The Valued Lady is Truly Dominant

Chapter 851: Chapter 851: Peril

Good luck doesn’t work, bad luck does.

Song Ci wished he could shut his own foul mouth up. Everything he said seemed to come true. Why didn’t some gold and jewels fall from the sky?

Lin Qing withdrew her hand, her face heavy.

Madam Song noticed her expression, and her heart sank.

”Ah Qing, how is it?” Song Ci asked.

Lin Qing said, ”The fetal position is breached. Fortunately, Madam has only spotted a little blood and the amniotic fluid has not yet broken. We can still try to correct it, but Madam will have to endure some pain.”

”That’s right, we can forcefully massage, but it will hurt and might not necessarily correct it.” Liu, the midwives, nodded vigorously.

Song Ci scolded, ”Childbirth for a woman is like passing through the gates of hell. How can there be no pain? Stop dilly-dallying. Do what needs to be done quickly. If you keep dragging on and debating, if the water breaks, that’s the real trouble.”

”Yes, yes.”

Song Ci looked at Madam Song and said, ”Lady Gu, you need to muster your energy and cooperate with the midwives and Lin Qing. Endure the pain, save your strength, and wait for the moment of birth. If you exhaust yourself now, who will give birth for you?”

”Mother...”

Madam Song was panicking, especially after the nightmare of a difficult labor she had, making her even more anxious.

”You are the Lady, and this isn’t your first time giving birth. You’ve weathered many storms over the years, and you can certainly get through this.” Song Ci looked at her and said, ”Don’t worry, I’ve sent someone on horseback to get the eldest back quickly. I’ll be here the whole time; everything is under control.”

Seeing her mother-in-law’s determined voice, Madam Song steeled her heart and nodded heavily.

She was helped up and walked around the room a few times before lying back down on the bed.

Meanwhile, Song Ci turned to Jiang and Lu, saying, ”Lu, go outside and handle the kitchen affairs. Don’t allow any entry or exit for purchasing; use the stored grain for now.”

”Yes.”

”Jiang, head to the main courtyard’s kitchen and tell them not to stop heating water. Prepare some thick chicken egg soup. Then go to my storeroom, take the hundred-year-old ginseng, slice it, and have it ready.”

Jiang responded quickly, and both went out, busy with their tasks.

Song Ci watched several maids kneeling beside Madam Song, firmly restraining her hands and feet, while two midwives began coordinating the massage, making her eyelids twitch uncontrollably.

She called Lin Qing to one side and whispered, ”Should we boil the labor-inducing medicine?”

Lin Qing said, ”Boiling it doesn’t matter; it shouldn’t be necessary. I just fear the fetal position is wrong and the water might break, then we’ll have to force the birth.”

Song Ci gritted her molars, saying, ”In that case, there’s nothing we can do. Ah Qing, if the time comes, prioritize saving the adult.”

She regretted not studying medicine back then. Otherwise, she’d opt for a cesarean if necessary.

Lin Qing hesitated, looking at Song Ci’s trusting gaze, and nodded.

A piercing cry of pain interrupted their conversation.

They both looked over, seeing Madam Song’s head thrown back, veins bulging on her neck, and they couldn’t help but feel concerned.

If she expends all her energy now, what will happen during childbirth?

Song Ci didn’t dare look too long; she even wished she could block her ears.

If she’s fortunate enough to return to the modern era someday, she might develop a fear of childbirth; the shadow looms over her.

Madam Fang, tearful, offered a clean white cloth for Madam Song to bite on, silently praying as she did so, because she had followed Madam’s instructions to put plenty of sesame oil.
