The Valued Lady is Truly Dominant

Chapter 857: Chapter 857: A Cause for Great Joy

Has the rain stopped?

Song Ci walked to the window and looked outside through the pane. Indeed, the world that was once drenched in heavy rain was now peaceful, with only the sound of water dripping from the eaves.

Looking up, the sun had shown its face, and its rays shone on the lingering mist in the courtyard, forming a rainbow.

”It’s a celestial rainbow, there’s a celestial rainbow.”

In the courtyard, the maids and servants shouted in unison.

She was somewhat surprised and turned back to gaze thoughtfully at the newborn treated by Imperial Physician Liu.

Could this be considered a heavenly omen? Will this boy achieve great things in the future?

From beyond the curtain came a stir, Song Ci immediately recollected herself. The crisis was over, yet she had forgotten there was an even more important person.

Song Ci hurried over and saw Madam Song’s face pale without a hint of color, her eyes closed, which gave her a small shock.

”What happened?”

Lin Qing withdrew her hand from taking the pulse and said, ”She fainted from exhaustion. This labor was difficult for Madam, with damage below, the mother’s body is frail. Luckily, she didn’t experience major hemorrhage, but considering her age and complications, this truly took half her life. From now on, careful recovery is needed, she cannot overexert herself.”

Song Ci breathed a sigh of relief and said, ”As long as she can recover, it’s good. You help thoroughly examine her, use medicine if needed; if secret medicine is required, which we don’t have, I’ll shamelessly request it from the palace.”

Lin Qing nodded.

Beside them, Nanny Fang, holding Madam Song, felt heartily grateful after listening, and looking at the pallid face of her mistress, her heart was greatly comforted.

Childbirth has always been like passing through a gate of death, let alone a difficult one—it is nearly a matter of life and death. Having gotten through it now, the fortune is indeed considerable.

”Lady, what about the young master?”

Lin Qing too was curious about the child’s condition.

At that moment, Nanny from the palace came in carrying a bundle. This child was born through hardship, truly facing everything at birth, lying in a red swaddling cloth, the small face still reddish-purple, definitely not attractive.

But his tiny finger gently curled, slender and fine, bringing a sense of joy to the heart.

Nanny Fang, upon seeing this, felt the weight in her heart finally drop. As long as the child is safe, the suffering her mistress endured was not in vain.

With Madam Song’s side cleaned, Song Ci summoned Imperial Physician Liu to help with diagnosis.

Through observation, inquiry, and examination, due to gender taboos, the check wasn’t very detailed, yet it coincided with Lin Qing’s remarks. Madam Song’s childbirth truly caused significant suffering; meticulous care was indispensable.

One more thing, Imperial Physician Liu spoke obliquely about post-difficult labor hemorrhage taking place after some hours, especially if wrong food is ingested, it becomes more likely, that is the real threat to prepare for, one must carefully watch out.

Upon hearing this, everyone felt a chill in their hearts.

Although there were no concubines in the main residence, reducing disputes of jealousy, who knows if there might be hiding spies from political enemies ready to strike Song Zhiyuan at the opportune moment, so precautions must still be taken.

Nanny Fang immediately told Song Ci that she should personally prepare Madam’s medicine.

Song Ci nodded, instructed for Madam Song to be taken back to the master bedroom, then asked Lin Qing and Imperial Physician Liu to deliberate on prescriptions focusing mainly on recovery, not in urgency for potent medicines, since there is no rush. Similarly, Song Xiaoliu must be carefully nurtured, having suffered through great trials.

Seeing everyone busy, with many outside waiting for news, Song Ci personally walked out, under the eager eyes of the crowd, she smiled and said, ”The Lady of the main residence has given birth, mother and child are safe, it’s a great joy. The household is rewarded with one month’s monthly salary; those serving in the main residence are rewarded with two months.”
