The Valued Lady is Truly Dominant

Chapter 880: Chapter 880: Directly Slapped in the Face

Song Ci’s series of actions left Song Zhiqing and Lady Lu both a bit stunned. Neither of them were foolish, and with a calm thought, they realized something.

Compared to Song Zhiqing, Lady Lu was even more terrified, looking at Song Ci with a face full of shock, she asked: ”Mother, could it be that Zhou’er and the others getting chickenpox isn’t accidental, but intentional?”

Song Ci said: ”Whether it’s an accident or intentional, we must investigate thoroughly to know the truth.”

Without thinking, Lady Lu said: ”It must be that wretch Bai Shuilian, she used this malicious scheme to get Xiaowu and the others back. She’s so poisonous.”

Song Zhiqing frowned and shouted: ”You can’t jump to conclusions without evidence, didn’t you hear mother say we need to investigate? How can you accuse someone based on guesswork? You are the Lady, you must be fair in handling matters.”

Lady Lu laughed angrily: ”Accusing her? She feigns innocence, what wouldn’t she do? Just watch, isn’t she going to ask me to send them back during Xiaowu’s fever? This is what you said yourself, to send them back to be cared for by their birth mother.”

Song Zhiqing was at a loss for words, he said: ”I just feel sorry for the two children being separated from their mother at a young age, especially when they’re sick. I thought mother-child bond, having the birth mother care for them would be more comforting.”

”So you simply don’t believe me, thinking I deliberately mistreat the siblings, causing the child to be ill, right?” Lady Lu sneered.

”You, utterly irrational, I didn’t say that. Besides, it’s not just Zhou’er who’s got chickenpox, Yi’er did too, even if you say Bai did it, why would she do so, does it make sense to harm her own son?”

Such defense!

Song Ci, upon hearing this, wished she could write ”scumbag” on this fool’s forehead.

Lady Lu sarcastically said: ”Who knows? She has a black heart, who knows what vile schemes she harbors? She’s rotten to the core, what’s wrong with using children?”

Song Zhiqing’s face darkened: ”Then can I also say you did it?”

Lady Lu was so angry tears welled up: ”You may say so, but I dare swear on Zhou’er’s life, I’m not that depraved, and would never harm my children.”

Her words were firm, and using a child’s life to swear, left Song Zhiqing speechless.

”Have you two quarreled enough?” Song Ci coldly looked at them: ”Is this the time to argue, aren’t you concerned about the children?”

Lady Lu wiped the corner of her eye, saluted to Song Ci, and said: ”Mother, your daughter-in-law has selfish motives, I can no longer be concerned with Xiaowu here. I petition you, allow me to personally care for Zhou’er, I must personally accompany him through this period.”

”Are you sure? You have never had chickenpox.”

Lady Lu nodded: ”I’m not afraid, I’ll follow mother’s methods, even at the risk of my life.”

Song Ci said: ”If so, you will take turns with Lady Zhou to care for him. One more thing, even while caring for him, you must not have direct contact with Zhou’er, let Lady Zhou handle things like wiping him down. In case Zhou’er recovers, but you do not, what about the children then? Remember this well, when there’s a stepmother, there’s a stepfather.”

Song Zhiqing felt embarrassed hearing this, his face flushed, and he looked elsewhere awkwardly.

The old lady now detests him so much she’s not even giving him face, directly called him out.

”I’ll follow mother’s instructions.” Lady Lu said: ”If it’s so, let Xiaowu and them go back to Youyan Courtyard, so the master doesn’t feel I’m failing as the first wife, the children are ill, indeed cared for better by their birth mother.”
