non-essential roles would get the day off after the event.

Those who couldn’t take the day off could still schedule a makeup day.

Afterward, he made some calls to invite a few other people.

These included Lin Wanzhou and his ”fake girlfriend,” as well as two other women, Xino and Song Xiaowei.

By the time he finished his rounds, it was already around 4:00 p.m.

He decided to head over and check on the bar himself.

Just as he was turning a corner, a rider on a shared bike, who wasn’t watching where they were going, slammed right into his front tire.

THUD!

The rider and the bike both went down, hitting the pavement.

Xu Yun was speechless.

His first thought wasn’t for his car; he immediately got out to check on the cyclist.

”Miss, are you all right?”

Xu Yun asked as he helped her to her feet, ”Do you need me to take you to a hospital?”

”I’m fine. It was just a little fall,”

the woman said. But as she looked up, she froze, recognizing Xu Yun’s familiar face.

She stared in astonishment. ”Xu Yun?”

”Wang Yang?”

Xu Yun was surprised as well, looking at the woman he had a brief, fateful encounter with in Guangxi.

Their eyes met, and a wave of awkwardness washed over both of them.

This wasn’t the time for small talk.

Xu Yun helped her move the bright yellow shared bike to the side of the road, then guided her into the passenger seat of his G-Wagen before pulling into a nearby parking spot.

Once they were parked, Xu Yun looked at her, puzzled. ”When did you get to Jiangcheng?”

”I’ve been here for a little while,”

Wang Yang said with a smile. ”I never expected to run into you like this.”

”You need to be more careful next time you’re cycling. It’s dangerous, so try to stay focused.”

”I’m sorry, I was just lost in thought and didn’t see your car.”

Wang Yang asked, ”Is your car okay? I didn’t damage it, did I?”

”Even if it was, it’s not like I’d make you pay for it.”

Xu Yun smiled and asked, ”So, are you in Jiangcheng for business or pleasure?”

”Just visiting.”

Wang Yang lied. ”After you told me about Jiangcheng, I just had to come see it for myself.”

In reality, she had come specifically to find Xu Yun.

She had already been in Jiangcheng for a week.

But because of her inner turmoil, she could never summon the courage to call him. She couldn’t bring herself to tell him that she had come looking for him, that she wanted to be with him.

So, she had given herself one last ”chance.”

She would stay in Jiangcheng for one week.

Every day of that week, she would wander the streets alone. If she happened to run into Xu Yun by chance, she would take it as a sign from heaven.

It would mean they were meant to be.

And if that happened, she would tell Xu Yun to his face how much she had missed him.

She would tell him that she missed him, that she liked him, and that she wanted to be with him.

She wanted to wear her red high heels for him!

But in the blink of an eye, the week had passed. Today was the final day.

And she still hadn’t seen him.

Just as she was about to give up, consoling herself with the thought that Jiangcheng was a huge city and the odds of meeting him were impossibly slim, Xu Yun had suddenly appeared out of nowhere.

He had literally run right into her.

The moment Wang Yang saw Xu Yun helping her up, her heart skipped a beat.

The surprise was so sudden that she completely forgot what she had planned to do.

Now, looking at the man she liked, so close she could almost touch him, the words she wanted to say were caught in her throat.

This wasn’t like her at all.

It was true what they say: it’s hardest to confess to the one you truly love.

”Oh, Jiangcheng is a great city.”

Xu Yun chuckled. ”If you were staying a few more days, I could show you around once I have some free time.”

”Today is my last day,”

Wang Yang said tentatively. ”I’m planning to head back tomorrow.”

”That’s a shame.”

Xu Yun said, ”I have plans tonight, otherwise I’d treat you to dinner. Where are you staying? I can give you a ride back.”

Wang Yang fell silent.

Seeing that Xu Yun didn’t seem to have much interest in her, her heart ached.

’Maybe he was just messing around back then,’ she thought. ’He probably forgot all about me and doesn’t want me disturbing his life now.’

’I was just overthinking everything.’

’If that’s the case, then what was the point of this fateful encounter?!’

When Xu Yun dropped her off at her hotel entrance, she watched as he turned to leave, clearly not intending to come inside. In that moment, she finally decided to take a chance, to leave herself with no regrets.

”Xu Yun, I’m not actually here on vacation.”

So, she called out to him.

Xu Yun turned back, looking at her in confusion. ”???”

”Ever since you left that day, I’ve thought about you constantly.”

Wang Yang began to pour her heart out, word by word, telling him of her longing, of her affection for him, and of the real reason she had come to Jiangcheng.

Hearing her sudden confession, Xu Yun was completely dumbfounded.

His first thought was, ’Is she short on cash again? Is she about to ask me for money?’

But he quickly dismissed the thought.

Her feelings seemed far too genuine.

’If this is all an act,’ he thought, ’then I’ll have to hand it to her!’

But if it was real... well, Xu Yun certainly hadn’t expected this. He had only casually laid the groundwork back then, leaving an opening so it would be convenient to meet up the next time he was in Guangxi.
