The Valued Lady is Truly Dominant

Chapter 871: Chapter 871: Son, Are You Planning a Rebellion?

Song Ci watched Song Lingzhao go out the door, suppressing a strange feeling, and said to Nanny, ”Don’t you think Zhao’er is acting a bit strange?”

Nanny replied, ”Too filial to you?”

Song Ci glared at her and said, ”Anyway, I just feel something’s not quite right, like the boy is hiding something.”

”The two Young Masters are almost fifteen; it’s not surprising for young lads to have their own concerns.” Nanny was somewhat dismissive.

Song Ci shrugged. Was she overthinking it?

”Madam, Mama Zhou from Third Madam’s place has arrived.” Chun Fen lifted the curtain and said.

Song Ci was surprised, ”Why is everyone coming so early, let her in.”

Mama Zhou walked in, looking exhausted, and knelt to greet Song Ci, ”Old servant greets Madam.”

”Mama, is there something up with your Madam this early?”

Mama Zhou replied, ”To let Madam know, yesterday Fourth Young Master and Fifth Young Master both developed a fever. Madam even stayed up all night with Fourth Young Master. Afraid of passing illnesses to you, Madam has sent me to apologize, and won’t be coming herself today to greet you.”

Song Ci was shocked, ”What, both Young Masters have a fever? Why didn’t anyone report this?”

”The house physician said it’s the cold wind entering their body. Yesterday Madam was also weary, and didn’t want to disturb your rest, so she didn’t let anyone report.”

”Foolish.” Song Ci frowned and asked, ”How are they now? Have their fevers subsided?”

Mama Zhou, exhausted, said, ”The fever went down a little but then came back up again.”

Song Ci stood up and said, ”I’ll go take a look. Nanny, get my token and have someone go to the palace to invite the Imperial Physician to come treat the two Young Masters.”

Nanny acknowledged.

Song Ci took Chun Fen’s hand and led the group first to Song Lingzhou’s courtyard.

Liu Ting Pavilion.

Song Zhicheng and his wife were still comfortably in bed when they heard the maid report that their eldest son had come to pay respects.

”What’s he doing up so early, send him back.” Song Zhicheng, holding Jiang shi, was unwilling to move.

Jiang shi pushed him away, chiding, ”You’re an adult, acting so clingy. The child has come to pay respects, and you’re still lazing in bed, don’t you feel embarrassed?”

”I...”

Song Zhicheng was frustrated; what’s wrong with being an adult, can’t adults be affectionate too?

This old woman is just annoyed at his age, right?

Hey, being able twice in a night is still possible.

Outside, Song Lingzhao sneezed, feeling a chill on the back of his neck.

When he finally saw his parents appear, he sensed his father’s displeased look, as if somewhat unsatisfied.

Song Lingzhao glanced at his father, knelt down obediently, and made a grand salute, showing more affection towards Jiang shi.

Jiang shi said, ”Get up. Why are you here instead of the practice room today? And bowing to me, are you planning a rebellion?”

Song Lingzhao, speechless, said, ”Mother, didn’t I come yesterday to see the third day ceremony for Little Six, and thought of your hardships? It was so difficult for Aunt to give birth to Little Six, how hard must it have been for you to give birth to me and Jiejie back then? Bowing to you is only right.”

”Oh, my son has truly grown up, knowing to appreciate his mother’s hardships now.” Jiang shi chuckled, ”But you flattering like this, it’s probably because your monthly salary is spent? Or have you seen some treasure sword in the out-of-town treasure shop, no money in your pocket, so you came to ask for silver?”

Song Lingzhao: ”...”

He was wronged.

He was genuinely here to bow and pay respects, but mother didn’t believe him.

Song Lingjie, carrying his younger sister Yuanyuan, walked in and said, ”Mother, you’re really wise. He did spot a dagger inlaid with gemstones and wants to buy it.”

Song Lingzhao widened his eyes and, receiving his younger brother’s hint, plastered a dog-like smile on his face.
