The Valued Lady is Truly Dominant

Chapter 881: Chapter 881: The Lu Family Throws in the Towel

Madam Lu summoned a few senior maids to give them instructions, but she paid no attention to Song Zhiqing, simply packing up a few belongings and moving into Wangzhou Tower. She shut the courtyard gate, completely isolating herself from outside prying eyes.

She didn’t even bother to find out who was behind the outbreak of this disease, instead, she simply dropped the matter, truly straightforward and decisive.

Song Zhiqing was quite perplexed.

In fact, Madam Lu wasn’t uninterested; she understood the importance of priorities. In her view, taking good care of Song Lingzhou was currently most critical because only when her son was well could she survive and have hope.

But if he were to fall ill, what good would finding the truth do?

Moreover, she knew that since Song Ci had suspicions regarding the child’s illness, she would not simply stand by, but will surely investigate thoroughly.

With Song Ci as a stabilizing force like the Sea Calming Needle, all the malevolent spirits have nowhere to hide; Madam Lu only needs to care for Zhou’er and wait for the outcome.

It must be said, Madam Lu was both wise and resolute this time.

Song Ci gazed at Song Zhiqing’s green complexion, sneering internally, and said, ”As you wished.”

She ordered for Song Lingyi to be tightly wrapped and moved back to Youran Courtyard, yet Song Rushuang was not moved, still residing in Plum Garden. After all, having the two children together could spread the illness further.

Fortunately, Song Rushuang’s constitution was strong, living with his brother in the western wing, and though their beds were far apart, he hadn’t caught the illness.

This made Song Ci feel something was amiss.

Nanny Gong and Madam Jiang arrived together to report, ”Jiang Fula, under the Prime Minister’s orders, is investigating this matter thoroughly. Madam, please return to your courtyard.”

Song Ci raised an eyebrow, ”Jiang Fula has taken over?”

Nanny Gong nodded, ”The involved servants are already handed over to Steward Jiang. Madam, you may wait for news in Chunhui Hall; in the meantime, both Young Masters’ courtyards must temporarily be sealed.”

Madam Jiang also said, ”Indeed, Mother, you are not in good health; you shouldn’t worry about these matters. I will manage them.”

Song Ci: ”I must also tell you, Madam Lu needs to care for Zhou’er, your eldest sister-in-law is still in confinement, and the family affairs will rely entirely on you. I will have the housekeeper from the main courtyard to assist you.”

Madam Jiang was already mentally prepared and nodded.

Everything that needed to be conveyed was conveyed, leaving the rest to the doctors and time. Song Ci, not being young and agile herself, felt exhausted from the worry, thinking only of going back to the courtyard to rest.

She directly leaned on Nanny Gong’s hand and left.

Song Zhiqing stood at Plum Garden, feeling both bewildered and helpless.

The eldest had ordered Jiang Fula to investigate, meaning he’s intervening in this matter. Does he also believe it’s man-made?

Song Zhiqing pursed his lips in thought for a moment, preparing to leave the courtyard, only to see Jiang Fula leading rough servant women towards the western wing.

”Steward Jiang.”

Jiang Fula slightly bowed, his round face squeezing out a partial smile, saluting Song Zhiqing with his hand, ”Third Master, as the Prime Minister instructed, I’m investigating the rash incident of Fourth Young Master and Fifth Young Master. If I offend, please forgive me, Third Master.”

Song Zhiqing didn’t dare show arrogance towards his eldest brother’s trusted aide, instead replying politely, ”Such a small matter actually disturbed my elder brother; I am truly ashamed. Is my elder brother still in the manor?”

Jiang Fula smiled and said, ”Unfortunately, the Prime Minister left to the Palace a quarter of an hour ago. Once this matter is resolved, I will personally report to him.”

Song Zhiqing tugged at the corner of his mouth, saying, ”Then I shall trouble Steward Jiang. If it’s merely an accident, so be it; but if it’s intentional, I certainly won’t let that vile spirit go, acting so malignantly.”
