The Valued Lady is Truly Dominant

Chapter 870: Chapter 870: Hiding a Big Move from Grandmother

On a summer night, Song Ci, the elderly woman, was a light sleeper. By the fifth watch of the night, she had already gotten up to wash and joke around with a group of young maids.

”Madam is truly the cleanest and neatest old lady I’ve ever seen,” Xiaoman said cheerily, praising her.

Song Ci dabs her face with rose-infused water, chuckling, ”I’m at an age where if I’m not tidy and clean, I’d smell like an old person, and you’d all dislike me.”

Xiaoman said, ”You don’t smell like an old person; you smell nice.”

Song Ci smiled slightly. Of course she smelled nice; she washed her face with fragrant soap and soaked her hands in fresh milk. After that, she applied flower water to her face. She was quite meticulous about it.

Every day when she got up, she felt a vain sense of being an Empress Dowager waking early to be attended to.

Imagine, with one move, people come to serve you, bowing and paying their respects as they assist you with grooming, even brushing your teeth and scraping your tongue for you, not to mention the daily skincare, which was practically washing with silver.

Once skincare and dressing were done, she’d go out to meet people all fresh and neat, and if she wished, there’d be someone attending to her from start to finish.

Isn’t that something to be vain about?

The so-called lazy fish life is probably like this.

Indeed, whenever she was this particular, Song Ci felt immensely fortunate that although she’d turned into an old lady, she was at least a wealthy old lady. Otherwise, where would she find such enjoyment?

Song Ci felt extremely comfortable from all the flattering.

”Madam, the second young master has come to pay his respects,” Nanny Gong said with a smile.

Song Ci was a bit surprised, ”Zhao’er?”

She instinctively looked at the clock; it wasn’t even five yet. Coming to pay respects so early?

What’s gotten into this kid?

She leaned on Nanny Gong’s hand and walked out, where she indeed saw Song Lingzhao standing outside the main room in short coarse clothes.

Upon seeing her, Song Lingzhao respectfully knelt down and bowed his head, ”Zhao’er offers his respects to grandmother.”

”Get up quickly,” Song Ci said with a smile on her face, ”I say Zhao’er, what trouble have you gotten into? It’s not fully dawn yet, and you’re here to pay respects? Tell me, what trouble is it that you want your grandmother to cover for you?”

Song Lingzhao walked over, helping her to sit on the Arhat bed, saying, ”Where would grandson get into trouble? It’s just that it’s hot, and I’m used to practicing martial arts early, and seeing the weather is nice, after a set of exercises, I came to offer my respects to you. Later, I’ll go pay respects to my parents too.”

”Really didn’t get into trouble?”

”Not at all,” Song Lingzhao said with a mischievous grin, ”But grandmother, if I ever do get into trouble in the future, you’ll have to cover for me, since I’m under your protection.”

Song Ci jokingly tapped his forehead, ”As long as it’s not something outrageously bad, I’ll promise you.”

Song Lingzhao affectionately nudged her arm, inhaling her scent, ”Grandmother, you must live long and stay healthy, so you can cover for my troubles for a long time.”

Song Ci felt a bit unusual in her heart, looking at her grandson who was even taller than she, saying, ”You’re acting a bit odd, confess now, you’re not planning a big surprise behind grandmother’s back, are you?”

Song Lingzhao almost faltered, grinning more cheekily, ”Your eyes are sharp, grandmother. How could grandson dare to plan anything under your nose? That’d be like swinging a sword in front of Guan Gong.”

Song Ci pinched his ear, saying, ”Whatever you do, don’t act impulsively. I’ve taught you this — even if it’s unpleasant, calm down and think more about it, understand?”

Song Lingzhao mumbled an affirmative.
