The Valued Lady is Truly Dominant

Chapter 900: Chapter 900: Lotus Stage Levels

Bai Shuilian, holding the hand of a maid, arrived at the west wing room and heard the sharp cries coming from inside. Her heart clenched tightly, wanting to step forward, but was stopped by an old nursemaid.

”Madam, you are injured and need to rest. The Old Madam has ordered that not many people are to come into contact with the Fifth Young Master to prevent the spread of smallpox,” the old nursemaid said sternly.

Bai Shuilian pleaded, ”Mother, can’t I just take a quick look?”

”Madam, you are already seriously injured, and now is a time when your body is weak. You mustn’t act recklessly,” the old nursemaid glanced inside the room and said, ”The Fifth Young Master’s smallpox is at its peak. It’s natural for him to be in discomfort. Madam, please be considerate.”

Bai Shuilian’s heart twisted into a knot, as her lower lip was bitten by her teeth until a bead of blood appeared.

Song Zhiqing walked in to see Bai Shuilian looking ’bullied’ and miserable, and immediately rushed over to hold her: ”Lian’er.”

Bai Shuilian leaned into his embrace, tears slipping down, appearing fragile and pitiful.

”What’s the matter?” Song Zhiqing’s gaze floated toward the old nursemaid.

The old nursemaid had already bowed, repeated what she had said earlier, and added, ”Madam is already physically weak. It wouldn’t be good if she caught smallpox.”

Bai Shuilian said, ”Master, it’s just because I’m worried about Yi’er that I wanted to see him. The old nursemaid means well, I...”

She truly had suffered a cut, and this small commotion made her abdomen ache, causing her to break out in a cold sweat. Along with the hot weather, she saw stars and could hardly stand.

Seeing this, Song Zhiqing didn’t bother to deal with the old nursemaid who was overstepping her authority but instead scooped up Bai Shuilian and took her inside, ordering someone to summon Xuan Linqing.

The old nursemaid lowered her head and eyes, stood motionless at the door of the wing room, but glimpsed those entering the main room with a hint of disdain in her eyes.

Inside the main room, several maids attended to Bai Shuilian.

Song Zhiqing watched as the bandages around her abdomen seeped with red, and his eyes showed a flash of heartache.

”Where is Doctor Lin?”

As soon as he spoke, someone came in, curtsied, and said, ”In response to Third Master, Doctor Lin went to give Madam acupuncture. Doctor Ma has arrived.”

Song Zhiqing stiffened slightly, feeling increasingly displeased. Ideally, Xuan Linqing would be there, but the reality was...

What he didn’t know was that Lin Qing originally only served Song Ci, now seemingly transformed into the household doctor—this was due to Lin Qing’s benevolence. If it were some eccentric Divine Doctor, they wouldn’t even care to deal with him.

When there’s no alternative, Song Zhiqing had no choice but to let Doctor Ma come in to take the pulse and change the medicine.

After another bout of busyness, things were finally settled, but Bai Shuilian had been tormented to the point where her face showed no trace of color.

Song Zhiqing sat down, saying, ”Didn’t I tell you to just focus on recovering? Yi’er is being looked after by Jing Shui.”

Bai Shuilian shook her head, ”I am his biological mother. He’s suffering so much now, as a mother I wish I could bear it for him. How can I peacefully recover? It’s all my fault for being impulsive in the past and not knowing that Shuanglu held a grudge against me. She is truly foolish.”

”What makes that wretched maid deserve your sympathy? She’s an ungrateful creature—feeding her to the dogs would be too good for her,” Song Zhiqing said, holding her hand, ”This has nothing to do with you. Don’t shoulder it yourself.”

”How could it not? Even that piece of clothing you’re wearing, I was the one who chose it. If anything should happen to Yi’er and Zhou’er, I truly wouldn’t want to continue living. Ahem, ahem.”

Song Zhiqing’s whole body stiffened. If that’s the case, wasn’t it because of the contaminated clothing he wore that the virus was transmitted to the two children?
