Super Rich by Doing as You Please

The amount of money required was simply too large. The overall economic climate was also poor, so many corporations were tightening their belts, becoming more conservative and unwilling to make blind investments.

After all, this was two billion, not two hundred million.

Furthermore, the returns offered by the government sounded vague, relying entirely on goodwill and offering no real guarantees.

That was why no one was willing to expose themselves to such a risk.

The only reason he was here today was because Xi Huai’an, after hearing his troubles at a dinner party, had mentioned that he might know someone with the necessary resources.

So, he had come to see for himself.

’What if it actually works out?’

At first glance, seeing that the person who arrived was a young man not yet thirty, he had his doubts about whether he truly had the ability to take on this project.

But then he reconsidered. ’Xi Huai’an wouldn’t joke with me about something like this.’

After interacting with him for a few minutes, he found the young man quite impressive.

Even after learning who he was, the young man remained calm and composed, acting naturally and treating him as he would anyone else.

But now, after he had mentioned the two billion sum, the young man hesitated, just like all the other bosses he had met with.

’Looks like this is a no-go after all.’

The middle-aged man said with some disappointment, ”Young man, if you feel this is too difficult...”

”Sir, I’ll take it.”

Xu Yun cut him off, smiling. ”Two billion it is. If others don’t believe in you, I do! If others don’t dare to take this gamble, I will!”

”Are you sure about this?”

The official looked at him, surprised. ”I can’t give you any guarantees on this. It’s very possible your two billion could all go down the drain.”

”If it’s a loss, then it’s a loss.”

Xu Yun said nonchalantly, ”I’ll just consider it a good deed. It’s not easy for people who’ve spent their life savings and taken out loans just to buy a home.”

”You’re not going to discuss this with your family?”

The official personally poured him a cup of tea and kindly reminded him, ”This is no small sum. I’m not in a hurry. I can wait a few days for your answer.”

”No need. I’m the one who calls the shots in my family.”

Xu Yun didn’t stand on ceremony. He took a sip of the tea the official had poured and joked self-deprecatingly, ”This is the most expensive tea I’ve ever had. Two billion a sip!”

”HAHAHA...”

The middle-aged man laughed heartily and remarked with a sigh, ”If only our society had more capable and responsible entrepreneurs like you.”

”I’m no entrepreneur. I’m just a spendthrift with a bit of idle cash.”

Xu Yun pursed his lips. ”Please don’t put me on a pedestal, Sir. It makes me nervous.”

”Don’t be. You’re doing an incredibly good deed.”

The middle-aged man fell silent for a moment, then said, ”Regardless of the future, I’ll give you my personal promise here and now. As long as you act with integrity and walk a straight path, and as long as I’m around, I will ensure the skies above you remain clear.”

”Thank you, Sir.”

Xu Yun smiled. This was an unexpected bonus.

’I may have just spent two billion, but this is without a doubt a protective talisman for myself!’

’Totally worth it!’

He said, with a double meaning, ”I also hope that a good leader like yourself can achieve continuous promotions and serve even more people.”

”Excellent! May your auspicious words come true.”

The middle-aged man stood up. ”Then let’s call it a day here. I need to get back and arrange the specific details. You should get ready on your end as well.”

”Of course. Sir, let me see you out.”

The two went downstairs together. Xi Huai’an came forward, taking over for Xu Yun to continue escorting the middle-aged man out.

An older black Audi was already parked there.

Xi Huai’an asked with a smile, ”Judging by your expression, it went well?”

”I owe you one.”

The middle-aged man said happily, ”If my daughter weren’t already married, I’d want that kid for a son-in-law!”

”Don’t even think about it. It’s all fate. You can’t just wish for that kind of luck.”

Xi Huai’an triumphantly saw his old classmate off, then started humming a little tune as he walked home.

He was in a joyous mood.

Ever since college, whether in school or at work, he had always been one step behind him. Today, he finally had his moment of triumph!

’So satisfying!’
