The Valued Lady is Truly Dominant

Chapter 890: Chapter 890: I Don’t Trust Them

What Song Ci said, Jiang Fula had also considered deeply. The investigation of the mastermind seemed too straightforward, as if, as Song Ci mentioned, they were already waiting for him to investigate. Yet, when he heard several strict nannies talk about Shuanglu’s calm arrogance before her demise, he felt there weren’t too many flaws.

”What the matriarch said, I also have my doubts. However, before Shuanglu’s death, her thoughts were clear, and she didn’t seem coerced or instructed. Moreover, since entering the mansion, Shuanglu acted boldly and was reprimanded several times by Madam Bai, so there was resentment in her heart, which matched the situation.”

Song Ci smiled and said, ”If it were purely to retaliate against Madam Bai, it would make sense. But didn’t you say you suspect she’s a spy? If she were a spy, what was her goal here? It wasn’t me who was harmed, nor the main house, but the young master of the third house. These days, spies don’t openly roam the streets; it’s hard to plant a spy. Just dealing with trivial matters seems like making a big deal out of nothing, and it doesn’t logically add up.”

As for spies, especially those who are difficult to plant, they must be used at the most critical moments. Look at the previous case with that doctor Chen; how long was that dormant?

This Shuanglu had only been in the mansion for a little over a year before exposing herself, and did minor things. To say she’s a spy would be insulting the intelligence of any mastermind.

Too foolish.

”The matriarch means...” Jiang Fula was rarely at a loss for words, lowering his head in contemplation.

Seeing his confusion, Song Ci continued, ”I am just an old woman, without the ability to solve cases. These are merely conjectures. My intuition tells me that Shuanglu might have been a scapegoat.”

Jiang Fula shook his head. ”Several strict nannies said they saw no false grudges in Shuanglu’s expression, and the evidence indeed shows it was she who brought the questionable items into the house, and there are witnesses.”

Hearing this, Song Ci quickly thought and said, ”In that case, one—she did bring it in knowingly, but Madam Bai was aware, aiming to achieve mutual destruction. Two—she did not bring it in, yet everyone saw that it was her.”

Jiang Fula was bewildered, ”What are you saying?”

”Are you suggesting someone impersonated Shuanglu, planning an escape route by making her the scapegoat?” Nanny Gong interjected.

Jiang Fula’s eyes narrowed, ”Disguise?”

”I want to know if that’s possible,” Song Ci said. ”As for what the strict nannies said, if Shuanglu truly confessed, it’s either because she was blackmailed into it or she was bewitched.”

But let me tell you, in novels, this is how they write it.

”Bewitched?”

”Jiang Fula, you know, the Punishment Hall has various means. If the right techniques are used, there’s nothing that can’t be uncovered. Likewise, in the world of warriors and craftsmen, there are many skilled individuals. Some may practice disguise, some might hypnotize and confuse others, making them completely obedient. After all, there are masters among the common folk.”

Upon hearing this, Jiang Fula’s pupils constricted. In the world of the Green Forest, there are many who practice martial arts and Daoist skills; the existence of those who practice dark arts can’t be ruled out.

”The matriarch has enlightened me.” Jiang Fula gave Song Ci a respectful bow, feeling completely convinced.

Song Ci waved it off. ”It’s not enlightenment, just pooling ideas. I just feel the collection of evidence was too smooth, as if deliberately guiding you to that conclusion, which is abnormal.”

”So what do you suggest?”

”It’s undeniable that Shuanglu is from the Idle Garden. To say they were completely unaware, I don’t believe it,” Song Ci said. ”I don’t trust that pair of master and servant.”
